• Jesse Jackson Calls for 'Radical Reordering' of American Economy is a socialist, like Hilter. watch?v=E_vCLQnebX0

    .

Jesse Jackson should start by giving up his $10 million (from celebrity net worth com) before asking others to give up their money. President Obama who also wants to spread the wealth has $5 million. watch?v=Sj4yIE9Dd90 & watch?v=PUvwKVvp3-o

  • Bomani, I can really respect what you are trying to do, but I think it is kind of compromising to use the language that you do. I understand what Jesse is saying also. I love Christian rappers for this reason, even though some people will turn that away from that message, quick, because they don't care about the religious message. I'm kind of mixed on the issue, though, because, it did get the exposure that this message deserves.

    Peace and God Bless

  • yo, I know Bomani, personal, He always made positive music, without cursing and without dumbing down his lyrics, it took him to do "Read-A-Book" to get any recognition. Jesse Jackson is pointing fingers at Bomani saying that he is degrading our people, what about rappers like lil' wayne, young jeezy, guccie mane, so on and so forth. Jesse Jackson is a "House Nigga" he needs to "read a mother fuckin book" lol

  • download Bomani's "New Classic" mixtape at notarapper(.)com

  • Bush made him do it!

  • what i realize about rev. jackson and the cnn reporter from the other clip is that they both were more worried about how it looked to white people than the actual effect of the video. rev is out of touch. He is out of touch with the dire situation of the majority of the black population in america. He said dont bring us down to bring us up. WE ARE ALREADY AT THE LOWEST POINT.

  • jesse goes around looking for some small racial issue to blow out of proportionso he can extort money from poor blacks by fear and hatred geared towards whites.

  • I wanna cut your nuts off.

  • Jesse Jackson is too old to understand what Bomani is doing with the cartoon. It's too bad, but time and tide catches up to all men. One day we will all be old and confused and scared by the newfangled things youngsters are doing.

  • rev jackson is sending us back to the 1930's racially.

  • Jesse Jackson is no longer useful for African(american)prosperity or uplift. What does he actually DO anyway? I think the brother is a pawn for and by white people to make black feel we have a leader of some sort. Honestly what does the man actually DO for black people?

  • FUCK HOPE!!!!!!

  • jesse is so funny! check it out around 1:36 when he "slips" and says bitch!

  • Jesse Jackson's fool. He has no idea what satire means. Ig-nit!

  • You are right. He is a fool. Why is it many (not all) older generational African(americans)are so resistant to new approaches to anything. They always talk about 'when we were growing up'. I want to tell them that their methods don't work anymore. Move over and let someone else drive.

  • hahahahaha

  • Another cowardly closet racist who obviously takes advantage of the internet to post coomments that they don't have the heart to say face to face.Trust me there are more white people on welfare than any in this country.

  • you dumbass your placing all people into a box because of the stereotypes. I know plenty of blacks that don't fit the discription BET would like to pave as being true. And for your information cunt wrinkle more whites are on welfar then balcks though that is the old tall tale people pave. Go look at a damn survey. And there is still a lot of racist dilema acted out on all people and though people must take responsibility for actions they take but influences are just that= INFLUENTIAL.

  • Everything that's white ain't right, and everything that's black ain't wrong.

People who think in terms of groups, instead of individuals, are the problem.

    (and I'm white!)

  • Sepero1 your right but people who play into stereotypes make things that way

  • Rev. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton is causing more harm than good for minorities. I am sooooo emabarresed that these activist try to justify the african american criminal offenders action. Don't get me wrong, I am black too! but both of them play the "race card" on something that the individual deserves. Look at Jena 6, the juvenile that is detained has a history of offenses. The last thing I need is for this black activist to justify these minority actions

  • Wow...Jesse Jackson really comes off as clueless in this video.

  • I am so sick of this phony "reverend". A serious question...when was the last time this blathering fool actually got up on the pulpit and actually preached a salvation message? I'll bet its been decades, if ever!

  • Jesse Jackson is a fool, he hurts race relations more than anything, he's one of the most racist people in power.

  • No offense to Jesse Jackson, but I could not understand a DAMN thing he was saying.

