saw them a few weeks ago at in SF, 11th time seeing them live, seen them in nearly every state west west of Nebraska (several times in potland and seattle). The show last week could not have been better. Each song had the feeling of "how can they top that" ...then they would top it. I will be deeply depressed if Isaac or Johnny calls it quits anytime soon.
If any of you commenting on the change in sound from modest mouse you obviously have never made music before. You progress, you change things up, you change your sound up nomatter who likes it or doesn't. It's just how making music is.
man i love Modest Mouse , but i do have to agree with you guys man this is a touch more pure than they are now. I think their last two albums were way overproduced and Isaac kind of got stuck on that more hard edge rough singing and throwing his voice everywhere as opposeed to some of his more beautiful moments in the early years ... Lonesome and long drive man tough to beat those two ... Not to mention they were WAY more experimental and would get off on some good trippy jams mmmm
@Kenneyification Yeah I agree. I'm pretty sure smoking killed his voice, but I'm just glad to see that he's still making music. I hope he never stops.
@Kenneyification enjoy the music they make now because it's making them happy that's all that matters, musicians evolve and move forward, if they stayed the same nobody would progress. just enjoy the glass as half full insted of half empty.
@tonytiger666 you don't have to take it personal brother if not every one is into the same stuff. some people, including myself, dig the older stuff much more cuz its what we grew up with so theres more attatchment. Thats not to say that we, i, don't like the new stuff or think it sucks, theres just more of an affinity to what drew us to them in the first place, those early songs. thats the curse of liking a band from the very beginning. Its not negativity its just a point of view.
@MissingTime1 They have quite a few members now along with the 3 original ones. It's amazing to see them in concert especially when they have both drummers on set. No matter what condition they're in whether fresh on tour or beaten by the road Isaac and the crew somehow always put on an original show everytime.
@Dbot101 I know their lineup. I was just saying I want to see those 3 alone, at a small venue, playing songs made before 2003. I do like post 2003 songs, but it's my wish!
"Short love and a long divorce" Wow. Whoever came up withthat line is a genious. Love this song.
