  • Check my 'MX-5 Cruising' video via my name.

  • ehh the smiley face could be toned down a bit. But other wise the mitia "MX5" is a fun little car to drive. Its very peppy and is just so fun to drive

  • s2000 is better

  • @Everyday Driver

I appreciate your professionalism in responses to comments on your video. I like your reviews and while they aren't the definitive word whether to buy a particular model of car they do get me thinking more about what I would be looking for. Which is really what buying a car is all about. Find out what you are looking for in a car and then think through the positives and negatives. Thank you for great, professional reviews. Well done!

  • As long as S2ks & Boxsters exist, I never see myself buying one (nice car tho)...unless Mazda hears me out. Give it some 3rd generation RX-7 styling or @least a more aggressive, sporty look. Make it mid-engined like a Boxster & give it that famous Mazda Rotary engine & bump the hp to @least 250+...for pure drivers who prefer manual, a 300 hp Manual Only model would be nice.

  • I ended up buying an S2000 instead of this. It's pretty hard to lose control of that car with the amount of grip it has which is pretty surprising to hear from the reviewers of this video.

  • @Nightbird. You don't buy a small sports cars for safety.... You buy them for fun..... For those who want safety go buy a slow boring Volvo

  • He forgot to mention how the "roll bars" are only cosmetic (according to Mazda) which means if some drunk driver hits you and rolls over the car (it's so small & light it wouldn't take much to do this) you would either break your neck from the weight of the car coming down on you..or just lose your head. And don't think the "hard top" would protect you in a roll over..it's made of lightweight plastic.

Mazda doesn't care about your safety in this casket on wheels. Unlike BMW, MB, Audi, or VW.

  • 3rd gen is too much GT not enough Sports. 4th gen will be much lighter, smaller, and better.

  • I own a Miata and have driven the S2000. I have a great deal of respect for the Honda, it's a shame they discontinued it. But as a daily fun car, the S2000 has higher limits to be as enjoyable in everyday conditions. All the things that make it better at the track also make it somewhat more "dangerous", if you catch my drift (no pun intended). The Honda will goad you into a ticket or lost license, while you would be having more fun with mx5 at sane speeds - smiling when the tail breaks loose..

  • blaah that front end is so ugly, mazda I'm sorry but right now all your cars beside the rx-8 are off point

  • so why was the s2000 discontinued because as far as i know honda has no sport car

  • It is very obvious these americans know very little about sports cars. The MX5 is the most raced car in the world...thats a fact. The car is 100% reliable, has loads of potential for upgrading it into a high performance Porsche killer. A stock MX5 is already faster around a race track than the american corabeth, or the rustang, and for 2/3 the price. These two men complain about the power, not knowing it redlines at 7,200 rpms. They compare it to a Camry? American men are very gay, and dont know

  • @Tophairybutt - We hope that you noticed the guys mentioned the MX5 as a great track toy, reliable, and available for upgrades. Plus, they gave it a very high rating. It isn't a powerhouse in stock form, but we're sure you'll agree that sheer grunt has never been the point of this car. A great car, and this point was acknowledged in the review. We're sorry that it didn't resonate with you, but hope you'll watch more of our work to get a feel for what we do.

  • @EverydayDriver It's like saying the Cessna 172 is great, but if it had jet engines and a few more rows of seats, it would go faster and carry more people. But then it would not be the best selling aircraft of all time. Just a couple lines of copy that make the guys seem like they don't know what they are talking about - at least to roadster fans.

  • @Tophairybutt I am an American who loves my Miata. I wanted an MG or a Triumph as a kid - so I was thrilled to see Mazda bring the little British roadster back. I have much more fun in this car than I would in a Mustang. You simply cannot toss a Mustang (or "muscle car" equivalent) around like you can a Miata. It's silly to even compare the two cars. ...and these guys complaining about the cabin size or horsepower is puzzling.

  • Not even close to a sports car.

  • @terraLiquidus typical troll

  • @euroseptic1 haha wow kid you dont know shit sit your ass down do some homework and find out what a zr1 really does instead of sitting in youre stupid wana be lil barbie car suckn your boyfriends dick k?

  • Shitty review... For one most family sedan are NOT going to blow the doors of the MX-5 and it does not need +100 HP. If you've ever driven one you'd know it's plenty fast. The S2K is fun as well but not nearly as good a daily driver plus they aren't made anymore (no thanks to used sports car). The MX-5 is easily the funniest car to drive south of 45K.