  • can u make a comment without using the n word

  • In the Black community, there's a disconnect between our parents and religious leaders, and younger generations. Instead of being offended by the content in the video, we should take a look at why this type of content is acceptable in Hip-Hop. Rims, b*****s, and violence are in 90% of Hip-Hop music and videos. This video is a parody; it made us take a look in the mirror, and we hate our reflection. If we don't like how we look we should change our appearance.

  • u are a racist bitch

  • i love the vid

  • Thank you for standin up for us... My Heart goes to you!!!!

  • It is funny how black leaders focus on the delivery of a message instead of the content. They are so offended by the words "NIGGA", "MOTHERFUCKA" and the image of a black woman with a big behind that they disregard the fact PEOPLE NEED TO READ A BOOK!! If they hate the delivery so much, then they need to come into our communities and show us how it is done.

  • Everyone freaking out about this one POSITIVE song amongst a million NEGATIVE songs using the same method is just insanity. During the CNN coverage you had a panel of parents talking about how they didn't want their kids seeing "Read A Book" on BET, as if the other videos and songs played around it feature more positive messages that their kids SHOULD be watching. Using satire to point out the flaws of the prevailing rap culture is how you trick kids and adults alike into paying attention.

  • I repeat!!! Jesses is out of tune with HIPHOP KULTURE!!!!! soon it will be HIPHOP vs. CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT!!!!

  • the time has come my friend...

  • 1st of all "Read a Book" is the greatest Hip-Hop song ever written. 2nd, Jesse Jackson is a politician. A politician's job is to distract people away from issues that really matter in order to engage them in an endless pursuit of non-issues so nothing ever changes. Based on what he had to say about this video, he's doing his job splendidly. Open your eyes, open your eyes, open your muf*ckin eyes!

  • i wish all these wannabe civil rights leaders would take to task the rappers who be on tv peddlin unimaginative, oversexed, blinged out corporate sponsored trash. when bomani, bill cosby, julia hare tell it like it is, people attack em but none of these so called leaders go after the real source of the problem. if we want people to respect us, it starts with us respectin ourselves.

so go read a book, drink some water and try buy some property. instead of a KING mag, a 40 ounce, and some rims

  • Read a book people.

  • People can attack this song that's exposing the foolishness you watch everyday... It's scary that people are this dumb.

  • kEEP DOING YOUR THING B.nobody complained when "feeling on your booty" was on the radio 3times in 5hours.kids using "read a m-fing book" as an insult rather than suck this, or kiss that sound like an improvment to me.peace.

  • i agree...

  • someone should have told T.I. 2 read a m-fing book.

  • haha.. yea.. too bad more of my people don't read on a regular basis..

  • he got a little time now,to incress his vocabulary like Malik elHaj Shabazz,he kept learning ,& changing his whole life.we must spead this message like B is doing. . .. . .."READ A MOTHERFUCKIN' BOOK!" straight like that!the truth, hurts smart people listen anyway.

  • Big ups to you Bomani. I don't know how you managed to keep your cool on CNN or on Michael Baisden's show. It was frustrating to me that the point flew right over their heads. And George Wilborn talking about the klan poppin their bottles over this? WTF? Man, keep doing your thing! One man to another, I have to say that you're doing an excellent job. Peace.

  • keep up the good work

  • I would like to knwo why Jesse Jackson is against this song but he has not spoken out against the Jena 6. I had this song on my myspace page for a long time b4 it had a video. I am glad it is receiving all of this attention.

  • This video and song is revolutionary... people keep trying to diss it but if he was saying "Shake yo as shake yo ass shake yo mafuckin ass" there would be no problem... Finally a rapper found a way to make the idea of reading cool and these dumbasses want to bash him for it... Does Jesse have a better way to get people to sing a song about reading a book???

  • "Does Jesse have a better way to get people to sing a song about reading a book???"

Get real hahaha, he's REACTIONARY not a REVOLUTIONARY. His style of "leadership" is made to "address the problem", not solve it. LOL

And that's why I do not claim him as my "leader"..

  • Sad thing is he used to be that kind of guy...well, he was closer.

This does not empower Imus and Michael Richards because they said what they said in a derogatory manner. Rev. Jackson's point totally ignores context...and that's more dangerous than the words themselves. There's a difference between a journalist repeating a quote containing the n-word because it's central to a news story than someone actually saying the word.

  • Dj, I definately agree w/ you on that one.

  • U got my VOTE on that!!!!

  • I can't believe this is the song that got him riled up.

