I'd start all thrusters on half the liftoff and gradually increase thrust in each according to accelerometer and gyro outputs. It'll cost more fuel but it can be a stable liftoff. Also, I'm sure everyone knows that but FFT the gyro and accel input is needed to achieve smooth stability and hover flight.
Looks like the breakaway stand isn't one piece so when one leg falls three other sides are supported and the vehicle tips causing it to become unstable.
@ucw458 Seems like you are right. Maybe this is causing a movement too big for the craft to balance. They need to try a more stable launching pad first and if it fails again, try a different approach in stabilization. Maybe reconfigure some gyros, or add some more, or change the software/hardware....nice try though people, dont give up. Keep in mind that nations spent billions on making these, so if you can do it with much less you are awesome. My opinion: it CAN be done!!!!
