Anyways, i wanted to say you telegraphed it by gripping with your hands on the mat right in-front of his eyes. Also the choke should be applied with the front of your left hand facing up. Like a watch. TIME TO CHOKE ;p
Also extend your left leg to choke. You can just use your right to hold him.
My favourite part of the choke is when you can guide his head into the sweet spot ;p