  • @euroseptic1 im a retard because i dont believe that a 165hp car can be a sports car.. lmao but no its a 2 seater drop top of course its a sports car. lmaoo damn kid dont you have anything better to do than being a straight up bitch. and dawg check out my channel, Corvette ZR1 637bhp ceramic breaks and sport tuned suspension, dumbshit thats one of the many great american sports cars. i love imports dont get me wrong, step outta the box once n awhile european septic tank garbage

  • @ffe224

If I had a ZR1 I'd roll it off a cliff straight into a river, crappy handling plastic piece of shit. If that is the best the Americans can do no wonder they spend most of the time importing from Europe and Japan. Now suck my fat one and shove your plastic piece of shit up your ass you prick

  • @euroseptic

Well the lotus actually meant for what it is. But this mx5 miata bs is stupid. You need somee kind of power to be a sports car fucking European septic tank shit what if I just took a lil hatchback took out the backseats would it be a sportscar? Hell no. Mazda made a poser ass car mx5 is for girls and fags so congrats you're probably one of the two

  • Mx5 track car.. lmfao...

  • @eurosceptic1 mx5 is barely even a sports car the only sporty thing about it is its convertible top. everything else is worthless no hp for crap like its a barbie girl version of an s2k maybe for ppl who cant handle them get mx5 haha

  • @ffe224

You're a retard, a sports car is defined as ' a small, usually two seat, two door automobile designed for high speed driving and handling'.

The MX5 doesn't need massive horsepower, if it did then American cars wouldn't be such a load of crap. Track day cars are about speed and handling. The lotus elise is one of the best track day cars there is and it has a 1.8 engine and 220 bhp. Now run along shit for brains.

  • @eurosceptic1 I love when retards like you call others retards...especially when it's in response to an obvious truth. "a small, usually two seat, two door automobile designed for high speed driving and handling" is EXACTLY how a sports car is defined, you ignorant retard. Oh, and btw, retard, American sports cars have consistently been setting performance records at the Nurburgring (and elsewhere) course for years...at a fraction of the cost of their overpriced rivals. You're pathetic.

  • @PumpingSmashkins

American sports cars? There's no such thing you donk, and yes I was the one saying how a sports car is defined in response to that other retard. It was my quote you thick retard.

Wow, I thought it would be hard to sound dumber than that other retard on here but you managed it, so congrat's on the dumbest comment on here.

    LOL OMG

    What a dumbass you are,

  • @eurosceptic1 lmfao. no such thing as American sports cars. What's it like to have an IQ of 20? Christ, you're pathetic. Don't bother replying, retard, because I don't waste time on ignorant losers. Now go back to sucking your grandfather's cock and fucking your sister, you pathetic piece of shit.

  • @PumpingSmashkins

LOL. Have they let you out of special ed for the weekend Retard? I'm surprised you had the nerve to reply after proving yourself a fucking idiot. Then again, if you knew not to reply, you wouldn't be the fucking retard you are.

You're a credit to the American education system. No wonder everyone thinks Yanks are thick as fuck. :)

  • These guys aren't very good, this car is about top down fun at a reasonable price and nothing does it better than the mazda mx5.

And yes, as someone has already said, they no longer do the S2000, it stopped in 2009 and even if they did still do it, you would be looking at paying an extra $10 000 on top of the mx5 price so not really fair to compare.

PS why the feck did you leave the top up on a day like that?

  • @eurosceptic1 - Every car is more fun to drive with the top down - The terrible Chrysler Sebring convertible is the best example. Leaving the top up requires a person to focus on the dynamics of the car and not be distracted by the top-down fun. And we encourage cross shopping of new cars with used cars, thus the S2000 comparison. We're a show for enthusiasts and both are great cars to consider. Of course this car is better with the top down, but you hope you noticed how much the guys liked it.

  • ^_^

  • The interior is the only thing this barbie car has over an s2k the only reason why I'd buy this over an s2k

  • @ffe224

Your comments are stupid, the mx5 is a great car. It's a fun sports car at a reasonable price. The s2000 is also a very good car but if I had the extra money to afford the s2000 I'd be buying a lotus elise/exige so for me there is no reason to buy the s2000.

