  • whoever hit dislike is a tard

  • Ahhhh, finally found the perfect way not to get out of breath (and a red head) when Irish dancing, smile

  • One swallow does not a summer make. Welsh look you. Is there another Anglo out there?

  • I don't like the wigs and the caked make-up, damnit. It's overly sexualizing young girls and it's wrong!!!

  • good job mate..awesome

  • finally, a male irish dancer!! good job lad!

  • Less of the Lad please..

  • awesome!!

  • wooow she is so elegant :D Her kicks are divine

  • Hi, how is it that you never[At least I hav'nt] hear of any English Americans?

  • Comment removed

    david

  • For some reason the guys don't do slip jigs, lucky I guess.

  • its because slip jigs are supposed to be graceful or thats what my dance teacher told me. she also said guys are starting to do them now in competition

  • Actually, one of the boys from my school came third in the beginner slip jig!:)

  • l love IRISH culture and IRISH people...

    best wishes from OSSETIA...

  • i got to a gree why is there a hard jig done by a guy to the same rythem of a slip but i do like the slip none the less

  • only one boy! :o

  • lucky guy XD!!!

  • I love this music!

  • Great vid thanks for posting

  • i dont care about dance but i LOVE the music

  • And thus their legs turned to mush.. LOL :3

(I'm not a hater I'm Irish too, and I want to learn how to dance like that..) :)

  • These are just real people with real life dancing and not profesionals probally in there first year of river dance. It takes a long time to master this style of dancing.

  • UUGGHHH! I HATE THE SLIP JIG!

  • i cant stop watchin this

  • you don't know how refreshing it is to see champion irish dancers who know what they're doing as oppose to the countless other irish dance videos i've seen on youtube of beginner amateurs. and wow this is a slip jig!! and there is hard shoe dancing!! (and even with a boy!!) a slip jig is usually a soft shoe dance only danced by girls. great job guys!

  • wow sweet

  • dude, ur supposed to keep ur arms tight by ur sides unless ur doing like a group choreography like we sometimes do.

  • did u know your not supose to have your arms tight bside u!

they only do that now bcouse they had to do that years ago wen they werent alloud move there arms at all in a catolic school

me and other irish people (ROCK!)

  • Really? I was told (by the father of an Irish dancer at a show I went to) that they dance with their arms down in honor of the Irish who lived under British rule. The Brits forbade the Irish to partake in their traditional dance, music, etc. Sometimes the Brits would tell the Irish to dance and would throw things at them, and made them keep their arms down so they couldn't defend themselves or block the things thrown at them. Don't know if that's really true, but that's how I heard it.

  • they wern't allowed to move their arms?? wow thts stupid:P

and ya irish people do rock!!!!!

  • what song is that plz reply cause its so awesome

  • Sorry I don't know, personally, but I believe if you scroll down about 5 posts, someone said what it was.

  • gotta love that vest!

  • WOW! Beautiful! I love it!

  • I know that the music is Eileen Ivers, but what song

  • Die künstlerische Darbietung ist einmalig, großartig, wundervoll, was auch immer. Die Tonqualität dieses youtubes läßt allerdings zu wünschen übrig.

  • I LOVE i think iuuryhf yfduri hvnnjjeu hikgiosyfyiuengifnu ojyfund

  • the youngest girl is Ann Marie and she goes to claddagh!

  • Lol aka you

  • nono its not!

  • i like irish dancing and the americans arnt that bad and i'm canadian

  • I worked for a canadian consulate for seven years and i love canada. i speak french, and yes, i hate americans. every latinamerican has a reason to hate them.

  • what's your reason to hate them?

  • read about the mexican history, watch the news, surf the internet. But worry not, this is like irish not liking british.

  • who is the girl who danced 1st? she is amazing

  • Sorry to say that I don't know any of the performers, although someone much earlier in this thread does.

  • the first dance isnt hard she just makes it look like that shes pretty much doing the basic steps (i take irish its super fun)

  • I know all their names. The first girl's name is Ann Marie. And she is an amazing dancer!

  • de dans is het beste.

  • I am irish and love of chorse irish music but ! i h8 it when americans say tht they are irish decent!!!!! GET UR OWN CULTURE AMERICA!!!!!!!! unless ur parents are irish then u are irish and all my family lives in ireland but if u av this idea tht one of ur great great grandparents or ancestors r irish but u live in american YOU ARE NOT IRISH !!!! dnt go tellin people u cud be irish!! bah humbug!

  • See this is where are wrong. Yes if you live in American you are American, but that is not your decent. Even if someones most distant relative had Irish in them that - does make that person of Irish decent.

