  • That dino's doin sum cocaine

  • Comment removed

  • Remember when this look great now you can pick out the flaws mainly when polygons clash which mainly happens on the legs

  • Epic

  • sega saturn >>>>>>>>>>>>> fagstation

  • @ravebritt no

  • @trollope4lyf2k8 yeaaaa.better colors, games, style

  • @ravebritt no

  • @trollope4lyf2k8 definitely yes. a million percent bro

  • @ravebritt no

  • @trollope4lyf2k8 yes, sorry

  • @trollope4lyf2k8 "no" means "yes"

  • @ravebritt *shakes head in disapproval*

  • @trollope4lyf2k8 *gives copy of nights into dreams*

  • @ravebritt "fuck is this"

  • @trollope4lyf2k8 proof of my argument

  • @ravebritt hell no it didn't have the games so it fails, same with dreamcast, what was SEGA thinking? They made Genesis and decided to F it all up after that lol

  • @MrROTD sega had the best fucking games ever: jet grind radio, crazy taxi, nights into the dreams, house of the dead, panzer dragoon, shenmue, virtua fighter to name a few. they kicked ass, so much better than tekken, gran turismo and final fantasy. Sales don't equate to quality, asshole.

  • @ravebritt

i have to say, that i had a saturn first..and i WAS a huge sega fan!

but when later the ps1 came out an d i saw the grpahics and the games....i got owned. the ps1 was way better!

sega fucked there fan up with the 32x and some shit...they where great in some cases, but also assholes when i look back now....in the arcades there where the best back in the days! virtua fighter, daytona, house of the dead...

  • were the dino crisis dinos this awesome looking?

  • Looks better than any game actually made on the system. Thats how good this demo is.

  • this takes me back........

  • I am stoned out of my mind watching this o:

  • my father scared the crap out of me with this. i was like 7 age or something and the manta was also scary at that time for me^^

  • Pretty good animation.

  • This takes me back. Got this on demo 1 with my first playstation. Prob did use most (if not all) the ps1's power and I don't remember seeing any ps1 game looking this good.

  • i used to have this tech demo

    it scared me

and i thought it was an actual game

  • this must of been using all of the power of the ps1 lol

  • Haha rendering that T Rex was equal to an entire games level character and UI.

  • This used to scare the crap out of me when I was young! Smile for the camera Mr. T-Rex! ;)

  • LOL that T-rex probably used half of the power of the PS1 anyway. I don't remember Dino Crisis looking anywhere that good.

  • 16 years ago this was made ... Even though these graphics were the ones used by games in like 2003-2004

  • Music reminds me of Resident Evil......^_^

  • sounds like perfect dark 64 almost....gonna play that actually...AIR DUSTIN TIME!

  • Graphics looks more like an avarage PS2 game. Since there's only the t-rex model in this scene they could use all the resources of the PS1 on this single model so it looks better than most PS1 games.

  • I don't remember seeing a PS1 game that looked this good

  • @noideac

It's using all it's power to generate the one model so you wouldn't of seen any games looking this schmick. This is still impressive today- bloody amazing in '95. I remember it well.

  • @NashiNashii oh, thanks for clearing that up. This looks more like something you would see in a late 90s PC game (so i guess that says how much more powerful PCs were by then lol) but ya this is pretty impressive

  • i loooooooooooooooved this dinasaur!!! my sister and i made it sing opera XD

  • Shitty looking.

  • Comment removed

  • Welcome back, dear childhood creepy music

  • its really impressive model is great textures are normal

  • Sauce on the awesome song!

  • That song is cool as hell man.

  • does anyone knows the song ?

  • Creepy as fuck.

  • rendering one single object is deceiving. If the PS3 would have to render only one dinosaur, oh my god. It would be photorealistic.

  • @turgore

Do you have a photo of a dinosaur?

  • @turgore lol no it would not.

  • I remember this!

I remember being afraid but because it was so awesome it didn't even matter.

  • haha a l'ancienne jme souviens j avais ca en demo sur un cd de demo a noel

  • WTF they can make this fantastic t rex,, but they can't make decent cratures on the Resident Evil 1

  • @redeadx5 Well, because this is a tech demo, where there's only one creature on black BG, whereas in RE1 there would be a lot more going on at the same time.