  • All I gotta is, miata's are barbie cars. Theyr for ppl who either hate the s2k, hate Honda in general, can't afford one, or just straight up don't like a sports car

  • Forgive my ignorance upon asking this, but how does this machine grip wet, or icy, snowy streets or roads?

I'd buy a MX5 in a heartbeat if I only knew how it drives in inclement weather.

I would use it as a daily driver. I'm located in the northeastern part of the U.S. and driving can be quite a trip come winter, especially with the Mazda's rwd.

    Any 4-1-1?

    Many thanx...

    Peace!<-AladdinSaneNYC-

  • @AladdinSaneNYC

It is a front engine, rear wheel drive so the back end will step out in bad weather. It is a very much loved car in the UK though and it rains and snows for 10 months of the year here. You just have to get used to being a little more careful in the wet and snow than you would in the dry and make sure your tires have good tread on them. If you have worn tyres in the wet or snow on this thing then you will be doing circles.

  • @AladdinSaneNYC

Also I'd say if your unsure whether to splash out on a new one then buy an old mk1 version for about $1000, spend a few months in it and see how you like it, you'll be able to sell it and get your money back whether you choose to buy a new one or not

A lot of people use the old ones as track day cars because you can add to the performance quite easily and you're not too worried about crashing them when you've only paid $1000.

I kept my old one for the track and have a new one.

  • May i ask how tall are you guys in the show? reason being is im around 6 5 and i fit in a NA mazda miata great. i only have a complaint of its not a long distance driver but a new seat could change that.

  • @machineshopp - Both the guys are 6'3", but they have very different leg and torso length so they never seem to fit in cars the same. We're thrilled to hear you're yet another happy Miata owner. Thanks for watching and commenting!

  • fair price it's a RWD car that has excellent handling

  • i think you guys are the best reviewers on the internet or youtube or whatever haha

  • @the1end1starts1now no fucking way buddy. The S2000 is not even in production anymore. it's out of equation.

  • mx5 is the best valued sports car ever. the bald guy sounds like douche who only care about power.

  • the interior layout looks like the mk5 gti

  • Anyone who thinks the Miata needs more power instantly loses all credibility as a car reviewer. The Mazda follows the recipe of a British sports car: tiny engine at the front, 2 seats in the middle, and RWD at the back. It is designed solely for driving enjoyment, not producing performance figures.

I drive a first-generation Miata, with only 130 hp, and I have never felt it was underpowered. If I need more power, I double-clutch it down a gear or two and I'm off.

  • Very nice review guys. It does honor to what Mazda engineers have built - excellent work. It feels sincere, just and well documented.

  • @EverydayDriver How tall are paul and todd?

  • owned by FORD :D

  • @errenthovsep No, they aren't. In fact, Ford has completely sold off the limited interest it originally had in Mazda. Oh yes, and that 2.3 4 cylinder in the Fusion and Ranger? Mazda engineered.

  • @EChid ohh nice well ranger is a fail and fusion is just dumb.

  • @errenthovsep The Ranger is a fail? Someone should tell that to all of the people who bought them and loved them, for years. As in, since 1993 (in this body style). It is also one of the most reliable trucks, and of course has garnered multiple awards for its fuel efficiency. But by all means, if you say its a fail. As for the Fusion? Oh, I'm sorry, same story though. Fords MOST reliable car, ever, and the biggest force of their amazing recovery since 2008. You are such a troll.

  • @EChid ok NEVERMIND! a friend of mines got a fusion! that thing is nice! and for the ranger its a pussy truck v6? low power? small size? ide rather not. for all the people who bought one good for them im happy buy FORD! but ide rathher have a f-150/f-250

  • @errenthovsep Just because the Ranger is small doesn't mean it is less capable. Common misconception that all of North America seems to believe in. My friend and his family farm full time and own a full size V8 pickup and a little 4-cylinder, 2WD Ranger. The Ranger is the one that is used 90% of the time, while the big pickup sits, since the Ranger can do everything the big truck can besides towing, and is easier to handle and more fuel efficient.

  • @EChid yes very true, but the v8 is still more capable in the long run, and im sure it can tow more. ranger is a great truck.

  • mazda really have to loose the dorky smiley face!!

  • Ha Ha Ha, us in the UK have had this facelift for three and a half years! BTW Great Show...

