  • Taken from "Sesame Street" Season 2 (November 9, 1970-May 27, 1971).

  • Well, what did you guys expect? This was a new station...a new PUBLIC station. They couldn't really afford a big, expensive campaign. PBS in the early 70's was about as grassroots as can be.

  • they could've at least written "Public Broadcasting Service" in a non-standard font/typeface instead of just plain font

  • Heck, I know of SS reruns today!

  • johnsesame28: You mean there actually used to be such a thing as Sesame Street reruns? You're kidding. I thought they had never done that, ever. (Not counting the Noggin run, and PBS Sprout stuff of recent years). PBS in the 70s actually reran earlier seasons?

  • that was a still picture that you used, because it was to jumpy

  • Um, he didn't actually use a still picture. That was how the logo was originally created.

  • but this is the only one on you tube thats not jumpy

  • The voice is MacDonald Carey, who was the voice for the opening of "Days of Our Lives"

  • @RayNDeere MacDonald Carey played Dr. Tom Horton from the First Episode in 1965 until his Death in 1994.

  • This Stinks; The logo from 71-85 is the best

  • I wonder why the recording was so bad on this one.

1 could assume it was the technology of that time but the annoucer for THE NET spot sounded better.

  • Sounds like a drumroll in the background.

  • that's static.

  • Nice voiceover by Macdonald Carey.

  • Dear Closing Logo Fans

I Seen It On TV When I Was Little During 1970-71 And Please E-Mail Me Tonight

    Dellie Goose

  • They don't show this anymore!

  • Tell me about it; this logo got plastered by the 1971 logo later on, including the episodes of Sesame Street old school DVD set.
