i hope that this is the party that rises in the new political spotlight. this party has true american values. this party should come to "power". this party has it's flaws but all parties do and i would rather have barr elected than to have ralph nader elected. his presidential candidacy is a joke. even though i am a democrat, and 16 years old, i believe that having an only two party system, as i like to call it, with the democrats and republicans is no different than having a one party state.
Libertarians want to abolish Social Security and condemn millions of old & disabled people to fend for themselves in the streets or to grovel at some church for a little food. Is that the sort of America you want??
Bob Barr - The perfect idiot to represent one of the kookiest of political ideas.
State's rights and family is the best way to take care of our elderly as well as keeping economic conditions strong so that less elderly have to rely on services and government force and coercion! Libertarians do want to abolish the system that has stolen money from our elderly and created heavy debt burdens that will hurt future elderly. As the system continues to grow and allows farmers, illegals, and every other type of bs can pull from it Social Security will fail...history repeats itself!
I think the last time anyone whined for "state's rights" was when the Confederacy demanded to keep their slaves. Too bad that pinko socialist Abraham Lincoln had to meddle in someone else's affairs, huh?
The constitution can trump state's right when the state does not protect the rights and liberties of the individual. Slavery was a horrible system and we never had to go to war to end slavery. I am glad that the constitution finally upheld the fact that African-Americans were equals and trumped the states to protect individual liberty! Lincoln was not a socialist. People everyday defend state's rights for abortion, gun ownership laws,........ I am trying to end slavery today. Peace!
Actually most countries didn't go to war to end slavery! Most countries paid top dollar for the slaves and then released them! This is history!!! Why am I an idiot for knowing history?
In 1998, Barr gave the keynote speech at the national convention of the Council of Conservative Citizens; a hate group that routinely denigrated blacks as "genetically inferior," complained about "Jewish power brokers," called homosexuals "perverted sodomites," and accused immigrants of turning America into a "slimy brown mass of glop."
Hate to tell you guys but Bob Barr is just a douche. He isn't a real third party candidate because he is just a Republican. For a libertarian he is against civil liberties such as when he signed the protect marriage act and patriot act. Just an asshole and a hypocrite.
Bob Barr is a distraction, designed to split the revolution.
He voted for the war and the Patriot Act, is pro abortion, changed position on the drug war, and isn't for ending the income tax... among other things.
Why do you think he's getting so much positive press coverage? Don't be fooled!
Chuck Baldwin 2008! (Because he didn't have to CHANGE to get your vote.)
You want to vote for change, vote Libertarian or ANYTHING but Republicrats... Neither will work for change, only for their own interests... Start sending the message now to go back towards the constitution and not away from it... you are NOT voting for nothing if you vote this direction and that thought process is a defeatist attitude if you do that...
Voting for Third Party Candidates are NOT a waste of a vote. The 2 parties that run the universe can only be weakened by everyone who votes for third parties. Obama can't change crap because he does not want too. The main parties run on meaningless platforms that do nothing. Only when they feel politically threatened will we have real change.
As long as Libertarians continue to spilit hairs they will never be relevant in American life. The Democratic and Republican parties exist because they are alliances of indivuals with similar but not always exact views. This nation was built on compromise and until libertarians learn to compromise, they will be of little significant to the American experiance.
compromise? what are you asking us to compromise? liberty? freedom? principles? integrity? if you compromise ANY of that, you are compromising the very country you live in. WAKE UP.
who doesn't like freedom, liberty, and intergrity, Especially libertarians, but all three of these terms are subjective terms, and are defined from personal opinions.
freedom, liberty, and integrity are subjective? HA HA HA! Whaaaaaaat!!!!! Actually they are definitive terms. Please tell me you're not my neighbor. Man, I gotta watch my back.
Wow, I always wanted a president that looked like Mr. Whipple!
With that facial hair, I think he might have been more electable in the late 1800s--fitting perfectly on your teacher's "poster of the presidents" somewhere between Grant and Taft.
