.22 cal. rim fire should not be dry fired. Modern center fire weapons can be dry fired. It is not a long I, it is pronounced just like the business. bizzzzzley not buysley. Very nice six shooter. I would look to Buffalo Bore for hot 45 Long Colt ammo.
I have one and they are very nice. I purchased some custom grips from a man in Colorado made from elk horn, and the pistol is beautiful. The grips even has the Ruger Medallions on them and the gun gets compliments everywhere. this guy makes grips to your order with alot of "bark" or less. He also makes some grips from moose and elk bone that looks just like ivory and wears similar too.
thank you for showing us of your fine specimen there. now since you mention that you can fire 45 colts with the power of the 44 magnum, can you shoot those all the time? or is it unsafe? I'm just wondering because I'm interested in the ruger blackhawk 45 colt in 7.5 inch barrel and plan to do some hunting deer and wild hogs
@Opi07 The blackhawk .45 colt is built on the same frame as the blackhawk .44 magnum. If the .44 magnum version can withstand .44 magnum rounds all the time, so can the .45 colt version. I think you'd be fine to get some .45 Colt hunting loads from Corbon or DoubleTap. If you have any concerns, call Ruger and ask. The gun will likely outlast you.
@KarlEastwood64 I still don't understand why the citizens who lawfully owned handguns and other firearms actually lined up to turn them in. Such widespread confiscation orders here in the US would start a revolution.
I've been amazed reading the ideas of police and, civil leaders in many Western countries when it comes to citizens defending themselves. They are looked on with suspicion and, almost as bad as the actual criminal. It's like they view the law abiding citizen as a threat to public order. Apparently, violent crime is like bad weather and, a citizen using deadly force is just adding to the problem.
@MrPotatoesLatkie IMO, it's more evil than even that. A disarmed citizenry is unable to defend themselves from tyranny. I don't think most of the lower level (aka, regular) gun grabbers think of it that way though. They've been raised on the "guns are bad" mantra and it hasn't even occurred to them to think differently. That's how those at the top pursuing these policies want it.
@exodipus Why we should be punished for what criminals do i don't know... here in Idaho there are few laws against what guns you can or cannot own. I guess i just don't understand how the government thinks that if they take guns away, that criminals wont use them... I mean seriously if a person wants a gun for a crime it doesn't matter if its legal to own or not, they will still use it. The only difference is that I can shoot back. Weapon of choice: Standard issue Glock 21 with trijicon sights
@brody0063 Yep, exactly. Making something illegal doesn't keep criminals from doing it. They can issue all the edicts they want, but nothing will change that.
@KarlEastwood64 Yeah, I got the pronunciation thing. I had a British teacher in highschool who used to say that Americans put the syll-AB-les in the wrong order. I still prefer my aluminum cans over al-U-min-ium though ;)
wow.... she is beautiful.....truly a gorgeous gun, I just bought a 6.5 inch New Model Blackhawk yesterday:) should be here in just under a couple weeks...waiting is always the worst part.
Also want a New Vaquero one day, but can't decide whether to go for the authentic 45 Long Colt or stick to the .357 which I reload for..... hard bloody decision Or what barrel length to get... AAHHHHHHHH I almost wish I didn't have a choice, would be a hell of a lot easier on me :)
@ChromeArty Thank you. I think you'll enjoy your new gun. I have the same consideration with reloading now. I bought this in .45 LC but since then I've bought a .44 Magnum, and I am reloading for that. Makes me wonder if I should have gotten mine in .44 instead ;)
@ChromeArty dont get the vaquero. Its a smaller frame gun than the blackhawk/bisley..thus not as strong. In addition, Im a bit of a traditionalist...stay with 45 Long Colt..unless ammo prices are a problem.
I am also a traditionalist... so I want a New Vaquero due to it is the same externally as a Colt SSA, unlike a Blackhawk which style, I don't believe, was around in the wild west. I'm referring to it's flat top design.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Blackhawk...hence buying one :)
@ChromeArty you should see what I had made. You would fall in love with it. I hada 4 5/8" stainless black hawk converted to a bisley, had an action job done on it, bead blasted the finish, and put a gold dotted partridge sight on the front. Polished the trihher and hammer, and had the center pin changed for accurizing. It is so spectacular I look at it more than my wife!! (just kidding)
I have been staring at the pic of the revolver to come quite a lot... if my wife knew that all the time I was spending on the computer was spent looking at one picture...well she'd probably just laugh at me...
I really would love to see it!! If I PM'd you my email address would you send me a pic or two, she sounds absolutely beautiful. Maybe cover up your serial number with a piece of tape to ease your mind...?
2:09 dont do that fuck!!!!! its like every video i see with i gun in it people need to cock it and dry fire.. do you not understand how bad that is for the gun!!!!!! you think you would care seeing as u paid for the fucking thing.... horrible
@originalbrodyg420 From the Ruger instruction manual: "The Ruger New Model revolvers can be dry-fired without damage to the firing pin or other components"
@exodipus only rim-fire guns shouldnt be dryfired, and only then if the saftety is off. so in the gun world only few guns shouldnt be dryfired and only those when off safety
@quicklady There are still rimfire guns that can't be dry fired at all, I think the Buckmark is one of them. Always check the manual. Centerfire of course isn't generally an issue.
@originalbrodyg420 dry firing it won't hurt it at all. only reason to not do it is you run the risk of a negligent discharge if you're not careful about unloading it. the only guns you could really mess up by dry firing are rimfire guns, and older antiques
@originalbrodyg420 actually the dry firing is not bad for pretty much any modern handgun with a frame mounted firing pin assembly. This info comes directly from the manufacturer and includes semi-automatic pistols. Rimfires are another matter altogether as the firing pin will impact on the rear of the chamber.
@JDGWRedneck Everyone just needs to read their manual, Rugers SR series of semi-autos are safe to dry fire, but only with a magazine in, as per the manual.
@TheBassGuitarist1 that was a nice comment till the retard thing. i think u have personal issues you need to work out man... by the way im blocking you from messaging me back on this so dont even try
The guy who sent the pm 5 days ago is right. The Bisley is named after a gun that I believe was produced by Colt I think in the late 1800's and it was named after the shooting range. That revolver had very similar attributes to the present Ruger Bisley including a grip frame shaped for accuracy, a better trigger, and hammer. I found a very simple way to improve the trigger pull and thereby the accuracy. Do a web search for "Poor Boy's Trigger Job". It is easy to follow . Good luck.
@exodipus Ive always heard it pronounced "biz-lee"--but who care--its more comfy for sure! I had a blackhawk in .45 Colt but sold it before I had a chance to reload/load my own (grips were too small for my hands) . The Bisley's I have held fit perfectly! The load data I have seen show you can really milk alot out of the .45 colt and it has less recoil than a .44 RemMag--great rd! I fired the mild loads out of my Blackhawk but next time around, watch out!
@cdamauser1963 Yeah I plan on making some hot loads whenever I buy some .45 Colt dies. In the meantime I'll just be plinking with some cowboy action loads.