  • @redeadx5 This is the PS1's entire processing power going into a single model. When you do shit like maps, multiple enemies with AI's and more, you run out of memory to do it, so everything looks ugly. It's called spreading it too thin.

  • I tried this so often when I was younger and opened his mouth as he would talk ^^

  • just awesome, but i have to say it looks quite decent for the time :D

  • i love how these old tech demos focused on one single object. here you see a T-rex walking in the darkness, its almost a bit scary. this makes you question if those are dead pixels or if the machine is actually alive. it truly shows the change from 2D to 3D

  • I had nightmares of this T-Rex after I first saw it...

  • sorry i commented 3 times haha

    thought it wasnt working :)

  • UAu those were the days! Psygnosis minds days

  • can some one tell me the name of a game who had a trailer here? it was with a blonde guy who was tossing some axes… he was kinda johnny bravo look

  • @cuicnoh2 that will be Roscoe Mcqueen mate hahahaha!

    cant believed i remembered lol

    retro for life!!! XD

  • Roscoe Mcqueen if thats how you spell it lmao

    cant believe i remembered it

    RETRO FOR LIFE!!! XD

  • @cuicnoh2

    Roscoe Mcqueen hahaha

    retro for life! XD

  • Haha, I still remember this!

  • Probably the greatest Console of all time, and the greatest era in videogaming not just for PS1 but for Gaming as a whole. i miss the '90s

  • alll time classic manta an dino first real time grafics an well if you look they pushed the ps1 to the limit to im press always remeber

  • if the animation was better it would look quite good! Ps1 owned. Anyone remember nightmare creatures?

  • @d3tach3d One of the best games ever

  • Looking back the Playstation had it just right: CD-ROM and a good balance between 2D and 3D capabilities. Oh, and the controller was pretty good too.

Would be interesting to see this updated for PS3 hardware.

  • It still amaze me that it's a ps1 model and the song is so neat ^.^

    Brings back memories : D

  • Awesome music...

  • this was mind boggling back in the day, and its still fun today i reckon, just screwing around baring its teeth and stuff

  • Playable Demos: Abe's Oddysee Formula 1 '97 Hercules Lifeforce Tenka Porsche Challenge Rage Racer Kurushi Overboard Technical: Dino Manta V - CD Video: Soul Blade Rosco McQueen still got mine ever since my brother got the PSX when it was realeased in europe SCED-00816

  • sony really should do this for the ps3

  • this was the 1st system i owned back in 97' when i was only 4 years old, damn it looked so great back then, now it just looks like someone took a shit on the graphics and then wiped their ass with them as well!

  • @deltaenforcer93 Wow, their not that bad O_O Besides, the ps1 games beat the most new games by far. Maby all? Can be.

  • Cor I remember sitting and playing around with this for ages... It looked so realistic back then!

  • Why do tech demos always have awesome music?

  • @Segadude3000

To impress people into buying their products?

  • but none of the game creators made the graphics this good

  • I was maybe about 6 years old (20 now) when i used to play this and it scared me a little lol but i could never stop.

  • Damn, I remember this vid, good times, good times...

  • it scares! xD

must be cool do this in 360 :3

  • Like instant arts said, this looks too good for a ps1 game, all the power is used on 1 thing and not a whole world with other moving things.

It would be pretty awesome if it could though.

I feel this demo is very misleading to the power of the ps1.

Also why did nintendo try to do the same thing? they both tried to model a T-rex

  • i remember saying back in the day, HOW THE FUCK CAN IT GET BETTER THAN THIS!?...i guess i was wrong.

  • @toxic2k7 No. you were right. Those were the good old times, when that kinda stuff impressed. Now it's all just meh..another CoD and that kinda crap. Nothing to really blow your socks off.

  • @AleXy86 super mario galaxy 2, son.

  • @toxic2k7 nothing is better than this :D

  • wut demo is this???

  • @churan1234567

?? original PSX came with it.

  • I use to find it scary lol. It still kind of spooky.

  • Still impressive by todays standards.

  • I WISH THERE WERE MORE DINOSAUR GAMES...

