He wants to rejoin the force after his trial, which he thinks will result in an aquital of all charges. Purjury is a felony, he should be more concerned about going to jail; the video clearly shows he lied on an official court document. Any judge hearing this case is going to throw the book at him. You've ridden bicycles? If you think he was "leaning into the impact", then I question whether you know about riding. The rider was steering away from the PO & the PO sped up and raised his hands. It looked to me that the cyclist was lowering his head to keep from getting hit in the face. Also, he was starting to steer away from the curb, so as to not hit somebody standing there viewing. That was obvious assault by the officer. He made no signals for the bicyclist to STOP!

The police officer in question has given his version of events and there's nothing to suggest that.
He claims that the cyclist 'weaved in and out of traffic' and deliberately tried to ride straight at him, which we can clearly see isn't the case; the cop moves very purposefully to knock into the cyclist from the side.

You've ridden bicycles? If you think he was "leaning into the impact", then I question whether you know about riding. The rider was steering away from the PO & the PO sped up and raised his hands. It looked to me that the cyclist was lowering his head to keep from getting hit in the face. Also, he was starting to steer away from the curb, so as to not hit somebody standing there viewing. That was obvious assault by the officer. He made no signals for the bicyclist to STOP!

From 1998 until 2006 I was a bike messenger. So needless to say, I've had my fair share of run-ins with the police. Every single time I was in the wrong. But it rarely stopped me from being a jackass. Also, I've been on the fringe of these critical mass rides and my observations told me that it is a very antagonistic affair. You can say that the cop had a reason to stop the cyclist. I know of much safer ways to do that. He's a mentally weak, low self-esteem cop who beats people to prove his superiority. No matter what happens to him, this video is bringing MASS HATRED onto him by millions of people on the internet. The best thing he can do is admit to his wrong doing and apologize publicly. Whether or not the cyclist stays in jail, it's a separate case.

By the time the biker lowered his head and squared his shoulders, the cop was already too close, it seems to me as if the biker was just getting ready for impact, as opposed to attacking the officer. Also the cop was going too fast for the biker to be able to stop in time, if a command was given. I watched the video with an open mind, if you are already biased towards one side or the other you'll see the video from your point of view.

Good Job Officer. This video only shows one part of the story, the officer didnt just randomly hit that guy. As far as I know he was holding up traffic in Times Square.
