  • Of all the versions of 'The Nutcracker' I have seen (a lot!), this is my favourite interpretation of The Arabian Dance. The movement of the central dancer is exquisite.

  • this was always my favorite of the various dances at the fairy court.

  • TCHAIKOVSKY IS AMAZING!!!

  • Deepest Scene of this ballet.Impressive.

  • what song is this called?

  • @sillysilentclara396

    Read the fucking title.

  • great choreography, but i would like to be able to hear the music as well.

  • @divinedgar if you had your sound on you could hear it

  • @MsSsunshine13 clever. i realize it is a subdued piece, but even with your valuable suggestion, it is fairly quiet.

  • the nutcracker its awesome, some music kicks ass but this cracks nuts!!

  • Truly inspiring instrumental music from the heart and the delicate dancer makes it complete.

  • I love how they represented this in animation in Fantasia. If you haven't seen it, I recommend it! <3

  • I love how they represented this in animation in Fantasia. If you haven't seen it, I recommend it! <3

  • i love this version because not only does it stick to the roots of arabian dance, but the song and dance itself are all ready very sensual, so they didn't dress the dancers in revealing costumes like many schools do now, because it's not needed. Costumes that revealing mixed with the music and steps only make the dance as a whole seem vulgar.

  • Çok güzel. Hem müzik hem koreografi hem de dans edenler.

  • majQa' (Klingon)

  • The Nutcracker is like entering into a totally different world full of magic and fantasy. Like a dream. Tchaikovsky wrote the perfect score for thie fairy tale.

  • Does any of you know whether or not Alisa Strogoya is one of the dancers in this vid? I've read that somewhere, but I am not sure :)

  • This is very beautiful, but I do like the peacock version more...

  • Love this woman. so nice she dance.

  • this is amazing. I love it. what is the song called?

  • @existamixa It;s The Arabian dancr from the ballet The Nutcracker.

  • Rüya gibi.

  • Original: Tchaikovsky - The Nutcracker (1994) (Щелкунчик.avi). Noticeably better, not HD.

  • Just beautiful. Liked it more than other versions, say from The Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky Mariinsky Gergiev Chemiakin: solo snake dancing. What is the original video name and where it could be taken from?

  • Who was the main soloist? And why was she having trouble with her single pirouettes? Beautiful dance though!!

  • favoloso...!!!

  • When I think of Balerina, I think of Europe.

Nutcracker dance of the flowers is my fav.

  • First time to watch 6 women dance the Arabia.

  • Mükemmel! (Perfect!) I liked this slow version so much =)

  • Pure Beauty. I'm Speachless!

  • They make this dance look so easy!

  • So beautiful

  • This is Georgian folk music theme which was used by the composer as the base of the melody; The original name of the theme is "Iav Nana" and it's Georgian lullaby

  • @Nooonika, that's interesting. I was noting how the costumes looked more Georgian, Turkish or Persian and not so much Arabian.

  • @spicedjellybeans I was thinking the same thing

  • @spicedjellybeans the costumes have nothing common with Georgia

  • I invite you to wacht "Fandango de Dª Francisquita Son Dameto 2008" and macht this dance whit Makarova.

  • I find this music very romantic

  • One of my fave parts of this ballet ~

  • i love the nutcracker because it incorporates the Spanish, Arabs, Chinese, Russians etc. all kinds of people and cultures

  • @cartergirl3of3 Kind of...it incorporates Tchiakovsky's version of them. It's an example, albeit a relatively tame one, of orientalism. This isn't really all of these people but instead sort of impressions, ideas, and/or fantasies of them as the European internationalist Tchiakovsky thought of them.

  • @hhistory Yeah I get it, It's kind of "the single story". But at least there was an attempt made...

  • I macht this ballet with Dª Francisquita- Fandango Son Dameto 2008- The girl contraste with Makarova. It is a dificult to choice.

  • very beautiful. A different version than what I am used to seeing but very beautiful. The movements were so fluid and graceful. Romantic and the lines and beauty of the ladies reminds me of the art deco period, along with the costumes. Brilliant.

  • Yes, the slowed down version of this is very powerful.

  • In the tom and jerry movie this song is played when they meet the dragons

  • Elegant and beautiful. Thank you for the video.

  • i never saw this in nutcracker shoes be4 but is niceee !!!!

  • OUTSTANDING!

  • what instrument is that clairanet or oboe?

  • @TheAmaul sounds like an oboe to me.

  • @TheAmaul Haha.

    The Clarinet plays the melody

The English Horn (much like an Oboe) plays at the same time, but raises the second note (the clarinet lowers the second note)

Lol sorry if that is confusing, but hope it helped... :)

  • What ballet group is featured in this video. Very well performed.

