Killer video! I've heard Schenker do "Boogie For George" and"C'mon Everybody" but "Prince Kajuku"? Awesome! Mick was cool(as was Larry Wallis) but Michael Schenker was the man. I'd love to hear him lay out "Follow You Home" or "Galactic Love".
Maybe, this song does not perfectly suit MS style, however, he nevertheless is an exceptional guitar player. On this video he is barely 18 years old and he became even better in the following years.
@potupchik you weren't even born when this was happening, this guitar player here is the guitarist that put UFO in the History of Rock!! a lot more than what Mick Bolton did for UFO but he was good ,I won't put him down!

@elgrande1987 exactly but just ask anyone who UFO is and the name michael shanker is gonna come tho their mind if you don't like shenker you don't have to say his overrated dushbag
@potupchik "Michael" Bolton? Didn't he sing "How Am I Supposed To Live Without You" . . . ? LOL
Don't diss Herr Schenker; it ruins Mick Bolton's legacy. You really wanna hear wah-wah out of this song, just put your hands over your ears and open and close them over your ears at the points in the song where you wanna hear the wah ;-) As for this version, it's quite energetic, and shows that Schenker was just fine with the old material; maybe he didn't even need to rehearse for too long :-)
I hung around the UFO of 2009 and earlier USA fan meets, if there are good looking girls there as well falling all over the band, forget about getting a word with them! They ere pretty out of it it seemed too, it's overwhelming in a way. I got to meet my idols on more then one occasion which is special enough for me! My picture taken with Mogg thanks to another fan with a camera! He emailed the digipic to me.. Pete Way says Zeppelin is probably UFO's biggest influencing factor!
Man AXEFLYERFV, Where do you get this stuff. Were you part of chrysalis or somehow affiliated with UFO. Amazing considering Michael Schenker was barely
entering the band at this show. He kicks ass on Kajuku. I like him better than Mick
@MrSmokeydog Smokeydog man,I wish I was connected to them,I would have found my way to the volts where they must have my long time treasure hunt:
the complete footage of STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT & God knows what else is there collecting dust,is such a shame ,I am sure it exists somewhere! but I keep searching !!
@AXEFLYERFV What details on where you found this? I'd like any 70s stuff I never saw growing up, I got aware in the very early 1980s, but Schenker had formed MSG and UFO about called it a day, I was really saddened
Note: what appears to be Francis Rossi of Status Quo in the red shirt at the very beginning of the video clip back stage. it wouldn't surprise me if Status Quo got UFO as the opening band for this gig. Excellent footage - thought they dropped this after Mick Bolton's departure
Love to see this, I broke out the Decca Years CD I bought, that's pretty dated now, but has all the old stuff on it, even though I bought three of those LPs and one tape collection, that had the live Japanese version with it's mellow interlude, my personal favorite. This really was great! NO DOUBT! Zeppelin influenced them heavily, says Mr. Pete Way (Wishing him the best!)
The man in the background in the beginning of this vid seems to be michael schenker's brother rudolph (i'm totally sure) whic was sniggering, proud for his young brother. I 'm quit sure this clip taken from a 1973 tour with Scorpions as support band. I wonder if is possible in 2010 none scorpions live video about this 'era on the net!?!...c'mon guys someone take out all the video stuff, please...:-)
@kevinneslund the guy that you say it isn't at 00:1 red tshirt !
If you look at the This is my song video or the promo video of Sails of Charon wich were recorded abot 3 years later from this video he looks like him here!!
I didn't want to come off as rude or kinda offensive or anything like that. I just wanted to throw in a little levity and humor. speaking of Rudy, as you may know, he kinda has an elfin, pixieish look, when he was younger especially, and, you'll notice, this guy in the vid looks more like Bill Murray when he had a moustache, or, heck, even like President Grover Cleveland for that matter. The facial resemblance of the guy in the vid to Rudy is simply not there. It's just definitely not Rudy.
@kevinneslund It's cool man,I think if we all agree on everything it would be kind of boring, you weren't rude at all.I did find it kind of funny you mentioning those names but it was an example,I got it,no problem, thnx for watching,I know you keep track of my posts & I appreciated!