  • @ReuRomansolTobo - We've had it in this country for a few years as well. But we're a young show with limited staff and output, so this was our first chance to review this version.

Many thanks for watching, commenting, and even more for complimenting our efforts! Thanks again and tell a friend or two!

  • @EverydayDriver Well even if you are "a young show with limited staff and output", you do a really great (entertaining/informing) show and the fact your on a relatively low budget frankly makes it even better. Your presenters have brilliant automotive knowledge and have the confidence to put their own opinions into the reviews rather than just having hard facts and statistics. I can't say enough how good these videos are, you guys should be really proud of what your doing. SUBSCRIBED!

  • @ReuRomansolTobo - Big compliments there... and you're speaking directly to what we set out to do with the show. We are very flattered, thank you!

  • @EverydayDriver this is probably one of the best car reviewers in the world, who knows this show might be famous worldwide one day

  • I think Mazda has lost the appeal of the Miata with this latest generation. My 1995 is brilliant because of its ridiculous proportions. It weighs in at less than 2200 lbs and has just 130 hp. I can therefore get through 2 or 3 gears before exceeding the speed limit and I can chuck it into any turn at nearly any speed. The new MX-5's are heavier, more mainstream and more powerful. They have therefore deluded the three characteristics that made the original Miata's such an enormous success.

  • @marshknute

i think that there is a big shift to change the stigma associated with it. I personally think it's a great car and has always been

  • @Ilanactingreel Don't get me wrong: the 2011 MX-5 is a great driver's car. I simply feel like it has deviated from its roots too much. Mazda agrees, and has announced that the new model will loose 400-ish pounds and adopt smaller dimensions.

  • @marshknute

what are your thoughts on the VW eos. I am debating buying either a 2008 mx5 or Eos and can't decide. Any other recommendations would be great as well

  • @Ilanactingreel The E0S isn't even in the same league as the MX-5. It is front wheel drive and weighs nearly 1000 pounds more. If you are looking for a fun little convertible, your best bets are the MX-5 and Honda S2000. Remember, the pre-2004 S2k's rev to 9000 rpm and the newer ones only 8250. The Miata corners better while the S2000 accelerates faster (but you have to be at 6000+ rpm's to access that extra power). Steer clear of the Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice.

  • The the confidence and security go out the window if you give it more power.

  • S2000 is a different car.. by the way...

  • It was great for small people till the NC model... now the bigger persons have a feeling that there were recognised! Leave us small alone :D

  • 0-60 in 7 seconds!! How is that something to complain about. That is pretty peppy. Hell, I call 8 seconds good. My corolla that I drive around has an 11 second 0-60 and it's still somewhat fun to drive.

  • Are the ligths xenon adaptive??

  • thumbs up if you just love this car and the way u can feel the engine roar when your driving.

  • the Miata needs another 100hsp???

Right when those words came out of his mouth, this review lost all its credibility.

The reason why the Miata is legendary is because it proves time and time again that you dont need 300 horsepowers to enjoy a sports car.

AT MOST... the miata a bump in 20-30 hsp... will be MORE then sufficient.

But for most, 170hsp in a corner handling beast with rear wheel and oozing character is more than enough .

  • where is this road? looks amazing!

  • Do you not like the smile?

  • hey, Mazda heard you moar power cry with Mazda MX-5 GT. It does not look street legal, but great for a track day toy.

  • If you add more HP, it loses balance -- it's a Miata folks, it's not a S2000. If you want an S2000, go get one...do they still make them?

  • If you add more HP, it loses balance -- it's a Miata folks, it's not a S2000. If you want an S2000, go get one...do they still make them.

  • I'd recommend it to a post menopausal secretary lol

  • im trying to decide between an s2000 and this ive read a lot about both so dont tell me to go read and decide i just want personal opinions.. this will be my first roadster

  • @thorfoxxx I hope you have not made your decision...I did alot of research on both the s2000 and the MX 5 the last 5 years. I was so undecided on the two that I opted for a 4Runner. I decided to open this can again as I was getting tired of the gas I was spending on my SUV. I can go into the details but I am sure you have done your homework. Last October I traded in my beloved 4Runner for a MX 5 and I love it. Sure there are faster and bigger cars out there but this is a fun car

  • @thorfoxxx I think the next big question is color. I chose the black but the blue is sweet but hard to find. Good luck.

