2:08 look at him run the fast break. Are you kidding me? What center today can run the floor with his speed? Oh yeah, he averaged 48.5 minutes a game in 61-62. There is only 48 minutes in a game. He never got tired.
Skinny 7'2 center shooting fade away shots with an ugly ass shoting form? I don't want to sound harsh or anything, but the only reason why he scored that much is because the league back then was shit. Big mans didn't know how to play D, shoters had bad shoting form and point guards had bad ball handling! I'm not hating on the guy, he was doing good back then, but he would get murdered now days!!!!!
@NoLimitzSB Don't worry, you don't sound brash. You just sound like a f****g moron. Wilt was thin, wiry, and incredibly strong. I know guys who played against him. They said that leaning on him was like leaning against a granite column. He couldn't be moved or stopped, the strongest man, by far, to ever play B-Ball. That's why so many people said he could play ANY sport: he had this ridiculous body, a combination of strength, speed, agility. GREATEST EVER.
@NoLimitzSB Wilt would be greater today. GREATER. Hello? You're too young to remember, but the league had fewer teams then, and all of them had big, strong centers, and all played good defense. There is no one (Shaq came closest) to being the type of player at center that was common back then, players that took up space or were very very strong. Dwight Howard?? What a joke. Wes Unseld could pick him up with one arm. Wilt would flick him away with a finger. Idiot.
@LazlosPlane Where did I mention Dwight Howard? Why are you calling me an idiot and a faggot? Why are you getting mad? Come on, if you're older then, then please act older then me...I know a lot about basketball, I might even play pro in africa soon...I just said what's my opinion, I believe that the defense back then was shit...Now please act your age and reply something without insulting me and without getting mad...Thank you
@NoLimitzSB I didn't call you a faggot. Idiot, yes. Faggot, no. I can't help insulting you when you talk so stupidly and without any knowledge of the things you write about. Jesus, you are clueless. Chamberlain would get murdered? Only a real moron could write something like that. You obviously know nothing. Stop it. Write when you have a clue.
@LazlosPlane It's cool to see you have no education, insulting someone for having an opinion is low...You should be ashamed of yourself, I believe that 90% of the players of his era would suck today, that's my opinion...In no way Wilt is scoring 70pts a game...Now I'm going to stop replying to your comments, because you have no respect...Have a good day sir
@LazlosPlane i have no doubt that chamberlain could be the best center in the nba as of right now..its the 90's i doubt...yes there where more hall of famers in the 60's and 70's but hakeem olajuwon, pat ewing, shaq and david robinson should be on everyones top 10 list thats 4 players who are on just about everyones top 10 list of centers all-time in the nba and they all played in the 90's...wilt was great but i doubt that he would be any where near as dominant in that era
@LazlosPlane Dude you obviously don't know squat about basketball and what it has turned into today. Professional players back then were a LOT less athletic, a LOT smaller, and a SHIT-TON less skilled than they are today. Wilt wouldn't have been able to pull off the same things he did back in the 1950's and '60s. Great player, but he played against VERY weak competition bud.
Weak competition? Chamberlain faced off against Russell, Thurmond, Bellamy, Jabbar, etc. up to 8 or 9 times EACH in a season. Every other night he was battling a Hall of Fame center while getting double and triple teamed in the paint. How many times a season does a guy like Dwight face off against an All-Star caliber center? Maybe once a month? The pace of the game was also faster back then and no 3-point line meant dealing with much less spacing.
its not so much the weak competition that made him such a good scorer. Back then basketball was played the way it was intended, meaning you players could barely touch each other. Somewhere along the line players decided to start bulling into each other and the game has evolved into what it has today where contact is normal on every play. If you watch the video you dont see wilt backing down the other players and basically just trying to shove them out of the way like someone like dwight does
@dvicars512 ......RU serious dude ??? there was MORE contact back in the day... all the way up till 5 yrs ago when DAVID STERN changed the rules to allow MORE scoring, MORE offense for entertainment value.... you can't hand check now at all, there's 3 seconds, a 3 POINT LINE for god sakes... WILT is the best player ever.. by far..
@JayGatsbyOdysseus Sorry if you got messages for two other replies, I deleted them, I was commenting the wrong video lol. Anyways I try to look at Wilt and players of his era as objectively as possible. Never once did I ever believe he or Oscar would put up the same numbers today, I know way too much about the style/rules/equipment/players that set trends changing the style of the game to what it is today. What I stated about player heights is just a fact. It isn't a practice of favortism.
Wilt used to get double teamed alot, even tripled teamed. He could score 100 points now or in any era. Wilt's stats are the truth,he could post those numbers in any era
@tuzwol not a chance. do you see how much bigger he is than everyone else? he'd be great but he could not score 100 points against this era's defense. being double and triple teamed by a bunch of 6'4 white guys is different then being double and triple teamed by 7 footers
@NBAGOATS at least one per team i would say. Centers and players in general are bigger now days is all im saying. i heard wilt say in an interview that he would average 70 points in this era and i dont believe it for a second
@austin78993 Who? I don't know of any. Dwight Howard is the best Center in the game today and he's not a 7 footer. I don't think Wilt would average 70 but I do think he could average 40 or 50. He has no competition today. Maybe in MJs era he would have a much tougher time with all the 7 footers playing then. But today would be easy for Wilt.
@austin78993 The only true seven footer (Who starts) is Andrew Bynum. Garnette, Gasol and Duncan are all closer to 6'11. They are not true seven foot centers like Ewing, Bradly, Bol, Kareem, Russell, Shaq, Ming, or Wilt. Even Hakeem was was not a true seven footer. Wilt would eat the league up today. Too easy. Plus, you can't touch a guy.
@NBAGOATS Oh I'm sorry yeah. i meant the 90s when i heard him say in the interview that he could average 70. there were some damn good centers and powerforwards in the 90s. he would not come close to 70. In this generation though playing against only howard and bynum he would absolutely dominate probably average like 35 points 13 rebounds at least.
@NBAGOATS Bill Russell was actually only 6'10" and he was the most successful center of all time. Being over 7 foot isn't everything. Rus could match the best guards of his era for speed, baseline to baseline. He had a 44 inch vertical leap which is tremendous for a big man and he had a 90 inch wing span. Nate Thurmond had the most success in limiting Kareem's scoring and he was 6'11". Hakeem who is 6'11" has a higher playoff points per game average than Wilt or Kareem. Height is just 1 factor.
1:39 - Goal tend haha. The players back then didn't know how to play defense whatsoever. No wonder this guy could score 100 points in a game. This was back in the day when the game plan was probably "get it to the 7'2 guy, nobody can defend him" haha. Wilt was still good though, but his amazing stats are a bit misleading.
@kruunk1 No, he was a tall guy with hops. That's why he did so well. 100 points isn't easy even if they didn't know how to play defense well. Yes, he should be regarded as one of the best NBA Players.
I never said he sucked. I said his stats are misleading cause of the sucky competition. I'm sure he'd be great in today's NBA...probably nowhere near as dominant though

I thought a better song was needed for this highlight.
Im not saying I don't like the song, Im just saying they could have used a smoother Beat for a man who was smooth with with the ladies off the court, and was versatile on the court. This song is better for a NFL Linebacker highlight
