This version, by Paul A. Aitken, is AMAZING! At my highschool, we are singing this song for Remembrance Day and we chose this one to support Paul because he was actually a graduate of my highschool! So cool :D
I do think they could have taken it a bit slower, as the sheet music I have is marked as such, but the speed didn't detract from the performance at all. Over all, great job!
I may be biased, since I'm a tenor, but though this was very well done, the tenors seemed REALLY light. Especially during the louder parts (We are the dead/We throw the torch) they were completely overpowered by the bases/baritones. Also, the girls seemed overpower the guys in general. (Especially at we throw the torch)
@TheXeneron Hey there, fellow Tenor! Hahaha. I agree on the the loud parts, the Baris/Basses overpowered the Tenors just a bit.
However, if you look at the sheet music, the female parts are almost constantly marked louder than the males. ESPECIALLY during the "In Flanders' Fields the poppies blow." parts. The male voice parts are meant to be the quiet murmurings of the dead.
i think the person who said that you need to work on blend may be getting confused with the distance between two notes in some parts of the piece.that is the way it is supposed to sound but overall great job!!
beautiful version and well done! all these comments saying "they shoudl do this and that" are so silly! can't people ever stop being jealous and just say well done?
I toured with a choir through Europe, and we sang this song at the Flanders Fields monument. Very touching. And I want to conduct this for my senior project as well ;) Great job with this song.
No it isn't really.. in sheets there is that it should be sang in this tempo. ;)
And to the choir - i like it, I really do. Just a few places where it should have been slowed down a bit and few places where you weren't really clear, so I'd give it 80/100 :)
my choirs vocal ensemble gruop sang this song w/ this arrangement. I think it is way better than the original version of this poem. This actually captures the deep dark and mysterious meaning behjind the poem. It fills the room with emotion. Just fantastic
my school sang this song, this year for a competition and we realized how touching and deep it was after visiting Arlington cemetery that same day. This son is so beautiful great job
it shows it emotion of a pen drawn po-em into the physical motional side of the lovely poem.

my only complaint is that i think it should be sung a bit slower for the emotional impact, but you guys did a real great job!

I was thinking the same thing. My concert choir perfomed it much slower. & This is a very large concert choir!
needs to work on blending maybe..
