Okay so idea that the left and right are just illusions is fine, but doesn't change the fact that we should be vetting people on policies and if they get the job done or not, but apparently everyone seems to be like sheep who follows the guy who says what they like to hear and talks a good game, but doesn't walk the walk. We need to be more critical of the people we put in office.

Politics is about proper management of conflict and cooperation of which no society can be nor should be purely cooperative or purely conflicting. Both conflict and cooperation are deeply embedded in human nature.

There are things the state should do, and things it should not. And there can never be an answer that can just be used forever. The right political answers are only and can only ever be for the time being. An end of history like some people want to assert is impossible.

But you're right, they said the more "educated" people tended to be liberal or conservative rather than independent.

Personally, I think the reason for that is people like to talk it up. My biggest interest is in political things, and I'm a moderate. I have extensive opinions about things that should be done in politics, but it doesn't go on the left or right, nor would it be individualist or collectivist.

I believe the "self" is more important than the "individual" or the "collective".

The 4th idea they do not want to discuss is the private ownership of the earth. Land value is the largest transfer of wealth from the producer to the non-producer. A landlord does not determine the value of his land, the value is a result of the productive sector creating businesses and paying taxes for police, roads, jails, schools, etc. The right and left protect the rent-seeker. No human created land or the minerals below or the sun and atmosphere above, yet we are charged for use of nature.

Thank you for pointing out how the powers that be created the left - right paradigm in order to control and manipulate the population. This is why no matter who we vote for, they all follow the same orders by the people really in power.  The biggest con of all is the left - right propaganda.
