you need to make new sushi videos! i am making my first sushi tomorrow (just carrot for a filling and simple nori on the outside) I am vegetarian and picky XD any ideas for more fillings?
someday. avocado is great for vegetarian sushi rolls, as is cucumber, pickled daikon (the yellow stuff), tofu actually is surprisingly good... a combination of those...
I have never had any avacado before... and cucumber is not my thing haha! anyway I hate sweet rice so i wasn't too enthused by my suchi.... I like my rice salty or garlicy! ahaha
Perhaps I'm the only one out there, but this video was done SO rapidly that I couldn't follow what you were doing. My big trouble is trying to figure out how to lay out the fillet. I'm left-handed, and before 2 weeks ago, I was a vegetarian for 15 years, so I realy don't know what striations to be looking for in the meat in order to cut it properly. Any advice on a good balance between an affordable and a comprehensive sushi guide?
well the reason this video is a bit faster is because this one is just for cutting and plating... if you look at our other video which actually shows HOW to make a roll it hink you'll be a little less confused? maybe? let me know what you think. we don't actually have a video showing how to cut the fish yet, but hopefully that'll be coming soon.
howdy! it kind of depends on how serious you are about making sushi... i'd recommend just googling "sushi knives"... they can get pretty expensive. if you want a good one, get one that is traditionally made (made by hand) and folded metal... asides from that, cheap ones run the whole gamut, so i don't really have any recommendations for you, sorry :( i'd recommend checking amazon or something and just reading reviews.
Blowtorch, baby! Woo! LOL Sorry, that part just really impressed me for some reason. I had sushi for dinner tonight, but watching your videos are making me drool for more. :)
hey! really nice vid, there is one thing though... the text is changing way too fast! hehe... i cant both take the time to look at the sushi aaaand read the text - but maybe it's just me :)
yeah sorry about that... this was one of the first videos and we didnt have a chance to fix the text. guess you will just have to pause it or soemthing. sorry for the inconvenience!!

What kind of knife should I be using, usually when I cut the sushi it gets kind of *squashed* a bit by the knife.

make sure you include the blowtorch bit when you're making your own sushi. it'll teach your kids a lot about fire safety!!! (not really)