  • @thorfoxxx i promise you will be the most happy if you buy the s2000

  • @MagicSeal LS1s are awesome. Assuming direct from factory for new models: small displacement twin turbo charged very possible to produce 270 hp. If power not managed properly you lose what a Miata is about: driveability.

A LS1 v8 is an engine you don't have to keep "on the pipe", being a good match for a reinforced Miata chassis.

  • worse than top gear america, and that's saying a lot.

  • You guys might think the interior is small, but all guesses and rumors are that the next generation will be smaller, and with less HP, more like the original.

You really can't compare this to an S2000...not in the same category.

  • @oldatarigamer true that

  • Guy on the right: you are correct in giving this car 4 stars, even though you said it needed 100 (!) more hp. The car is perfectly balanced with limited grip, short wheelbase and 170 hp. You said it yourself. Near 300 hp in this chassis would be disastrous. It's just not long enough like the s2000, the notorious end swapper.

Guy on the left: and s2000 will bore you stiff as a daily driver. All nor nothing, says the engine.

  • @jitahsful You're implying that there aren't tons of LS1 Miatas out there, and there's nothing disastrous about them.

  • @jitahsful you said exactly what I was going to say. An extra 100 hp would be missing the point.

    It's definitely a driver's car, even without the get-up-and-go.

  • i agree they should replace those top gear clowns

  • I really enjoy watching these videos

  • Doesn't the S2000 not exist anymore?

  • @Midknight1124 That is correct. The S2000 ended production permanently as of mid-2009. It's gone forever, and Honda is not considering making a successor. There were plans for a successor, but with the economic downturn of 2008, that idea went out the window for good.

Future *possibilities* exist for a new car which you can consider an "S3000" with a 3L V6, but that no longer fits in the same category as "small light roadster," but more an upstream sport coupe slotted to fight the 370Z & Genesis

  • This is a good car for women, not guys...unless they're girly.

  • Great review, as always fellas. Keep up the good work. I'm currently interested in the Mini Countryman. If you could get your hands on one that's be great!

  • it is a great car. but 30 k is just too much.

  • Great video! They are all worth the wait, keep it coming!

  • you'd be an idiot if you get this over a s2k

  • Great production values, competent camera work, and cogent points about the vehicle. Although you did refer to "eyes landing" twice but it's a tiny complaint. In the final analysis should is the question "should I own this ONLY"? As in as your only mode of transport? Or can it be to own one as a weekend car? For fun non-essential fair-weather toy you could do a lot worse than an MX-5.

  • Having driven every iteration except the new one, I have preferred the original for multiple reasons. Styling is very basic, motor bay fits a V8 easily, and the transmission if fantastic. This gen has me giddy though. 6-speed, decent power adders available, and its styling is akin to my 6.

You are right about the S2000 though. Much better car in many ways. I'd still buy the MX-5/Miata though. Whatever the reason, its still being made and the Honda isn't. That says a lot about this car.

  • The Miata is a car that doesn't need to make a statement. It's just well.....kinda fun. Not the same idea with the S2000.

Get a NA if you're going to the track, it's a poor man's lotus.

  • NB looks better than NC.

  • I agree with everything you guys say, although SOME track don't allow soft top. And the hard top gets around this.

  • Paul I'm with you. I'm getting My S2000 Saturday!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @plagick Best of luck. Get the carbon fiber Mugen hardtop and a set of wider fenders. It'll look amazing.

  • I had the opportunity to put about 140 miles on a really nice '96 Miata last year and drive it back-to-back against my '00 BMW M Roadster up and down some twisty mountain roads. Needless to say, I've since sold the M Roadster and am looking for a nice '96-'00 NA or NB Miata... I was that impressed. I suppose it just goes to show that a car doesn't need a lot of power to be tons of fun.

  • @PTPetra ford focus svt ;) .... it will make you will sell your mazda

  • @pretty00lights Owned an F-SVT. It was alright, but I'll keep my Mazdas (NA Miata and 3.0L 6S). Best track cars ever.

  • @americansmark light weight and rwd, cant get anymore fun than that

  • I always wonder why Mazda didn't give the 3rd generation Miata a Mazdaspeed version. I really like the reviews honest opinion about the interior. The quality and fit and finish is superb for a car under 30K. I also liked that even though it's a small car, the doors and pillars and overall feel is far more substantial than the previous generation.

