reason itachi killed clan:

clan decides sasuke is to weak, so they are going to kill him. itachi finds out, and kills clan, unaware that mom is going to run away with sasuke the next morning. itachi feel bad, (finds out from hokage) so itachi tells sasuke to hate him and to kill him, so he has a purpose and doesn't feel bad for himself.
