Mertesacker sucks. The guy is like 6'6" or 6'7" and really weak on headers. In addition to that he's slow and not very physical in the box. He's a waste of height and not even first choice anymore in the German squad due to better central defenders. The top teams in the Bundesliga didn't even want him, but Wenger scooped him up. There would have been much better options.

I think we will see Park-Young benefit from these players. He will love these 3, with his off-ball intelligence, pace and finishing.

@MrGunner835 in fact mertesacker is quiete quick,not only for his height,but in camparison with the other german national defenders.it just doesn`t look that quick becaus of his long legs!! i saw him playing several times..an believe me: maybe robben or ribery are/were the only ones who could beat him on the first meters.and thats no shame,u guess.robben&ribery are maybe the most explosive players in the bundesliga..

people forget that a back 4 is only as good as the midfielders that protect it. song lets players run past him or get behind him way too many times. wenger missed a trick in not signing a top holding midfielder.

@1983honey Finally somebody with sense. The back 4 are always isolated at arsenal. Song needs to stop getting forward. Full backs are also poor at crossing which leaves cb open to counter attacks. Only barca can do it better because they defend from the front.

Look at Man Utd, they sign players who make an immediate impact such as Young and Phil Jones (england squad). It's obvious why Arsenal win nothing cause they just can't get anyone who make an impact in the Premier league. And when they do, they want to leave (Fabregas, Nasri) cause the rest of the squad are bringing them down. This is all AW fault.

@aSH0GUN Your squad is a mockery of a so called top 4/6 side. Thomas Vermaelen and Koscelney are nowhere near as good as Vidic, Ferdinand, Terry, Kompany and co. Mertesacker could be good for the amount of money you're paying; but you will still struggle to compete financially. Your only good players are Van Persie, Walcott, and to some extent Gerviniho.

Credits to Man Utd though, they were at their best.

Rosicky, Arteta, Wilshere = 3 of the best 5 midfielders in the premier league when it comes to through-balls. They also tackle, have good acceleration, and take set-pieces well. With Song behind them this is a very formidable midfield. Look at utd with Fletcher, Cleverly, Carrick, Anderson - on paper zero creativity, but are key to utd getting so many goals. I think we will see Park-Young benefit from these players. He will love these 3, with his off-ball intelligence, pace and finishing.

@ashlesh666 Bremen had a bad last season, almost every player playerd below-average. Besides that, Per had an injury. But after he got healthy, he was in a pretty good shape. So you don't have to worry, he will do good in London, especially because it was his dream to play for Arsenal, since he was a little child and visited his aunt in London. He's a gunner at heart and will play with passion.

judging by the clips. he doesn't seem slow. hes no walcott obviously. he actually seems quite athletic for a tall and slim player. i searched for clips of him due to rumors about him being slow. he looks like the commanding cb we've been screaming for. plus hes german they have that no nonsense attitude.