  • This song makes me mad because I've always wanted to do Arabian and I auditioned for it but she only chose three people and of those three one doesn't show up for class, one isn't very good, and thenother didn't bother to show up to the auditions... Grrr

  • so like are these the corpse members or no ?_?

  • excellente video, need more sound only ^^

  • i was a arabian one year in the nutcracker :)

  • @xLivexLysxLove

    that's what i am this year :)

  • MIDDLE EAST PRIDE!!!!!!

  • @dancedanceterminator the only thing this has to do with the middle east, is the west's wrong conception of it.

the, "alaadin disney movie" like attire is actually more to (india, pakistan, bangladish... etc) that part of asia.

    beautiful dancing though.

  • @dancedanceterminator and you so can be !!!!

  • who is the dancer on the middle??

  • I absolutely love how fluid their movements are!

  • @BeautifulLogic The fandango de Dª Francisquita is superior.

  • this is one of my favorite scenes fromt he nutcracker, the music really moves me but this version is okay she is graceful .

  • That's very graceful :) Especially her hands!

  • @sunnysugarsparkle The Fandango de Dª Francisquita has more moviment the hands and legs and more vigorously

  • this makes me feel like im in heaven for some reason

  • This is so beautiful. Is there a higher quality version viewable online or perhaps a DVD of this particular performance for sale?

  • Love this part.

  • The inspiration is armenian. Beautiful

  • oh god this is beautiful i was mesmerized for 5 min. and 9 sec.

  • so graceful . . . wow

  • i loved this music version, i don't like rushed versions

  • omg iuuukkk!

  • in disney they are fishes :D

  • What's the matter with the music? I don't seem to be able to hear it!!

  • @thomasojii31 then turn up the volume

  • @TheNortherner29

Hi there, Mmmm, volume is full on, however,I'm still having a problem hearing it.

    Thanks anyway.

  • @thomasojii31 well its a quiet song so i cant help you any farther than that

  • @TheNortherner29

    Thank you.

  • Is's music is taken from georgian lullaby

    Very nice

Tchaikovsky succeed to show the deep Arabic and oriental soul in this very nice peace

  • iavnanas gavs.

  • @aliceSimona iavnanas gavs ki ara iavnanas motivzea sheqmnili :)

  • وقال الذين اتبعوا لو أن لنا كرة فنتبرأ منهم كما تبرءوا منا كذلك يريهم الله أعمالهم حسرات عليهم وما هم بخارجين من النار

  • @lesabrhodood

صلي علنبي واستمتع بالكليب ربنا يهديك

  • I was an araibian at my studio. it was fun. our music was the tchyicovci or however you spell his name music not this

  • The best.

  • i love this song it reminds me of desperate houswives

  • @tkulas hahahaa

  • What a beautiful dance, and dancer =]

  • I absolutely love this piece, it's enchanting, mystifying. I can't get it out of my head, and in a good way!

  • @UsurperDunamis - I agree with you completely. Very enchanting and oh so mystifying.

  • @KleverGirl1 Which lost more kilcalories, Makarova or the oder one of Fandango?

  • well this isn't traditional balet...its another dance form intertwined with balet.

actually, its not arabian eitehr I can tell from the costume and dance style that it is Persian balet

  • @DontForgetIran2010 It 's funny - Not only you are stupid as a donkey, but you does not hesitate to show it on public.

  • @bazilior bazilior I think you are mistaking me for your mother. Now that is a donkey who brought you into the world.

  • *tears up*

  • We gonna dance this in a musical. Were dancing the water...

  • traditionally this song is a solo I think it's more fun to watch but this version was cute too! :) I like some of the moves they do.

  • That lead dancer is wicked sexy

  • The arabien dance is played in a g-minor scale but the intervall is harmonic.

  • What key signature is the arabian dance in?

  • 3/8

  • sorry thats time i meant B flat

  • It's like watching water

  • fast is not everything. even though the music in this version has slowed down, it is because to express ballerinas' dance more beautiful and dreamlike.

  • dreamlike is the best word to describe it! the music is based on a lullaby

  • Comment removed

  • Bravo ....bravo....

  • yes very different choreography. the one i watched last night was done by a couple. and they showed a lot of flexibility sort of like cirque. they became the hit of the show!

  • Hmmm interesting by any chance are you from Vancouver, since I've watched the Nutcracker about a week ago and they similiar performance as you are describing.

  • ya the Nutcracker at my studio was like that... it was very cool...

  • The version of this last night in Orlando Florida and the Convention center was way different... The main dancer was basically on a ring hovering over the stage doing amazing stuff... Very different from past versions i have seen...

