I recently have semi-retired from the game, once again, but very recently, I was able to play for a week or so and experiment with 4.0 and my new tier 10 set. Here's what I found and my opnions...
The way things work now, as far as how the spec changed, I feel is a bit dodgy and needed to be better thought out before they implimented the game. Blizzards direct comment was that druids had plenty to work with, as far as spell rotation went. (continue-)
With druid, it is a common occurence to see either A) A very compitent druid who plays their class properly and maximizes rotation or B) A faceroller. The druid rotations, for all specs pre 4.0, were all very unforgiving. The resto rotation was the least unforgiving while kitty form was the most, which is why you saw so many boomkins and tree druids as compared to others. What blizzard has done is essentially laid the track of resto druid rotation and forced us into playing a (continue-)
set timing structure. It's not unlike how it used to be, as far as having to time out one's wild growths and counting rejuvenations, but what's essentially changed is the numbers. What I noticed is that, because of the nerf to WG, what one has to be concious of now in rotation is A) keeping swiftmend on cooldown at all times possible and B) aiming effloressence. This is different from the way the class used to work because I feel that it took more skill to have to actually aim (continue-)
rejuvenations at critical targets and have a priority list rather than just casting them sporadically to fill in slots of a rotation while waiting for WG and swiftmend to be off cooldown. The idea was good, on blizzard's part, to create more of a safety net for those who haven't played the game as long as some of us have, but every time this happens, it blurs the line between those of us who consider ourselves refined, professional quality players with mere amateurs. Maybe it's because I'm a dinosaur and I remember that back in the day, there were only two spells in a druid's arsenal. Rejuvenation and regrowth. That was all we had. Slowly, we've been added on-to, and the most impactful change was the addition of lifebloom. Lifebloom was added along with wild growth, but they took it out of the game at that point, a fact some people don't want to remember. The change to lifebloom kind of disqusts me, and not being able to use it as a primary (continue-)
resource and only on one tank GREATLY decreases our efficiency, at the cost of the said safety net blizzard decided to impliment upon us. It is indeed exciting, to be "super-tree" now, but really, I feel it was just a giant disquise for blizzard to change the player's individual ability to improvise and adapt to a rigid, structured mechanic. I'm not for that. What makes druids capable players is our creativity. I won't even begin to describe the endless response, but that's just my view. -P
@TrunJun420 Vary nice view, honestly I have no way of knowing how things will be at 85. A buddy of mine that's on beta has told me the 5mans and raids are actually challenging as far as mana goes for restoration druids. I've wished for a while now (pretty much ever since i out geared most of what my buddy's were doing on live) that it could go back to a need for smart players. Mmo's are not made for everyone. Things like; class design, the ease of getting free epics, even achievements [continue]
@TrunJun420 ,,,, are being changed around to appeal to more people. The problem is that makes some specs/classes a "face roll". So far by giving us some but at the same time taking away (lifebloom on more then 1 target for example) I think it will be challenging at 85, and hopefully the "noob" players will (as they should) get discouraged for running out of mana and quit the game.lol
lmao i had a buddy of mine type out that way to sound it out perfectly like you just did in game a few days ago.lol,
I did love the old way it would proc off regrowth, but its roll with the punches really. I knew blizz would ether take the enchantment for regrowth away from tree of life or change what spell if proced off of. With Regrowth i could stack it up on the tank and healing got rather boring.lol So for that reason im glad they changed it.lol
how should u gem as a resto pvp druid???
