Ya this one was the shit back then and well the new one isn't near as good watching you and grimmiths playthroughs made me look for it in the boxes in my basement
i dont have many subs or views and spam will make you less vies so maybe talk to a few gd lps (who are nice) to ask to watch you and if possible recommend you?
Wow. Nice, a LP of one of my all-time favorite games! I will watch this closely :-)
A coupe of things need to be added in the introduction of the 4 sides: The english start with 2 normal guys, the spanish start with 1 normal guy and 1 soldier specialist, and the french start with a normal guy and a expert pioneer, who chops down woods, builds roads etc in half the time. Thats not too bad and improves the usefulness of the french somewhat. Well, you mentioned what the dutch get already.
You know, the higher difficulties really arent that difficult if you have a somewhat elaborate overall plan of how you want to develop etc...
And I have never, ever have it happen that an enemy already had 3 soldiers at their city before about the 20th turn. He probably did too much wandering around which he lost track of before settling?
OMG... i'm on part 16, and it is going so SLOW!! Press Shift+F12 to speed up your dos box emulation. The game shouldn't run that slow unless you're on a 286.
@ioaz81 Yea you did. You played it like you were originally on a slow computer for the time. The game has a throttle so it's not going to go crazy fast if you increase the DOS Box CPU cycles. It just won't run deathly slow. I remember playing this on my Pentium 1. Ran smooth as glass.
I have to say thanks for the American History lesson since us British technically lost the Americans as a people our history books glaze over it all and normally end up at the industrial revolution. =P
i would like to ask one question if i may, how did you get colonization, i tried to get myself a copy of the game, no sucess, and when i downloaded one, it does not work with my windows, any help?
@deatscart To be honest, I have the orginal game. I installed it with the CD I own and then ran it in DosBox. You still need the CD to play it when you mount the CDrom!
It's great that you are doing a playthrough of this game! I would like to do this one as well, but you beat me to it! I blew so many hours playing this one, I remember my goofy friend had this and wouldn't let me borrow it. He didn't understand it, I taught him and he wouldn't let me borrow it anymore.
@aznluvr7 My best friend would bring his computer up to my house...back before laptops were big and he would set his up on on one side of the room and I would play at my desktop and we would play this days at a time.
01:55- Ah, so THAT explains everything... Don't declare independence until you're ready or else the Mother Country will roflstomp you. Everything has become clear now!
07:55- YOU DARE SULLY THE KING'S THOUGHTS WITH AN ABBREVIATION!? Such a foul beast you are!
09:10- Oh... wow. That music sounds so familiar compared to a track from Pirates Gold for the Genesis. Fitting considering that Pirates Gold is based off of Sid Meier's Pirates.
All in all, I feel like I'm in history class again. Huzzah!

@Luieburger You have to remember also that when you record it slows it down when you publish the videos.
ioaz81 8 months ago
@ioaz81 No it's not the video that is slow. It's the game while you were recording it. It's ok. I'll make a video about it and post it.

@Luieburger The LP is long over my friend. LOL Its ok

@deatscart try freecol which is a freeware version that has about 3/4 or so of the features and has some bugs in it.
