Black people stole the blues from whitey because they were playing guitar and singing with in misery before they knew what a guitar was. I bet whitey actually did the blues first because he did everything else first! Cars,Trains,Planes, and Freaken Spacecraft.Put that in your pipe and smoke it!!! PLAGIARISM
Omg. The guy in the German band called Jud's Gallery is actually not playing his solo but uses the solo notes from Garry's song....OMG....THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE because these guys never wrote the notes in such melody in 1972 (I have the demo session). This is freakin' ridiculous!!!!!!!!!
I disliked this video purely because those German scum are on it, Gary Moore was and always will be the best guitarist I've ever herd I was lucky enough to see him live and he really could get that guitar to cry. I don't believe he stole this song for 1 minuet, but if he did he took a shit song and make it into a masterpiece. R.I.P. Gary Moore (sorely missed)
@adrianoddr2 Yeah...but I bet any money they cannot play Yngwie's version. So they prolly decided to drop any charges against him because of that. LOL
Made they Empty Rooms too for Gary muahahaha german small band ,what Gary have never listened or anyone else even from west-germany ....why cuz they suck.
So a German band sues in a German court and wins the copyright to what is essentially the circle of fifths, something that's been around since at least JS Bach.
@TeslaAether Exactly. And there are notes which are not played in the same rotation and some notes which are not included AT all in Garry's version nor from Garry's version to Jud's Gallery's version. It is very messed up....and I believe because of this, the judge should not have agreed on any of this...because they both sound different....
Garry was maybe influenced by hearing the song...it is a MAYBE possibility....but he DID NOT COPY OR PLAYED THE SAME NOTES. IT IS 100% CLEAR TO MY EARS
Who cares. Gary Moore's song blows the other one to the sea of Japan. It's the best guitar I've ever heard...Nothing compares to it. ..The emotion that pours out of Gary in that song is like no other gutar player that I have ever heard live. R.I.P. Gary Moore
if you hear the original song has nothing to do with still got the blues. this german pricks make it more similar alive to remind gary's cover. anyways this band sucks. great gary moore song. he was really talented, a blues rock god. he never had the need to win money this way. he has lots of good album, has a great voice, and makes his guitar cry and sing. who the fuck are jud's gallery? oh yeah they wrote nordrcah and never released until the see the change to win money out of gary's pocket.
@dezman160 With all due respect, if you hear Still Got the Blues and the original song, the similarity is still there - the initial notes of the main riff just ARE almost identical, if not completely. Different speed, but it's there. Thast still doesn't mean Gary stole it. Great minds think alike, plus with the limited scale it's just bound to happen over and over again that two people come up with the same melody. Still Got the Blues still is and will remain a masterpiece. <3
That is disgusting. The original bears a resemblence to Still got the blues only in terms of the basic (very common) classical chord structure. The fact that these talentless idiots made so much money due to a court ruling by a judge with no knowledge of music resulted in one of the finest guitarists the world has ever seen being stripped of his dignity and having a suffering a great deal of pain. What I have just seen in that live version is an insult, the band should pay back all the money.
Garry play this part much better. For me is some similar but not identical. For me Garry was in the top five guitarists of the world...Now he play for God.
No disrespect, but I think if anyone should sue Gary Moore, it should be Lionel Richie. Yes I know that Gary Moore just died, which is why I prefaced with "No disrespect".
And no I'm not a Lionel Richie fan. I had just heard "Still Got The Blues" for the first time, and realized the melody was familiar. I remember "Hello" from when I was a kid.
@silenceontourne77 I did listen to the original, and that is why I said that it really had nothing to do with Gary's (RIP) Still Got the Blues! What they did was to change their original song after the court case and made a cheap version of Gary's Still Got the Blues, which had nothing to do with ORIGINAL version of their song! Shame to the German justice system for letting such obvious scum get through!
This chord progression is as old as Adam. The notes are somewhat similar but not the same, as is with the timing, if you listen to Jud Gallery's album it is even less similar. The authenticity of this video of JG is in doubt. All factors put together a serious court of law wouldn't have made such a judgment. The judge was definitely playing for the home side.
GM should be counter-suing these lunatics! Whereas GM's tune has about 4 similar notes (played totally differently) which amount to what happens all the time with only 8 notes to choose from, they've copied him blatantly! Rubbish like that shouldn't be allowed on any stage, the cheap idiots!
