Just remember Roman Catholic was the 1st Christian Religion ever lived 2,000 yrs ago. The mother of all Religion. Thousands of denomination was just founded 100 to 500 yrs ago. What's that tells us? Roman Catholic was and is the only 1 true church founded by jesus christ and apostle peter, even says in the bble in front of u.
People of faith must stand together. As a Latter Day Saint I feel a great camaraderie with fellow believers who choose to speak out against the turn our society had taken for the (much) worse. If we don't stand together (which is what the Saints were doing in pushing Prop 8) we will fall separately, and one day, our religious freedoms will be deeply compromised in the name of so called "equal rights" for the emotionally troubled. The future of the US as we know it depends on our mutual support
@bomac10000 I feel the same, sadly most people have no idea of the long-term consequences of changing the definition of marriage for everyone. It is terrible and we could potentially lose the very freedoms upon which this country was founded the first amendment as well as others.
@edgwaterprog Actually, Catholic Relief Services and LDS welfare work together often in emergency situations. I am LDS and converted from Catholicism, there is far more in common in basis beliefs than you would think. I appreciate the thoughts expressed in the video, we stand shoulder to shoulder with other people of faith in this regard.
I really appreciate this video. While the Church of Latter-day Saints was the largest contributer of funds to pass Prop. 8, the success would not have been possible without the help of other faiths, who refused to alter their religions around the desires of people, but rather held true to their beliefs.
One of the main purposes of religion is that you don't change the religion or its principles; religion changes you.
I am a gay Catholic and you cannot force ur religion nor beliefs upon another human being. The Catholic church was against polygamous marriages, when the LDS church allowed such. Any church cannot impose its definition of marriage upon a nation.
@tyndarius if you actually knew what we believed then you would know your comment is ridiculous. The definition of traditional marriage has existed for thousands of years I hardly think we are the first to support it. Nor do I believe it right for homosexual activists to impose not only their lifestyle on others but to try to change the actual definition of marriage for the entire world. Talk about pushing something on others.
@tyndarius There is no forcing going on. It was put to a VOTE and it WON. It is now a GAY man that is forcing HIS belief on a state that VOTED a proposition into LAW.
Thank you for that. We love people with homossexual feelings just as much as we love all others. That doens't mean we must agree with all their demands.
Andrew Jackson once said 'allow every American have freedom of FAITH without any consequence or quarreling for we are NATION of FREEDOM and the pursuit of HAPPINESS
I agree, although people have persecuted the prophets all throughout recorded history the general public does not always have a history of common sense either. However, I'd have to also say that the energy spent bashing in ignorance could be much better utilized for something constructive and/or towards educating oneself and others to enlightenment versus ignorance and bigotry.
I truly appreciated this clip. thank you for standing up for your rights, and for another religion trying to make the world a better place. God Bless.
Yes. It's true. If gay marriage becomes legal, churches will be forced to perform marriage for gay people whether they want to or not. Just like right now, if a Jewish woman and atheist man who are legally entitled to marry walk into a Catholic church, let's say, the church is required to perform that wedding ceremony whether they want to or not.
Absolutely not. How ironic considering that the temples are built and used to focus on the spiritual and not the physical, to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ which include teaching the "higher law" of avoiding not just adultery but lust of the eyes as well.
I am thankful for the remind to have peace away from the chaos and constant attack of the media every where you turn, way too busy and I think we all need a break for inner-reflection to remember what Christ taught from time to time.
I'll echo what omiolo said, I wish that he would of had the fortitude to say the proper name of our church, but I dont want to spit hairs here. This is not a religious thing, it is a freedom of speech thing. I am sick and tired of the LGBT community claiming that they champion individual rights then turning around and attacking anyone that dares to differ with them. Its time that we fight back for traditional values and freedom of OUR speech too!
It is true that those who claim to be so open-minded except to those who don't agree with their viewpoints are as hypocritical as any group in history who has done the same. Thanks for your comment and God bless our freedoms let us all stand a little taller, speak out for our freedoms and help our neighbor regardless of faith or lack thereof! God bless America!
very much agreed, you are a good man obviously, thank you so much, in a world with everyone attacking the mormon church you stand up for it in the shower of bullets, truley Christ-like
I believe that all people of all faiths and none need to be united to protect and preserve all of our freedoms as they are slowly taken away. God bless America!
I do not wish to deny God because it is, was and only will be with God that we may be truly successful and blessed as a country.
Thank you that is correct, it is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints it has been the name from the beginning. I agree with mormonguruman that at least their intentions were in the right place.
I can let that slide although you are right it is a vital point considering our faith is entirely based upon Jesus Christ & to take out his name changes the meaning for me and all of this faith who try to live their lives based upon his teachings.
And just look at what is happening now that the voice of the people didn't vote against proposition 8, now they are having a panel of seven justices, six of whom already voted to review the challenges.
If this is not a wake up call then nothing is, what is next? Anything the voice of the people votes for will only become law if certain groups "approve" of their votes?
This is an issue of serious concern for all Americans if we want to preserve all of our freedoms, period.

Prop 8 made strange bedfellows out the Catholic hierarchy and the LDS Church, how funny is that?

Why would anyone want to fight with mormons? They don't harm anyone. They just want to live their lives and be left alone.
