I think that if Google wants to make an OS they should try and fashioned it around the android OS, simple, stable and do not require much hardware to work it.
but if it does less, and cost around the price range of a normal netbook, why would i want it? i mean how often does a person turn off and on his computer for the boot time/sleep recovery to matter? if it's for those ultra quick jobs like checking mail or using google map, i'd want a smart phone to complement my normal netbook, not another device i have to get out from my backpack.
This is a really good review- its one of the first ive seen that understand that its a niche product aimed at undercutting the netbook market. think about it, teens, low income, and very casual consumers will be able to have a laptop to meet their basic needs for relatively low cost. (and though its a 'netbook' the screen isnt tiny). This will not replace the world's computers... itll just help the push towards more friendly cloud computing.
@danwindham1 here's a simple question I've been thinking about: why would we take this instead of a tablet with a keyboard dock like Asus Transformer?
Just imagine if Google launch a special subsidize introductory price of $150.... I would by a bundle!!! After all, they will not be doing it to make billions out of the computers themselves, but out of the online business they, the computers so closely tied to Google, will bring them. Apple might dominate the high end market, but with super cheap chrmoeos computers, build by a miriad of manufactures, Google may conquer the lower, massive, segment of the market.
I honestly think they should've gone for more of a clean cut, low profile design like the macbook and macbook pro, but who knows, maybe one of them will be like that.
@iceon23 All of the applications will be downloaded from the Google Web Store, so they'll all be virus checked and approved by Google before released to the store.
@Smoxa The Cr-48 won't ever be on sale, it's just for testing purposes. I imagine most Chrome OS notebooks will be similar to Windows netbooks and laptops. Same goes for the price, I would think $200-400 is what you would be looking at.
I will be looking forward to this notebook coming out, I might pick one up myself when it launches,
its a great way to just switch on and start surfing the net, unlike some laptops you have to wait for them to boot up, and then open a browser. Chrome OS is a good idea!
OH NO!! I LOVE THE FUNCTION KEY! In my opinion, chrome OS needs a little more than just the browser. Maybe they should ad picture viewing, music playing ability, movie player, etc. Ya know what I mean? Thumbs up!
@wheely132 You actually can, if you view pictures it goes into a slideshow and there is a beta media player that lets you listen to music and watch video. No idea how it will look when they're done with Chrome OS though.
@duncan33303 Wow! I didn't know that! Well is there a possibility I could have chrome OS and windows on my laptop? When the full version of chrome OS comes out.
@ITouchTutorialsHD Not really. After using Chrome OS for a couple weeks I'd say it's still beta, there are still bugs and glitches to be found before it's ready for sale.
WTF i have an atom N450 Dual-Core not Single-Core and it's older! Chromebook, no sir!

Who will be making notebooks with Chrome OS then, companies like HP, Toshiba, etc?
Or will Google be making their own notebooks?