As for get your own culture American is full of them, we all are from different backgrounds and practice those traditions and lifestyles that we come from.

Also I must applaud you on your grammar, thats one way to make the Irish proud.

  • you talking about megan cunnings grammer? lol yours is just as awfull. you've missed out words and all sorts of shit hahahahhahaha

  • myownlife 1 has a really good point. I'm Canadian, but Canada's been called a cultural mosaic and it's true. We're known for being very open to other cultures and we embrace our heritage, no matter how old it is. I agree America is a bit of a melting pot when it comes to other cultures, but it doesn't stop the citizens from acknowleging their heritage. If someone has Irish blood, then that makes them part Irish. As for me, I'm part German and Scandinavian.

  • my mums irish, my dadsnt, what does that make me? half of my family live in ireland and im constantly over there.....

    bah humbug! im confused

  • I believe the irish jig is a genetic marker, lol. Sometimes you can't stop doing the jig.

  • I love Irish music

  • Good as it is it's interesting to note the clinging to and the maintenance of a distant culture for identity and heritage. I think is because America and Americans in general, as a nation, can't claim to have a true `one` history of thier own. They have many identities. When asked, they usually say I'm Irish American, Italian American, etc, etc. Also interseting is the Irish Dance influence. Take a look at American clogging.

  • Shit Irish is just so cool... please listend, comment and rate me and my friend playing some irish >>> /watch?v=2bpx16dbesk

  • i dont get it. y do irish dancer keep there hands by there side the hole time??

  • because theyre Irish and being Irish is the coolest

  • its just the style, if you want full details, do some research on the history of irish dance

  • Its just the way it's always been done. There's another type of Irish dance though, another version. Its called 'Sean-Nós' dancing and you're hands arent by your side, its a lot more freestyle if you know what I mean? It's never done in groups either, just the one dancer.

  • whats the name of this song?

  • well it's a medley of TUNES, the first one being "A Fig For a Kiss," not sure of the other ones

  • usually I listen to Metal, but I like this music too

  • thats the exactily same with me... i love metal and this sort of music.. i think the closest its a couple of nightwish tracks which is a blend of these 2... try over the hills and far away , u will probable like that track,

  • Last of the Wilds, Nightwish

  • absolutely STUNNING

  • man i would love to learn to dance like them but sadly no one in Oregon knows where i can get lessons in my area URG.... if any of you know somewhere in Oregon for Irish step dancing let me know.

  • You should go to the Highland Games Festival at Mount Hood Community college, it's every year, about the 2nd weekend in July. It's Awesome! They have the diffent games, like log toss, etc. But they also have music and dancing competitions. You could probably find out more about where to learn step dancing there, there would prob. be lots of people who would be willing to help you.

  • I Recently learned that i'm naturally gifted at gigging, must be because i have some Irish Blood. Go Irleand!!!

  • gigging? Isn't that what you do when you spear a frog? I think you mean maybe...jigging

  • ohhh god...sat is amazin

  • MARAVILLOSO WN!!!! es una de las danzas mas hermosas y graciles q e visto!!

  • AWESOME

  • excellent

  • are these dacers claddagh???

  • Beautiful!

  • To see such fine dancing, you really have to wonder about what must have happened to Vienna, over the years. You would think that they would have got the idea and held on. But it turns out that only Ireland knew...

  • there well gd

  • I believe those are Claddagh dancers from CA

  • the younger girl is a great dancer! What school do they all go?

  • They call it SLING, it´s the Hardshoe Dance for a Slip Jig ;-)

  • the small one is in my sons class

  • wow these dancers are amazing, especially the younger girl. Is the blonde doing soft shoe MD? I cant tell.

  • To be completely honest, I don't have the slightest idea what kind of dancing this is. My wife was in the chorus, so I was taping, and I thought that some Irish folks (or afficionados of the music/dance) would appreciate seeing this posted. I do know that, throughout the performance, sometimes they performed with hard shoes on and sometimes they didn't. I only wish I recorded some more, as there were several other very impressive dances.

  • The man's dance seems partly copied from one the Hungarian male dances of Transylvania.Irish groups used to go there and get inspiration and folk tunes as well...

  • Fascinating. My ancestors are from Transylvania. I knew there was a reason why I liked this dancing. However, since the Irish have their pride, let's keep this on the low-down. We wouldn't want to have any fights break out...

  • Does that make you part Vampire?

    Boo! Bleh!

Sorry, couldn't resist. Nice peice ^^

  • Yes it does. In fact, when I was in high school, I even played Dracula in a school play.

  • yah she is

  • That was cool to see hardshoe done to slip jig music!