  • well nobody did ask u, did they?

  • Well everybody is entitled to their own opinion. It's called freedom of speech moron.

  • is not faster?

  • Amazing......

  • omg my dance skool just did the nutcracker and our arabiand ance was exactly like this one! usually pple switch the choreography around a little to suit the dancer's skills, but our choreography was EXACTLY the same!

  • So they slowed the music down for the dancers?

  • No it was like that.

  • no this the way it's actually supposed to be. Mariinsky doesnt make its dances easier.

  • SEE THIS IT'S A MASTER PIECE

  • I was very impressed! i love it

I'm performing this song on piano, although the orchestral arrangement would be much better our school obviously doesn't have the musicians, let alone the instruments!

    haha

  • its not about how easy a dance is, its how well you dance it!!

yes maybe you could dance it but i bet you couldn't make it as mysterious as these girls do!!

  • that was beautiful

    sniff

  • okay, i know that there are some other names like this is also called tea

but the others? spanish dance= ??

russian dance= and so on xd

    btw, mariinsky is absolutely great!

  • the arabian dance is also called "coffee"

the spanish dance is also called "chocolate"

the chinese dance is also called "tea" and

the russian dance is also called "trepak"

    that should be all :)

i love this piece of music and the dance!! my favourite!! <3 <3 <3 loving the whole nutcracker really!

  • Thank you very much :D

  • I love this. After the million times I've seen the NYC Ballet's solo version, it's nice to get a group dance.

  • I've seen better dance interpretations, however this has got to be the best version music wise I have heard on YT...I prefer it slowed down like this as opposed to the rushed versions.

  • @tnj2323 I agree, I've been watching several of this company's nutcracker clips, and while I've been impressed with the video quality, the choreography isn't spectacular, and some of the dancers are not quite syncronized...

  • @tnj2323 I strongly disagree because we (School Chorus) had to sing a lyrical version of this song and I would love to see you hold out a note as long as you would have to ith this version.

  • @tnj2323

I agree. I love how they slowed down the music. What I don't think some people understand is how difficult it is to dance very slowly like that. Even as a dancer you can get bored with it very fast. Some of them weren't totally in sync with each other, but I think that is, at times, to be expected in ballet. Everyone makes mistakes.

  • i dont see how people could get bord watching this it is really amazing and the song is beautiful

  • absolutely beautifull... and ofcours it's Mariinski theater, what els?

  • This, along with the dance of The Sugar Plum Fairy, is my absolute FAVORITE dance!

  • Mine too!

I play this on my car stereo near Christmas time.

    beautiful song

    TJ

  • Ditto

  • Awesome! lol

you have such great taste. =) lol

  • что за музыка играет в балете?

  • Shaikowski will be proud

    5*

  • P.I.Tchaikovsky

  • Don't you mean: Tchaikovsky???

  • Right on! Teatcher

  • This is exactly the right tempo for this piece. Too many orchestras rush right through it and it just loses its wonderful mystery.

  • i know right? i was talking to my orchestra director about the tempo of this (we're playing it in my class) and he said that allegretto was the correct tempo, which i always thought was too fast.

    hmm, whatever...

  • It wasnt until I looked on youtube for this song that I found out that most people play it much faster than here... maybe the intention but I think this is a much better interpretation. This is the tempo they use in Fantasia, curious to know if that is what encouraged others to use the slower tempo or if Disney got it from somewhere else... hmmm....

  • I don't find this version very artistic and not much technical skill is displayed in the choreography.

  • I totally agree, I was thinking about the same thing when I saw your opinion.

  • @johnra70 Ballet is not only about technical skill. This particular piece of music is so powerful and persuasive, it doesn't really need feats of strength, just grace.

  • this song is quite fun to dance to...i m a dancer myself...!!!!!

  • love this music and dance and reallyy is that where he got the music cause he didwell =P

  • Exquisite isn't it?

  • this is an awesome!!! dance. I'm in the nutcracker and im in this dance. IT'S FRICKIN SWEETTTTTTT

  • Aaaaaah que bella melodia! como para dormir!

  • exactly... it's a melody of a lullaby ^_^

  • NICE ! I am bellydancer, I am agree thats not bellydance at all... but if u going to see something about irani dances... maybe it has something.... !

  • It's supposed to be Arabian, not Georgian!

  • chaikovsky used georgian lullaby to create the music of the arabian dance

    ...

  • I never said it's a georgian dance... only the melody is taken from the goergian lullaby song... :)

  • That's because Tchaikovsky took the Georgian lullaby and CHANGED it to sound Arabian. But it's true origin is from a Georgian lullaby.