I heard the original 1974 "Nordrach" here on YT and its very different except for small parts that are similar. They reminded me slightly of Manuel Gottsching's Ashra. Gary Moore's song is in no way plagarised version. Whats being played here is in fact a plagarism of Gary Moore's "still got the Blues" without lyrics. The judges unjust ruling should be overturned.
I just listened to the 1974 version, Im speechless. That wanker has totally rear ended Gary. It is a totally different tempo different voicing and timing. NOW he is playing Garys version???? If there is a guitar code like there is a bro code, this idiot will burn in hell.
if ya wanna check out some plagiarism punch in 'led zep plagiarism'.Those guys were openly ripping stuff off. I do still love them though, before anyone tears into me haha.
Yes that doesn't look like Jud's Gallery in 1974 - much more recent, surely? The original 1974 Nordrach had the melody towards end of a quite different song, on keyboards. Looks to me as if Ju'd Gallery are now playing the Gary Moore version?
I'm pretty sure I've heard that melody or similar in loads of songs.
@danielworks Sorry if you got this personally. It was not posted against you or anybody else, except the German guitar player of this band, and the German judge who obviously delivered injustice. In fact your post clearly shows that. The original of the song is also available on youtube and there is more than obvious that it has nothing to do with Moore's Still got the blues, which is why, it took this German twat 18 years to realize that he can do this scum for his own interest.
This is the biggest scum I've seen regarding music!!! These German asshole band, used the case to 1)regain publicity 2)get some money from Gary 3)continue to play live in order to "legalize" the court's decision... what this guitar player is doing now is openly plagiarizing Moore's solo, instead of playing his own shit he played back in 1974!
They should shoot that fucked up judge for bringing injustice!
@punkaru note that i`m not saying nothing , if it is or not. i`ve just uploaded this songs to who haven`t listened yet both versions as i hadn`t listened before .
@punkaru Well said. Especially this: 3)continue to play live in order to "legalize" the court's decision... I wish to hear 1974 version played by german "stars"
I totally agree with you!!! Yeah still got the blues does use simular note and arrangements but now Juds Gallery have made their original sound even more like Gary Moore!
@punkaru so right. The original is nothing like Gary Moores. They've now changed it to copy Gary Moore. In fiarness the original was brutal, they needed to do something to it.
I'll be happy for him! But the point is: the ORIGINAL song, which should be posted here (!), has nothing to do with Still got the Blues, in recent performances by the German band of their song, it has been played to sound like Gary's Still got the blues, and NOT sound like its original version! This is why I, among others, seriously doubt the claim for plagiarism and the court's decision! The "plagiarism frenzy" in Germany in recent years, most probably contributed to that decision too!
@weelanj it feels bad...but also how would you feel, you are Mozart, someone steals Minuet in G from you and adds some parts to it, and then you (Mozart) decides to play the song with the part of someone who added some parts to it ? I thini the whole thing is fake....I think Mozart did not like his version from the beginning and decided to use that someone's version better....To me this does not sound like Plagiarism but Jealousy.
To be honest, I've just lost some respect for Germany if their courts are this fucked. It looks like their copyright laws stayed the Nazi era or something :-O
You can find the original "Nordrach" on youtube. Check it out for yourself, Still Got the Blues DOES NOT sound close enough to the original to be classified as Plagiarism!!
In fact if it's close to anything, it should be "Autumn Leaves" because they both use the EXACT SAME CHORDS in the verse/main riff..
Ha! Dude!! The Nordrach video shown here is a performance from 2009. The guitarist is playing it SO THAT IT SOUNDS like Still Got the Blues!! Lame. The original recorded in 1974 uses a different melody line on a lower octave.

@Erotomaniax I said 5.30 of Nordrach onwards. This video doesnt even have a 5:30. Im obviously talking about the original 1974 version, where if you actually listen to it from 5:30 onwards it sounds like gary moore.
Hey you. You leave me no recourse: “I don’t care, Gary’s version is still better!!!! Tsk tsk tsk!!” Hahaha =D But seriously, u actually said it: "It sounds like Gary Moore." I don't deny a resemblance obviously but they’re not EXACTLY the same.

Contrary to Germany, in Canada, USA and the U.K. for there to be plagiarism, it must be proven by the plagiarizee on a balance of probabilities that the plagiarizer had access to the plagiarized material.. HIGHLY UNLIKELY in this case.
...I mean just imagine Gary touring w/ Thin Lizzy in Germany sometime in the 70s, and after a show, he goes back to his hotel room, decides the mood is for some obscure buttfuck radio station that would play prog jazz like Jud’s (if there was one that would), and going "Aha!! 15 yrs from now, I’ll make this melody mine!