Lauren Hill of the Fugees on from the album "The Score" the song "Zealots": "And even after all my logic and my theory / I add a motherfucker so you ignorant ni***z hear me"

  • i thought about that too

  • has Jesse gave support and to those in New Orleans. Has he written the boys in jail in Jena. I do agree with Jesse on his views. Those terms r a disgrace. I never heard the song and don't want to.

  • Grant it, his views on 'bad language' are on point, but he should have been around a LONG TIME AGO! Remember when it was unheard of to hear a cuss on a CD in the 90's? Remember when a lot of Hip Hop artist were putting speeches over an instrumental?

When all of that changed, and excuses were made (especially from label execs) NOT to promote that, he should have aggresively been on the scene THEN!

  • I see. I feel for Mr. Jackson, he's part of the old guard that doesn't exist anymore in the African American community. Also his creditability is shot more than dick chaney hunting. He thinks that he must speak on a multitude of issues to stay relevant within the United States as well the African American Community.

  • He must understand that artists such yourself are keeping hope alive as well as fighting Viacom and Radio One at their sick capitalistic controlling game. And that every now and then you have to add a mothafukka so them ignent n!GG@s hear you.

  • We have to get a better team to surround the retired Jackson in order to make him relevant again. It starts with getting him a street team filled with nothing but black folks, preferably dudes wit guns.

  • These gentlemen would tell him whats hot and whats not. And no snitching would be the code that they would use. This would give him street cred. Also we leak his police record and delinquent child support statements, to ensure that he is black enough as the people he is serving, we don't need no barack obama shit.

  • Then we shoot a music video by Hype Williams entitled Keep Hope Alive. This would feature a sample by Kanye of George Bush doesnt care about black people. Mr. Jackson would then take the I have a dream speech and make it is own or plagiarize. He would say things like I ve been to the mountain top and fell and now I am donnie mcclurkin myself to get back up and lead those that dont want to be lead. yea thats it, thats the hot shit. Notarapper dot com

  • You think i could download that on Napster LOL

  • Wow.. bro.. wait till they get a load of me!

  • NYOIL, Who you telling??

  • LOL.. the funny thing is.. they have no idea that we are legion.. aligned in one cause and one mind in one time...

(need a beat for that one eh)

  • Well done Bonami, this dinosaur thinks that words are the problem, words are nothing without context.

  • This debate could go on forever, but let's keep it real. The 106th & Park audience is skewed to a younger audience, period. So if you're making a video "satirizing" the illiteracy of that audience, here's a question for you Bomani--if the kids can't read, what the blip makes you think they even know what satire is or means? If he can show me even 10 kids who signed up for library cards or picked up a newspaper after watching that video, cool.

  • No matter what your education level is, if my generation and the one following understands anything it's being a smart ass. Sarcasm and satire is a concept that does not depend on school education, just a basic level of critical thinking that we get from "joning" and joking all the time. To assume that someone 11 or 12 does not understand satire is actually insulting. I can show you way more than 10 children who where inspired to do better by the video.

  • It's not about reading! The satire is about an industry that only lets positive messages out if they add a muthafu@#a and have some "big booty hoes" dancing to it. WOULD JESSE JACKSON HAVE EVER HEARD READ A BOOK if the video and lyrics were not totally audacious? NO! Would we be having this discussion? NO. Satire creates discussion. Good now when are we gonna stop attacking one song and start attacking this industry!

  • "WOULD JESSE JACKSON HAVE EVER HEARD READ A BOOK if the video and lyrics were not totally audacious? NO!"

What's more interesting is, you wont expect him to promote it either.....

  • Good response Bomani. It seems like you were the only one of two people engaged in the topic of conversation.

  • COME ON - WATCH THE VIDEO !!! 90.3FM WHCR suppport ya! Bomani --- STAY THE COURSE and KEEP HOPE ALIVE as he travels in LONDON WHILE New Orleans is suffering and the JENNA SIX is jailed!!

  • Jesse Jackson is Full Of Shit! Read Shakedown! "Jesse is a Race Hustler period!" It's A Satire period! Come On Jesse!

  • Hey bo I am one of Jesse's soldiers too, just please point me in the direction so we can continue to shoot satire everywhere that it is needed. Oh yea just one more thing, what is satire? Long live Read a Book and the Grown Man Mixtape and Bomani "D'mite" Armah at Notarapper dot com.