NOT JUST FPS, BUT ONES WITH PLAYABLE DINOSAURS TOO,

IT WOULD BE NICE HAVING A VICIOUS CARNIVORE CHASING AND KILLING OTHER CREATURES... THEN EATING IT TO GET MORE LIFE IN THE LIFE BAR

SOMTHING SIMILAR TO THE LOST WORLD JURASSIC PARK FOR PSONE

I WISH SOMEONE MADE A GAME LIFE THAT, IT WOULD BE THE DREAM GAME OF ANY DINO LOVER

  • That's pretty cool, would that have been completely run by the computer, or was it moved/rotated by a controller? I think the latter would be much cooler.

  • @Esternamornezz

you can use your controller to rotate, pan and zoom. You can also turn the dinosaur's head and open its mouth... etc..All this with your PS1 controller!

I remember back in 1995, the demo made my friends shit their pants. It was so awesome...

  • @SickestDentalPlan the ps1 was more powerful than the n64 dipshit

  • @zimfromBM No it wasn't, look at Conker's Bad Fur day, that looks a hell of a lot better than ANY PSone game.

  • @SickestDentalPlan

I tend to agree because I always hated the pixelated textures in PS1 games, but the N64 had a lot of problems as well. It was a bad time for 3d graphics outside of arcades!

  • I found it scary :D

  • I can play the dino's theme tune on my keyboard

  • xmas day 98 Manchester England i was playing demo 1! It had lifeforce tenka, hercules, rage racer (not ridge? some spinoff i think) and a load of other stuff. And this t rex demo was really impressive and scary aswell. And they had another tech demo with sting rays in it. And you could open the drive and put a cd in and it would play a visualisation, later ps1 did this without the need for a disc.

  • @parrotcar Rage Rager was Ridge Racer 3, though I think it sold poorly for that very reason, everybody thought it was some Ridge Racer knock off xD

  • I'm not a graphics whore, but I'm interested, what PS1 games had the best graphics when they came out? (obviously only 3D games:)

  • @footreaver

In my opinion Gran Turismo 1-2, Tomb Raider 1-3, Wipeout and Air Combat. But alot of games were really impressive back then, and still is today.

  • @footreaver

People claim the N64 did but I think the PS1 did. Their use of colour was certainly better. This model is fantastic for the graphics engines at the time.

  • @footreaver omega boost is probably the best looking ps1 game you're gonna find. it's a space mech shooter type deal developed by polyphony digital, the same people that did gran turismo (in fact it's one of the only games PD's done that isn't GT and the ONLY game that wasn't a driving simulation is some fashion). pretty fun game too, kinda like panzer dragoon with big ass robots.

  • @footreaver As far as actual character models go, Tekken 3, but for surrondings and sheer graphical polish, Gran Turismo 2

  • i'm riding my bike, wooh

  • that music used to scare the shit out of me when i was a kid, still is kinda spooky

  • I have this original tech demo FUCK YEAH

  • @TheTaylormanson you stated you still have the original disc with the t-rex and other stuff on it. Know where i can get it online? whats the name on the disc so i look for it maybe?

  • i still got the demo disc with this on it :D one thing i used to do with it and still do from time to time is voice the t-rex when his mouth moves

  • @sapphiretiger1

Haha, me and my brother did that when we were younger as well. It was ridiculous xD

  • the N64 Shark looks better

  • @7footballfanatic7 *Street Fighter Scenario*

    ssssshhhhh.. 5th generation era!

    PSX T-Rex vs N64 Shark

    Rooouuund 1, FIGHT!

  • very high graphics for 95s

  • The original PS was the first console I played in my lifetime. When I found out it was 32-bit, the same league as the Saturn and 3DO and even lesser than the N64, I couldn't believe it. It all looked too good to be 32-bit!

Man if I didn't have so much wire-clutter in my room, I'd so hook my old PS up and play it again. Not even playing these things on a PS2 or a PS3 feels as good as playing it as intended. :)

  • for 15 years ago, that looks awesome. It took them 4 years (1999) to finally get Dino Crisis out, though.

  • Now, is the Saturn used its potential, it could beat the PSX in graphics. But, this looks better than what you would see on the N^$.

  • @sonikku956 I meant the N64.

  • Oh man, I remember this one! I borrowed it from a friend in 1999 to try it with PSEmuPro, and I was astonished!

To understand better how I felt, imagine running software from a current-gen console on your computer, and to your surprise it looks better there than it does on the console itself... That's how I felt!

