I've had this amp for around 4 years. It's fantastic, great clean channel, great distortion, can do everything from blues to heavy metal perfect. I use it at tons of gigs, whether it be a bar or a wine tasting. This amp rocks.
@wowspare Its a solid state amp that has the feel and tone of a tube amp. I had one about 6 years ago and did some recording with it and the recording engineer complemented me on the nice tube tone and I had to break it to him that it was solid state and he was shocked. I am using a Fender HRD now that is about 3 years old and is ready for new tubes again so I am thinking about getting another Bandit because we do between 15 and 20 gigs a month and I want something reliable with tube tone.
@wowspare Tube amps respond differently to your picking, if you pick softly you get a cleaner sound even on an overdriven amp and when you pick harder you get the aggressive overdriven sound. Usually on solid state amps you can pick softly and you get the full blown distortion kind of sound, less dynamics when playing on solid state. The bandit is the closest amp heading toward the tubey kind of feel and sound that I have experienced. There are probably others but I am not sure.Hope this helps

From the vids i've seen on here, this amp sounds too bassy for what i want, you can it most in chuga chuga type riffs. I'm after the rythm tone George Lynch had in Dokken or the Ratt rythm tone. Can anyone recomend an amp on the smaller side like the Peavey Bandit, but that'd be perfect for the tone i want?
when i tried this out, i could find tones like that, as im into all that 80's shit, and i think it sounds cool, for if u want a smaller bandit, i think the envoy is the same...40 watt
This amp will give you every thing you have ever dreamed or. You just need the wright Heavy Metal pedal to make it real sweet. I use an old D.O.D Corrosion pedal with the Bandit, and I go to random jam sessions and people always comment on such great sustaine and lots of power.
nah its good man. Trust me, its freaking badass. not bassy at all if you EQ it. Its only bassy if you turn the bass all the way up and all tht other crap off. Or turn ur prescense off. Its a great amp 4 nething.
Just to let you buyers out there know that since there are different versions, there are different features.
The new one has a Boost feature, built in reverb, and a volume control switch with the options of 25% 50% and 100% volume.
Instead of the above, the older 2 have a Presence control (I believe it affects the frequencies that are even higher than the Treble/High) and a T.Dynamics, which allows you to change at what volume level the amp clips.
If your looking for an amp that can do high amounts of distortion, or want more treble, try something else. I would recommend a Peavey Vypyr to anyone who wants a lot more versatility, including a lot more distortion.
All in all, this is a great amp. If you like the quality of the sound, the high volume, and the cleans, but crave more distortion for your metal need, you could also hook this baby up with a Metal Muff or Uber Metal. Now you're set.
*** Just in case some of you didn't know, there are 3 models of this amp, I believe each has a different speaker, so don't expect them all to sound the same ***
This is a great amp, rented one before to play with. I had the volume at...I think 3 and i filled up a pretty big gym, so yeah, it's loud.
Its really great for a Metallica type tone, and anything similar. Yet it can still do lower gain music with crunch, and cleans.
Running out of room. Oh look 39 characters left...damn no more left.
how do i get a good drive sound from my bandit ... but on low volume i cant seem to find out how to do it .. i ajust the gains but that makes the audio louder!!!! big problem cuz i have a small room
Definitely, crank the presence to 10 as well, I put bass 4, mid 6, treble 5, sounds fantastic at super low levels. I'm playing a pretty hot guitar though, too, so that helps.

You sure you're adjusting the pregain and not the postgain? The gain is very sensitive you just have to be very careful when dialing in your sound
gjmvi 3 years ago
yh i figured out how to do it now lol .. pregain on full post gain on small .. tht gives a preety nice sound
