  • Time for some headers !!

  • These old tri-fives never die.. As long as there is a chevy V/8 engine running there will be a 57 Chevy on the planet!

  • that's a really sweet '57. i never knew the early ones had the mirror mounted on the dash. way cool.

  • forgot to mention. is this a hardtop or sedan? 4 door? the dash mounted mirror i saw a 2 door nomad bel air that was titled 57 and had a dash mounted mirror.... also is this car like original or nanything? it looks DAMN GOOD!

  • It's a 4 door hardtop, body #438 I don't know what the cut off was for the dash mounted mirrors, but it was VERY early, they vibrated so they remounted them up top. It's not totally original, motor and trans are newer, the rest is pretty stock, I did just go with power disc brakes though.

  • OMG. my uncle has a 4 door hardtop. power windows power seats power brakes and is serria gold. we are restoring it. and the dash mounted mirriors i imagine vibrated loose. do you have a new vid of it? also 4 door hard tops are rare themselves because the back doors would rot and fall off. you got a rare car. my uncles is rare but not an early body number. u gonna restore it? its a bel air right? or 210?

  • Yea, my plans to restore it are taking some time, I have so many other projects, I hope to have it on the road this spring, and it's a BelAir, it had 55,000 miles on it when I got it in 1983, still had the original shocks on it.

  • so what your saying is you have the only 57 chevy titled as a 56 with a dash mounted mirror? post some more info about the car

  • I doubt it's the only one. It was a very early pre-order, and I guess unlike today when you can get a 2009 in 2008 (in september) it's titled as an 09 anyway. But this car was and is titled as a 1956 Chevy. I have yet to see a 57 with the mirror mounted on the dash. I have seen dealer service bulletins dealing with the vibration issue with the early units, later corrected by moving the mirror up top.

  • I know what your saying, but its a little hard to believe they didnt title it as a 57 kinda a freak if you ask me, only reason I inquired is the fact that my dad bought a new 58 Impala in November 57 (still owns it) he has the original 57 license paltes for it, but its always been titled a 58. either way kool car thanks for the info.

  • check out cardomain website its free to join and poat some pics of it there

  • You are correct but they did have some '57s that had the dash mounted mirror--my friend Devon's had the dash mounted mirror, and was built in the Atlanta plant in november of '56, and the service bulletin did for fact tell dealers to convert to the rood mounted mirror if customers complained of the vibration. Only the early '57 4 door hardtops had this dash mounted mirror.

  • Thanx for the info, I know there were others out there, but as of yet I haven't seen one for myself. I wonder how many are left with a dash mount mirror?

  • Yeah as a matter of fact yours is the only other one I have seen other than my friend's. When you decide to restore it I would keep it on there just like it is, perhaps put a piece of thin cork gasket underneath it to keep it from rattling!! Cool vid!!!

  • what seriel number is the car!? there was a 150 chevy sold on barret jackson thats chassis number wass 00001 and body number 000002.

  • is it for sale wheres the car located?pls reply back asap.

  • Sorry, not for sale, I have had this car for 25 years now, it's too sentimental to let go...

  • Thats what i first thought when i was watching the video man,i just gave a try if it is for sale or not,but yah i agree vintage car like that is very sentimental to let go,its just my dream to have one of those cars,my neighbor has a 67 chevy impala and 67 mustang all stock and he got those two cars all the way from ohio and were from cali.Anyways take good care of that car.

  • Thanks for the quick reply.

  • Need a might bit of word.

  • cool!!!

  • sweet.
