But this is just too damn obvious, the concept of a thin computer just seems like something apple thought up NOT dell. Dissapointed. They said at CES that this would be high perfromance. Since when was anything below 2Ghz considered high performance. When buying a laptop don't just look at the design, look at the specs and you will see that this thing is WAY overpriced. Wait till 2010 to buy a laptop; USB 3.0, 32-nmCPU's, and possbily cheaper SSD's, and lower fixed prices. Plus I hate edge-to-edge glass. It's just like a plasma display, only much more reflective. Good luck trying to view this thing in the sun.

Ok. first off. I am a mac user and i tend to lean towards macs. but im not going to sit here and say each pc is junk. Dell has a great design with this laptop. I would even say this is more attractive than the mac air. However it does not have better hardware than macs. The air has a faster processor and his $200 cheaper. Personally i wouldn't buy either. I'm not going to spend a couple thousand on a laptop without an optical drive. With this i would wait til the new version of windows is out

As for the games bit from ipodwheels... well, not everyone plays games, but all the more reason I guess they shouldn't be dropping two grand on a laptop when a 300 dollar one will perform to the same standard. I personally gave up on PC gaming when DRM got injected into every major release of late, and stick to my consoles and handhelds most of the time.

Dell does have the ability to run UNIX. The ability to run Darwin, no less. Seeing how it's the same hardware, the only thing Dell DOESN'T initially run is... well... OS X. Not because it's technically unable to(in fact, with a bit of work, you can), but because Apple simply locks it out. But this is all a bit nit-picky. I'm not convinced the concept of "Slim laptop" is any more Apple's than the concept of the keyboard. They just got there first. Good for them.