By the way, as an Oklahoma resident, I'm not a bit surprised that we were only one of two states that doesn't have the Libertarian candidate on the ballot. For years, it was hard enough just getting two parties here, let alone three!!
Not terribly enthused with Barr...too bad R Paul didn't run fr it. Nonetheless I will vote for one of the former. This nation is a shambles...broke and at risk of WMD attacks. What do expect from 75 years of socialism.
hey thanks AP for not mentioning what Mike Gravels platform and record was for the record and just painting him as some fringe candidate running as some kind of Liberal Guru. fucking propaganda at its finest. brainwashing the public one last time into not looking into the NATIONAL INITIATIVE!
let me try and explain this to you slowly so you can understand. There are two things called "time" and "money" both of these things are limited amount. Major media outlets can not cover every Joe, Dick and Harry who wants to be president. You see privately owned media outlets (like most privately owned buisnesses) make desicisions based on what will bring them the most money. Covering people who can't make it the semi final round in the Libertarian convention is a stupid buisness decision.
futher more the National Initative would fundalmental transform this country from a Republic to a Democracy.....aka mob rule. Not only does this run counter to the founding fathers vision of this country, it also runs counter to Ron Paul's vision of this country as well as other prominent libertarians.
i'm not voting, but i've been campaigning for bob barr. it would have been easier to campaign for ruwart, but i'm stuck with bob barr. i'll jump ship if he doesn't get his positions cleared up on his web site.
i am very happy with bob barr. we need to get enough votes to keep mccain from being elected president and send a strong message to the republican party . the RP must start being more conservative like ron paul states.
Those that don't like Obama or McCain would do well to vote Lib. The Lib. candidate has a better chance of beating the other party candidates. McCain is another Bush, Obama is going to grant amnesty, extend welfare and raise taxes.
how could you say mccain is another bush, when barr voted just like bush? the fool voted for the patriot act, the iraq war, and even tried to push a constitutional ban on gay marriage. how in the world did he end up being the nominee of the so-called party for constitutional principles? the lp is desperate i see.
Voting for a NAZI like Barr is not a solution, not even libertarians like him. If we cant have Gravel, vote for Nader, he believes in true liberty. Not a NAZI like Barr who has voted to take it away and send solidiers to their deaths.
bob barr is a phony. i can't believe the lp party chose this fool. just look at his voting record. did he even repent for voting for the war? my gawd. i can't believe this shit.
Barr bought off delegates, the majority of libertarians didnt want Barr as their representative. Plus he never attended any of the conventions before Denver. Plus Christine Smith LP candidate blasted him at the Denver Convention for his record.
people that want the right to vote and are sick of living under a corporate dictatorship. You're just blind that's all.. there's more of us then there are of you and more and more waking up everyday. this election is meaningless. the National Initiative is a Perpetuating Struggle in finalizing the fight for independence! I'm just sorry you won't be joining us.
Go Bob Barr, I used to vote Libertarian, now I do not vote at all.. The Corporate media and the sheep have made voting such a shame. There is no hope for America. nor is there a democratic process.
How many times do people tell me "I do not want to vote for the looser, so I would never want to waste my vote on a 3rd party"
Get off your ass and vote. Your problem is not the sheeple but the fact tht most just vote like they watch sports.
King Soloman said that with much knowledge comes pain. Just vote and shake it off once the results are in. It's already a given that it'll be Obama in 08, but vote anyway.
Don't get me wrong. Would love to see a real Revolution... but theres not going to be. I have not voted for a mainstream canidate since the 90's when the Repubs did not do hardly anything they siad they would do if they got in power. I voted Libetarian until 2000, If the two idiots like Bush and Gore could not inspire a 3d party showing then nothing is going to stop people from voting with the corporate media.
Conclution, there is no way to vote this country back to the people.
so if ron paul gets punked outta the primaries by fox news again.........
