@Craskar there's truth in that statement I think the writers felt they got lucky with one song so we'll try it again with a few minor changes True That
@jodyswift11 Well, if you mean ones that feature a particular dance, there's The Bristol Stomp, Do The Continental, The Dog, The Twist, The Locomotion.... Here's a link that should help you get started - the60sofficialsite[DOT]com/Dance_Crazes_of_the_60s - just replace [DOT] with a period.
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean, whenever one door closes I hope one more opens. Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance, and when you get the choice to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance.

Some of my fondest memories are when we were dancing.
No, not a movie. It's a dancing based video game for the Nintendo Wii. It has around 30 songs (this being the oldest) all with specific dance moves you make in time with them. This one is particularly fun to dance to.
This song remids me of my boy TJ. He was one of the fastest sprinters in the state at age 16, I was honored to run a leg on his 440 yd race on his team He loved this song TJ was killed in Vietnam.
Motown sued Cameo-Parkway because the company thought this song was a little too similar to "Please Mr. Postman" by the Marvelettes. As a result, Jobete, Motown's publishing company, and the writers of "Postman" also make money off of this song.
While I like both songs, I actually would listen to Mashed Potato Time over Mr. Postman. Something about Dee Dee Sharp's voice :). I actually have the album pictured above when the song starts. It's great!!
Those were the days this was one of the first records I bought back then the record stores would have hundreds of releases available but by the late 60s the LP took over there were still record stores in black neigborthoods that had a lot of 45s but not like the heyday that ended in the mid 60s at least in my area in around the Bronx I believe Dee Dee went out with Muhamad Ali but couldn't take the black muslims sense of women being so prim and demure Anyway great song still love it
Me and Tony first started going to the Youth Center in Seaside to learn how to dance. This was one of the those first songs...what fun. It was all because of our mom who encouraged us to go. Thanks, Mom.

this sounds exactly like mr postman... :/
i'm kind of into 60s music at the moment, but one thing i find annoying is that a lot of the songs from the same artist sound very similar

Honestly, in terms of how old music like this sounded (focusing on the rhythm and tune), this is what I love, unlike music nowadays. :)
