hi viperkeeper i know nothing about keeping or handling poisonous snakes, but when i see you struggle with that hook i think there must surely be a better way..
wouldnt a litter picker be better? where you can hook the snake like normal but then squeeze a handle to change the hook into a hoop. so the snake cant go back on itself so long as youve got its tail.
@AndyMcNabStab They exsist already, just the snakes really panic because they see it a 'mouth' biting them on the back or tail. Hooks have been used forever, I'll stick with them thanks.
Great video Mr. Coritz - as usual! Thanks for uploading. I've got a question, that might be off topic, but: I like that T-Shirt! Where did you buy it?
Just an observation from a paranoid viewer. When you squatted down while putting the male in his cage, it seemed to put you in one hell of a vulnerable position. Seems if he would have tried to make an escape he would have been headed your way and unless you have reflexes like a cat, that could have been exciting. But that's the paranoid in me.
@TheTemest I have the refexes of a viper....not bad for an old fart. Besides, most people watch because it can go from bordom to heart stopping action in a few nanoseconds.
Great footage Al. I love the fact that you're so careful with wood 'furniture'. Only a truly caring viperkeeper would go to such lengths to keep his critters healthy :-)
VK, great footage! I think the new cinematography is going to work out well, especially for hands free video like this one. Always nice to see the Taipan too. I suspect that your efforts in general to keep everybody's stress level as low as possible contributes to the beasties not "going into hyperspace" as you would say, as easily when you have to move them. But man... those Mambas are so quick even when they are moving at a leisurely pace... whew! Thanks, and regards to Mr.Collett's.
True, the same thing happens to me with my snakes (Corallus Hortulanus) when i must replace in a another terrarium, they are more aggressive with me, before and later! However later they adapt.
hi keeper, pls keep good health and do more exercise, i would like to watch ur vid all the time till i'm old.
