  • that's the best way to use technology! THANKS

  • This man really doesn't understand Sibelius; nor does he do what's written in the score. The Karajan and Vänskä versions for me!

  • Great piece, I love this interpretation. Check out 2:00, Bernstein makes such a funny smile, I could not help laughing.

  • Vienna horns are the wrong sound for this music. Needs more darkness.

  • @Haeronthegreat The horns achieve an extremely high standard in other, more important categories/aspects of performing this piece. (keeping pace with the rest of the orchestra in terms of emotional tone, energy level, emotional progression/continuity) The darker horn sound is replaced brilliantly by a beautiful horn sound with slightly muted emotions/expressiveness. (a fascinating alternative to your ideal horn sound)

  • Sibelius and Bernstein. A marriage made in heaven.

  • @fawlty07 I know. The same thing with Bernstein

    and Beethoven. Absolutely amazing! ;)

  • ¡¡¡bravo!!! magnifica sinfonía de Sibelius.Muy buena versión de Bersntein.

  • @norbertodelcp Si, mi amigo. Bernstein es muy bueno conductor.

  • 1:50, are they using baroque oboes?

  • @krby2821 They're using Viennese oboes. It's one of the quirks of the Vienna Phil. Oboes, horns and clarinets are different than any other orchestra in the world.

  • @feefeesmomma Why do you repeat that speech to krby2821?

  • @SuperMovieFan85 i was replying to his/her post...

  • @feefeesmomma Oh, all right. Thanks for that information.

  • I love how Bernstein just kind of nudges them along at certain parts.

  • this has a great sound. best symphony

  • Always one of my favorite symphonies, but I never heard it performed so incredibly spectacular. Bernstein always works magic on whatever he does.

  • Have just seen the second part - yes VPO, year 1988 - thanks!

  • @TheVaughan5 how d'd you get 'ts year

  • @13Orcun If you go to the 2nd part (conclusion) it states the year at the end of the credits.

  • The venue is obviously Vienna (Musikverein) with I guess the VPO - do you know what year this was recorded?

  • @TheVaughan5 i m not sure aboout its year but it can be got with web searching. The orchestra is vienna philarmonic.

  • großartig, danke!