  • funny that I still got my Demo1 and the Alien game you get with it.

  • Pretty good

  • i still have the disc with these tech demos on ahh the memories

  • hey are there any like fps games that involve shooting dinosaurs on ps1? and no dont say dino crisis or its sequel. im just wonderin

  • @JESSIEEDSELL21 why would we mention dino crisis? t's not even a fps game.

I believe you're talking about Turok, think there's a ps1 version of that game.

  • it brings a lot of memories. Do you Have This CD can you upload it?? I NEED IT MAN PLEAAAAAAAAAAAAASE.

  • When I found this tech demo about 15 years ago I was like WTF but I watched it for about half hour

  • This could be on a PS3 game and could look better then some games out there, and the funny thing is that it's older than me!

  • @5aq

Oh GOD you make me feel so old....

  • @WhiteMageMentality

If this was made in 1995 then yes it's older than me, or even if it was made before October 1996. I never thought there would be a 3d game looking like this older than me.

  • Just got a boner, thanks.

  • Stoner video!!!

  • Thats pretty good, looks almost like N64

  • i love that music

  • ps1 can do that if there's no BG ehehhee.. just look at d trex on tomb raider 1 ehehhee less polygon due to BG..

  • I loved this.

  • I had a dream about this when i was young, the t - rex somhow came out of my T.v. :(

  • Even in 2010, it's still the creepiest thing ever created on PlayStation.

  • makes me wanna kick niggers

  • oh man that looked so fantasic the first time i saw it!! :)

  • Creepy! and sexy!

And then . . . . DINO CRISIS WAS BORN!!! Scared me so bad as a kid!

  • You know...back in '95 these were the best graphics ever. Look at us now. In the next 10 years we'll be laughing at PS3 saying "look at how shitty graphics were back then."

  • @justicedude97 Who knows... We might be gaming in a holodeck. LOL

  • @justicedude97

It is getting harder and harder for graphics to get out of date though.

  • DEMO 1!!!

  • Pretty Damn Impressive for '95. Note that not all games that come out during the first year of the console's life take advantage of the system fully. I remember none of the games looking this good the first year the PSX was out.

  • Wow, I remember this. Back then I thought this was impressive and it made me excited about the future of gaming graphics

  • looks better than lot of games today, why?

  • i remember this

  • I frustred with this fucking DEMO

  • what ps1 game looks this good?

  • walk is funny but looks good :)

  • When it snarls and opens its mouth its scary, it was scary back than and it is still

  • better graphics than the actual system!

  • I remember this, it used to scare me shitless! :O

  • I remember this.. I crapped myself from FEAR when I saw this.

  • I have this on Demo 1 version 5 from 1997. Love that disc as it's got demos of Oddworld and Hercules. lol I remember being mesmerised by this tech demo as a kid but always wondered why hardly any games had this level of detail, and why the games that did were full of clipping, flashing polygons and texture distortion. lol

    Damn, I miss those days

  • @CLeRKSfan4life Haha, now you see that showing a simple walking T-rex with this ammount of detail took up all the PS1's power and left no room for an actual game? :D

  • @xilefian It seems that way. There were no games that had this level of detail throughout and as I said, the ones that came close had glitchy visuals. It probably could've been done but level size and gameplay would've been lacking.

  • @xilefian The Lost World had effectively that T-rex in green, as well as a whole game.

  • It is PSone and it`s also real -time, but the system is unable to do enviroment + gameplay + sound effects with this dinosaur, unlike say N64.

  • i remember thinking this was amazing

  • god i remember this! even though ps1 games never actually looked as good as this

  • @UserNameSuCock YEah!!! Only one dinosaur are easy. But with enviroment and other objects, psx couldn't move all.

  • @UserNameSuCock - Obviously, since they used most of the PS1's resources in just rendering that dinosaur. Add some more scenery and you'll be raping the console's hardware in no time.

  • ah i remember this thing, was awesome

  • Think about it though, the entire PS1 system rendering this - that's all the CPU and all the GPU power going into powering this one model. Of course you can't get an entire game world looking like this.

  • @instantarts I was gonna say, for PS1 it looks really detailed

  • Watch this in context; Real time. When people played fucking EarthBound.

  • this scared me as hell lol

  • i remember this, there was also a sting ray right with relaxing music?
