this was amazing... every single actor in this movie was amazing, esspecially the girl that played Precious and Monique and surprisingly Alicia Keys! damn i love this movie. One thing i dont get is why did Mariah Carey get so much credit for her role... it wasnt even a big role. but anyways I love this movie... recommend it to everyone!

A very difficult film to watch on so many levels...but an important film to watch. If anything this film offers a great opportunity to speak out about the abuse that plagues many children in this country. The reality of what happens behind the door of what should be a "safe" place called home is instead an absolute nightmare....but there is hope in rising above and finding a better life, Precious gives that hope to us in this film.
More and more I avoid movies like this. Why watch such a movie? Like the world is not full of tragedies and injustices already and I am reminded of them at every step.Poverty, natural disasters,injustice etc.. The only reason that comes to mind is to appreciate more the life I live. I do that already.

Mo'nique (who plays the mother) explained that it is a story about all races and creeds who are battling with abuse and incest. This is a hard movie to watch, very raw and deep...but one that we need to see.

There are many problems with Precious but its greatest problem is that it leaves the viewer without hope for a better future, and this is unforgivable. Precious goes forward into the world as an HIV positive woman with two inbred children, one with Down Syndrome. What hope can she or her children possibly have?

I saw this trailer and I thought, 'Deja Vu'. No, not because I've been through this situation myself, but because of others that I've known. Know that situations like this don't just happen to one particular group over another. When I was growing up, I knew a girl who was victemized by her entire family! Her parents would take their frustrations out on her, emotionally, verbally and physically while her brothers would sexually abuse her. Something like this crosses all lines.

This is a story that the world needs to hear. and no, it is not supposed to be just about African-Americans. Mo'nique (who plays the mother) explained that it is a story about all races and creeds who are battling with abuse and incest. This is a hard movie to watch, very raw and deep...but one that we need to see.

In both content and structure Precious is very much like The Elephant Man. There are many problems with Precious but its greatest problem is that it leaves the viewer without hope for a better future, and this is unforgivable. I saw this trailer and I thought, 'Deja Vu'. No, not because I've been through this situation myself, but because of others that I've known. Know that situations like this don't just happen to one particular group over another. When I was growing up, I knew a girl who was victemized by her entire family! Her parents would take their frustrations out on her, emotionally, verbally and physically while her brothers would sexually abuse her. Something like this crosses all lines.

I just wanted to point out that hallrry's comments have no basis in reality. In fact this person is trying to insult by pointing out physical differences of races. HIs comments are uneducated at best and fickle at worst. The people asking for handouts when I get off the highway are white, serial killers tend to be white men, some white men also molest their daughters, beat their wives, steal and do drugs. Don't give hallrry the satisfaction of anger. He's just another anoying little white pest.

The poster's comments said that the black race is the reason "we" can't feel safe going to the store or letting our kids play in the park. He/she also commented on nappy hair and the black man being the one always asking for a handout.
I normally don't apply to these posts, but I could see how angry he was making people with the most ridiculous and unfounded comments. Bigotry really disgusts me and I'm sick of letting it be tolerated.

Anywayz...omg! This movie is definitely oscar-worthy! i went thru the same situation somewat. Monique's character talks/ acts EXACTLY like my mother. and the girl that plays "precious" is awesome. i am 4 sho' goin 2 c this soon! As 4 the ppl actually replyin to that guy: Umm why?