  • Comment removed

  • not simile face but! BRUTAL SHARK FACE!!!

  • this car is shit: underpowered and the ride sucks. if you want a car like that get a boxter

  • @bronze5420 you really dont need a lot of power to have fun. if you want to run it on the drag strip dont buy a mazda. if u live near a place like BlueRidge prkway ... buy a mazda

  • @pretty00lights i am aware that you don't need power to have fun, but it helps alot. i live in victoria bc in canada. i spend a lot of time on saltspring island which has some of the funnest roads around. i handle's well enough, but it is suck a busy and rough ride, that the whole experience is ruined. pay a bit more and get a boxter and it is several times better

  • @bronze5420 What's a Boxter? lol. The Porsche Boxster is a totally different class man. Mazda is FMR and the Boxster is RMR. Also a flat-6 vs and inline-4. Not even comparable, even if the prices were remotely similar on some planet. Only common denominator is the fact that both are regarded as chick cars by foolish people.

  • @americansmark you are extremely correct. they are two totally different classes of car, but they were both built with the same purpose: an extremely fun roadster. you can't get a mazda mx5 for much under 40000 (cdn) after taxes and fees. you could get an used boxter in extremely good condition with low mileage for about 50000. considering the added refinement, power, space....the list goes on; i think there is no choice as to which car to get

  • @bronze5420 But now you are comparing used to new. Comparing new to new, there is no contest. Comparing used to used, you could drop what you have in just buying the Boxster and have the fastest 90s Miata ever made. I'm not saying the Miata is the holy grail of cars, but there is a reason its legendary among enthusiasts and the Porsche is not. You blow the Miata motor, swap one in for 1000 bucks. Replacing a German-built motor or other component will break any track-day budget.

  • @americansmark you raise a good point. for enthusiasts and track day goers the miata has its place. i am looking at these two cars as something i would drive everyday all the time and having driven both i see more value in the refinement and added power of the boxter over the miata.

  • @bronze5420 I want to drive the Boxster, but am not that financially secure enough to afford one yet. I always think from a track perspective though. If I were in the market for a Boxster for a daily driver in the summer, absolutely I'd want a 2nd gen. But, if I were getting a German car and was willing to drop up 50k on one, it'd be a certified used RS4 or a new S4. Those are about the only ones whose styling doesn't offend me one way or another.

  • @americansmark i thought we were talking about fun roadsters...s4 and rs4 comepletely different cars. theyre just big sedans with big engines. odd choice for a "purist" who takes their piece of shit miata with a sewing machine under the hood to track days

  • @bronze5420 I'm just saying those are the only German cars that appeal to me personally. I'm nowhere near a "purist". I just like what I know and can't say I like something I have no experience with. I don't think i said I had a sewing machine motor. And the Miata is far from a pos. Just because I can buy 60 within 10 miles of home means nothing more than parts are available when I eventually spin it. ;) I love sport sedans. I OWN one. I also love coupes with big motors a la GTO 6.0L.

  • @americansmark s4 and rs4 arent coupes. there is a reason you can buy a miata so easily: they are shit

  • @bronze5420 I didn't say they were. I said sport sedans. The coupe comment had nothing to do with that, just reaffirming I like big motors in bigger cars, just not for a track car. I've never ever driven a bad Miata. What did they do to you that you have such disdain for the car? You sound like the automotive version of the Crackberry douchebags. ugh. Get over yourself bro. Its a car. Its not like you have to drive it.

  • Nice review... but that thing is way too ugly and expensive for what it is to ever purchase.

  • Maybe in the future, you can do an episode where you compare the three generations of Miata.

  • Good review. I recently drove one. The power is definitely disapponiting. Handling is extremely forgiving, although my wife was less so when I was hanging the rear-end out on onramps in a controlled drift. The thing is just kind of coarse and noisy though.

  • Great show! Keep the reviews coming!

  • They should do a mazdaspeed mx-5, no ? =P Awesome car anyway, and good review too !

  • @GTtuner56

I'm not 100% sure, but they don't make Mazdaspeed MX-5 anymore.

  • @c0nv1ct1337 I know that there's no mazdaspeed mx-5 at the moment ! I was just saying it would be cool... With an engine similar to the one in the Mazdaspeed 3, it would kick ass!

  • @GTtuner56

Ahh, misunderstood your comment. I thought you meant they should review one.

