i m not a huge rupp fan but it's impressive when runners win races with one shoe but even more impressive if they take the time to put it back on and still win,...props
he's so over coached though, he had to ask salazar if he should stop and put his shoe back on...good runner, just needs to think for himself and not wait for instructions
why would he stop to put his shoe back on? if your shoe comes off you run WITHOUT YOUR SHOE, ive seen countless people lose there shoes and there races because they bothered to put it back on. you go faster barefoot anyways
i remember watching this. it seems that entire field was against Oregon. the dude from Liberty and the other guy tried to push the pace to take Rupp away from the other Oregon runners. without that slower pace, Oregon scored less.
but geez..go Rupp! i loved watching Galen fight back and win handedly.
Great video... you are the only one who has this. I saw it in a burger joint when it was broadcasted live. DO YOU HAVE A GOOD COPY OF IT???? REALLY... PLEASE RESPOND
Galen's last 1600 was run in 4:00.08, his last 800 in 1:54. With his shoe coming off and all, it kinda reminds one of the great Viren-Pre battle in the '72 Olympic 5k!
It's too bad German Fernandez has decided to take the rest of the summer off to focus on cross country for next fall. I'd like to have seen a two mile duel between Fernandez and Rupp while they're both still collegians. Sub 8:00 would have been realistically possible.
Nice, pixilated footage within a pixilated video. People never cease to amaze me.

@ap1234512 What if one shoe falls off but the other is on? Sounds like a good way to get injured.

I don't know about sub-8. Only one man has gone sub-8, and that's Daniel Komen. I think sub-8:10 would be realistic though for Rupp.
