Reminds me of Dr. Who's Cybermen. Cybermen were created by human as the next step of evolution. The only 'flesh' Cybermen have are their brains, the one thing they believe worth while of a human being, and they replaced the rest of the body with machine. Cybermen also use inhibitors to suppress emotions, deem it a weakness of mankind. The problem is, without flaws, they lost their humanity and thus lost touch with what's truly important in a mortal's life.