I completely agree though. Personally, I think they should put the Mazdaspeed 3 motor in the RX8 as well. Sadly it had to be killed off the production line because the rotary engine can't pass emissions standards.

Bigger engine, turbo, intercooler, etc would add significant weight to the Miata though, not sure if that would be accepted by most Miata fans who love the car for the small curb weight.

  • @c0nv1ct1337 Well, If Mazda makes a Mazdaspeed version of the mx-5, they would probably change some parts to aluminium or magnesium, to keep the weight low. And, I'd be surprised to see a big engine in the tiny mx-5 (Still, I've seen a V8 Miata...). "Simply" bolting a turbo/intercooler kit with some cam and ECU ajustment would probably add a good 100hp to the actual engine. And, I don't think Mazda can put the Speed 3 engine in the MX-5, because the 3 is fwd, and the mx-5 is rwd.

  • looks really smooth.

  • Not crazy about this car...Love Mazdas...but 167 hp roadster....just cutting it to slim on power...The should have a Mazdaspeed5 option for pizzazz

  • Great review as usual guys! I really enjoyed it along with the music.

  • main reason i love the miata is it handles much like the first generation Rx7's. very predictable and very nice in the corners. the key to being fast is maintaining speed. you dont need a lot of HP to have fun.

  • LOL at 6:19

  • Would this suit a secretary on the rag?

  • You guys barely touched on the comparison between s2000 and this car as stated in the description box. Did you guys want us the do it ourselves?

  • i wish they had a MazdaSpeed version of this car that would be epic

  • @Josephalosaurus Yeah, it's a shame that they discontinued it. The previous generation had a Mazdaspeed version but I guess it didn't sell well enough or something.

  • Well made, well driving, under powered. What if the put the 2.3 turbo in this car?

  • I can't wait until Mazda moves away from that super smiley grill.

  • US Top Gear lacks real competition between the hosts. Why not grab people from competing car reviewing companies, Matt Farah, these guys, insideline, and many more

  • Best car show on youtube.

    Keep it up guys

  • What sucks about the MX-5 is that its still a chicks car, or at least that's how the stereo type goes. Its a nice fun little car tho.

  • @GreekFenah its not just for chicks gay guys love this car no joke

  • @MrChillgoose People that are worried about looking 'gay' have no self confidence. The Miata is rear wheel drive, perfect 50/50 balance. Its more a sports car than a lot of cars out there.

  • @GreekFenah Depends on where you live. Chick car stereotype is mostly an American thing; Mustangs are for chicks, Civics are for teenage girls..so on..but you go anywhere else in the world people are intelligent enough not to label a small sporty car like the Mx5 a chick car, lots of men drive them in Asia and Europe without having the trouble of being labeled gay. Its unfortunate how many Americans try to label everything.

  • review a porsche cayman S or the new cayman R. mid engine, 300+ hp, RWD, and TONS of storage space in the front trunk and the rear hatch. Still not having reviewed it at this point is kinda fail for a sport car enthusiast's youtube channel. 1st gens can be had for under 30K$ for full speced out cayman S models with 19inch OEM wheels, 6spd, adjustable suspension, nav, BOSE optical sound system, sport plus package with trackday gps lap timing and recording features. think about it guys!

  • i think this car in its base form, is the pure essence of a sports car. I am not on the same camp that more power is always better.

  • They both good car reviewer but i like Paul more.

  • Car looks happy

  • i bought an s2000 a year ago after the mazda mx-5 i had had to move on, i still miss the mx-5 in some ways but the s2000 is insanely good, i reckon it will be a huge classic one day in the same way the mx-5 already is

  • As with most Mazda's, for the money its hard to beat.

  • Good review, guys. I think you captured the mx-5 pretty well. If you saw the Top Gear middle east special, at the end Clarkson says something about how the miata is just a machine to him. Everyone agrees that it's a fantastic (albeit underpowered) machine, but at the end of the day I don't see myself falling in love with it - although some people do.

    That's why I own an s2000, I guess. Rx-8, 350/370z, mx-5, mr2 etc. just didn't do it for me.

  • Where is this place?!

    It's BEAUTIFUL

  • s2k is 50grand in canada lol

  • @vintimv001 llf :D get outa canada THEN buy 1 :D

  • I love the Miata, but I love the S2000 that much more.