Solid bro. That video which has what is believed to be Klaus Meine in it, now, that one is certainly possible. although we can't really say with any real certainty, it sure could be him, since, his appearance (a beard) at the time is similar to the guy in the vid. BTW; I should mention I really appreciate and enjoy this video. I'm a former musician (guitar player) and I actually enjoy this tune just as much now as I did when I first heard it, if not more. Michael really energized this song.
@kevinneslund Mick Bolton is more UNDERATED then anyone, so I still hear how he plays the songs and appreciate it. He is a simple but highly effective guitarist who also has a Wah Wah approach like Michael, though more in use
@OjosDeHuever Bolton? I'd say he fit for the era and time, and he was not a bad fit for UFO in their style. Schenker is rough around the edges starting as well, but his sound became MONSTER in the late 70s, 80s and now
Calm down, I was just joking. I saw the band w/ MS in '77 and '95. Have pix of myself getting the Walk on Water tour poster signed by the band in a nightclub after the show so blindness would be my only excuse for not knowing the difference between guitarists. Didn't mean to get you all riled up---but its a Mick Bolton song they're playing here.
Classic track.Used to play a version of this many moons ago in my early days. Great band and still appreciated which is what counts.Though greatly underestimated at the time. Thanks for posting
Thanx 4 the upload!!I'm a huge ufo fan from way back and even I didn't know there roots went THIS far back!!The should have been WAY BIGGER imo.I'm also and old school guitar player, and what sucks is Schenker was my main influence, and most ppl id tell never even HEARD of him!!
I have to thank Axeflyer for providing me with so much pleasure seeing my fav bands of all time play vintage material. For years back in the 70's 80s here in Canada little was known about UFO and Scorpions. The mags talkes about all the commercial bands. I had to dig to learn about these guys. And now the Internet and Youtube are providing me with a chance to see them play. Thanks again
There's no footage of Bolton man,the only videos so far that I've seen is the one I posted & the other that somebody else posted & you have them on your favorites,I don't even know if he's still playing or if still alive!
I think Mick Bolton is still alive.. maybe it was on Andy Parker's website, he did an interview within the last few years and said he recently spoke with Bolton and they've remained friends all along.
I'm not a guitar player...but I feel like if I did play guitar...I would own a Flying V...great tone!!!..and looks so badass....plus some of my favorite guitar players play/played them...M. Schenker, Alan Collins and Ray Davies...they just look so awesome!!!
Awesome video!! UFO probably in the top 3 bands of the 70s. People talk only about Black Sab, Led Zep and Depp Purple but there too earlier 70s bands like UFO, Scorpions, Uriah Heep etc.. all of them main influences to 80s bands etc
Brilliant - saw them in 74 with Schenker and Chapman. This song had gone from the set by then but they did great versions of Cold turkey and Built for comfort. They were both recorded for a BBC live concert but never heard them since - the Phenomenom version of Built for comfort was very different to the live version and nowhere near as good.
great sog , but actually this song belong bolton , i don want i do compare but schenker play other style , great too , but this song belong first u. f. o
Axe. If I'm not mistaken. Didn't Thin Lizzy play at this gig as well?

Wow...Mick Bolton looks just like Michael Schenker. What a resemblence. Gotta hand it to those Manchester-bred shape shifters....

Calm down, I was just joking. I saw the band w/ MS in '77 and '95. Have pix of myself getting the Walk on Water tour poster signed by the band in a nightclub after the show so blindness would be my only excuse for not knowing the difference between guitarists. Didn't mean to get you all riled up---but its a Mick Bolton song they're playing here.

didn't mean to sound that way,I guess my reply was a bit too hyper, sorry about that!

AXEFLYERFV 2 years ago
I think Mick Bolton is still alive.. maybe it was on Andy Parker's website, he did an interview within the last few years and said he recently spoke with Bolton and they've remained friends all along.

I found Mick's MySpace page. He is alive and well.

Awesome video!! UFO probably in the top 3 bands of the 70s. People talk only about Black Sab, Led Zep and Depp Purple but there too earlier 70s bands like UFO, Scorpions, Uriah Heep etc.. all of them main influences to 80s bands etc
VILASpeople 2 years ago 4
Dont forget Thin Lizzy for 80s metal influence.Budgie also.
