We attacked sumter AFTER the amassing of a navy outside of our borders and AFTER we told them to vacate Sumter and they still tried to refill it. Nearly every southern State besides Texas and Flordia have small Mexican population in the hundreds of thousands, somtimes less, Mississippi I probably saw 200 Mexicans in the three years I lived there.

By using the speeches the reasons of the Civil War can be discovered and how they felt about it. We can tell by the Cornerstone Speech that the Confederacy believed that there was no equality in all men and that some were not created equal and deserved servitude by their birthright.

Davis was in favor of bringing equality to the white and black races, just like StoneWall Jackson and Robert E. Lee. Only 3% of the South was in favor of slavery. The remaining 97% did not own any slaves.

Nearly every southern State besides Texas and Flordia have small Mexican population in the hundreds of thousands, somtimes less, Mississippi I probably saw 200 Mexicans in the three years I lived there.

It stands for FREEDOM, & resistance to tyranny- plain and simple. everytime we hear some northern lapdog spreading falsehoods we need to counter it with the truth, and fly the Battle Flag whenever possible. I will have to agree with this video, I am a northener myself but I believe that the south had a God given right to secede, (and it still does). Like I said I am yankee born and breed and proud of it too. And I think that the south should secede from this powerful federal government. They have every right, it is in the constitution. Read it and weep federalists.

Franco, thank you for such kind and wise words. It means more than you know to speak them. Your home up there is divine, beautiful, good food, my goodness such fun people I met when driving there. Very different cultures, North and South. The Constitution speaks the truth and I believe we could have gotten along fabulously if the South had been allowed to leave. I understand your love for your heritage, and history, and I'll assume that you are not racist, but you have to admit that, that flag is a symbol of a heritage that hates.
If that's acceptable, then the swastika should be accepted as well.
Just a different view, if you are open to a different perspective on this issue.

angbugoy, the flag has been distorted as a symbol of hatred but it is not. So many races fought under the flag that it is impossible to declare it hateful based on race.

The swastika is an ancient symbol that has been used by many different cultures - from Hinduism, Buddhism, Native Americans and even Judaism - throughout history. It's been around for over well 3,000 years and has always been considered a symbol of good fortune. Thanks to Hitler, everyone has a distorted and negative view of it. So how ignorant does that make us, to suddenly dispise (or, in the case of neo-nazis, misuse and misrepresent) a good symbol because of one vicious dictator?? PUH-LEASE!

the american flag flew over slave ships for years and years,the confederate flag NEVER flew over any slave ship. so ask yourself what is racist a flag(the american) that was flown over slave ships or a flag(the confederate battle) that was flown in battle and never over a single slave ship

This is 100% correct. There were many different races in the Confederacy. Cherokees free blacks whites jews Even one of the Confederate generels was from a european country. But he was unfailr hanged without sufficient evidence. I am refering to Andersonville. He should not have been hanged. He was doin' his job. and after the trial and sentance all of the witnesses admitted to pergerry at the stand. We do have our southern hospitality and Lee was a very respectable person. Deo Vindice

Absolutely, Crazycuntryboy, it was one nation of many races fighting another with many races. (totally agree with you about Wirtz and he could not even feed his own men due to the Federal actions of destruction). Lee never called them names, just "those people" and never was disrespectful.

I'm from the north and I realized that the North and South should leave the past in the past and we should move on as friends. Please don't hate us, most of us are good people like I am certain that most Southerners are good people.

Ryanger91, there are so many issues. It is complicated. Personally I do not hate. I would be lying if I said I do not feel historically, a sense of... resentment... but the Northern states are full of beautiful people and places. I have been treated kindly on each and every trip I have made up there. So your people are good ones. In 1860 it would have been sadly different. Even General Robert E. Lee never referred to Northern forces in a negative manner.

Yeah man that's what I'm talking about. In the past we may have differed on issues, and we still do today, but that doesn't mean we can't be friends. We also may have slightly different cultures but we're still all Americans and that's what's important at the end of the day.

Without the South to exploit, the north would have been berift of raw material. That was understood by the South, and backed by England, who wanted to keep an interest in America. Complicated? Yes of course. So it is called a war to free slaves. propaganda, yatta yatta

Looking at the documents and speeches of the time really tell what the people were thinking and told what to think just as we look to our politicians to lead us today. By using the speeches the reasons of the Civil War can be discovered and how they felt about it. We can tell by the Cornerstone Speech that the Confederacy believed that there was no equality in all men and that some were not created equal and deserved servitude by their birthright.

The south rejected Jefferson. In the Cornerstone Speech by Vice President Alexander Stephens: "Jefferson's ideas, however, were fundamentally wrong. They rested upon the assumption of the equality of races. This was an error. ... Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite idea; its foundations are laid, its corner--stone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery — subordination to the superior race — is his natural and normal condition."

not quit accurate. lee said that there was no better man for the job. he didnt even want the job.one union illinois regiment said that they would rather lie down in the forrest and wait for moss to grow on them before they fight to free blacks.nathan bedford forrest which has been accredited for the fort pillow massacre and not true being the first wizard of the kkk. actually he gave a speech to an early forruner of the naacp on race relations shortly after the war.

It doesn't matter whether the South rejected Jefferson Davis or not, he was still the President of the Confederacy. Davis was a good man. Davis was in favor of bringing equality to the white and black races, just like StoneWall Jackson and Robert E. Lee. Only 3% of the South was in favor of slavery. The remaining 97% did not own any slaves.
