Im so going to see this fucking movie tomorrow night.Im already on page 202 of the book.Do you guys think that is cool to go see this movie before I finish reading the book?
I had hopes when David Fincher signed up for this, but this just looks way too obvious, everything is thrown at you, there is no intrigue in Lisbeth here, Blomkvist comes across weak, the fact that he lost his life savings was a thought that crossed his mind, it wasn't as major a concern as they make it out to be.
Listen, this is the American version of this great story. It's not a remake of the Swedish film. That film is on it's own. This is Fincher's vision and an adaptation of the book for American audiences. Stop bashing this film with all your bullshit and own it, this is going to be great.
@thebouncer12345 The shots are exactly the same, the characters look the same. There's nothing original here. And there's no way Rooney Mara will come even close to outdoing Noomi Rapace's performance.
god damn why are they speaking with accents? It is so distracting. If they were in Sweden they would be speaking Swedish, not English with Swedish accents. The worst thing is some are using British accents, some Swedish.
seems like a good movie, im in love with the swedish version tho. but i think the american version has more details like in the book, only difference really. if you have read the books you'll get the whole picture. looking forward to see it!
Ho humm... she looks a little bit like Elijah Wood in my opinion. Not that that's a bad thing. I loved the Swedish series, and am bound to love this one too. It looks like they kept a lot of ideas from the first series, so I'm happy :-)
Anyone who is complaining about this film being made, purely because of the existence of the Swedish adaptation, has their argument rendered invalid by the existence of the original novel. The Wizard of Oz and The Maltese Falcon, the ones everyone has seen or at least heard of, were not the first film adaptations of their novel source material. I'm not saying that I think this film is destined to be a classic, but it has every right to be fairly considered as a stand-alone film in its own right.

I loved the book and though the original Swedish movie was flat, but after seeing this I might have to reconsider. Daniel Craig doesn't look anything like Mikael Blomkvist, Rooney Mara is scary similar but can she beat Noomi Rapace? I love Fincher so lets hope for his sake this turns out to be great.
-ted to make an adaptation around the time. But was tight in schedule with other movies. If your gonna hate it then watch the movie to have more good reasons, why? And if you like it then that's really great :). Other than that you would be wasting your time. I know I might be wasting mine but the negativity was getting annoying and needed to be pointed out. Sometimes Americans can surprise you, even in movies ;).
Shut the fuck up about "oooh this is gonna be a bad remake or how impatient Americans are about subtitles and shit" -:(. First of all it's gonna be another adaptation of the book. Second, I do agree on some parts that Americans make bad movies out of good books or some other shit (Look at Twilight). But you shouldn't judge too harshly. The trailer looks really promising and the director for this movie did deliver good movies in the past :). I mean the book came out in 2005 and David Fincher wan

Yes, I understand people's frustrations with the fact that there's another adaptation of the book. I did love the Swedish version and thought Noomi Rapace did a great job of portraying Lisabeth. However, David Fincher is a brilliant director and this looks like it will be an even more faithful adaptation to the book. Come on guys I loved the first film. My favorite film of last year. But this isn't some crappy remake were talking about like city of angels was. This is David Fincher were talking about. It's like when Martin Scorsese remade "Internal Affairs." Who in the world would be made about that! Rooney Mara doesn't seem as amazing as Noomi Rapace but everyone ells seems just as great as their foreign counterparts and Fincher will be a much better director.
@likecloudsthatfly I understand your wanting to defend it. I in-fact love fincher. But HW has a habit of buying anything semi-popular from oversees for production of a US version. Just like they buy every semi big book release.
The simple fact is that they should let the original lie for a few years. Americans just can't handle subtitles, too damned impatient
@likecloudsthatfly lol I can't wait for this either but the whole it's an adaptation not a remake thing people say it utter shit lol whether your using the book as your main source or the first adaptation your still remaking it and it doesnt stop it being an american remake
@nyjab10 Sorry but no. The Red is good when used in a masterful way but 35mm won't be superseded for at least the foreseeable future. None of the modern digital cinema cameras have passed celluloid yet but they're getting pretty damn close. There's this magical look about film and it's apparent to anyone who really knows the difference. Digital isn't taking over because of superiority but because it's "easy" and good enough, sometimes even breathtaking when used properly. i.e. this movie.
To everyone that is writing this off as a "stupid Hollywood remake", shut the fuck up. It's another adaptation of the book. Fincher has wanted to make this film since he first read the book. The book came out in 2005. He was busy working on Zodiac, Benjamin Button, and The Social Network from 2005 until last year. He is just now having a free schedule to do this. Do some research before you write things off as "remakes". Let the art do the talking and from the looks of it this film looks great.
this version will be better than the swedish films. Those films were very pedestrian in terms of adapting the books. They unexceptional and they never got under my skin which the books did. David Fincher isn't a Hollywood Hack, he's a real director. Don't discount this version yet. Watch and I guarantee you'll be amazed.
fucking people hating on Fincher but when the movie comes out they suck Fincher balls like no tomorrow. This is exactly what happened to The Social Network. fucking poser.
This is NOT a remake of the Swedish film. It is another adaptation of a wonderful book. I have complete faith that David Fincher will make it amazing. And let's be honest, the Swedish films left a lot of stuff out. So stop being complete hipsters about this and acting like the Swedish films were the greatest thing ever made. I'm pretty sure that the guy who made Fight Club and Zodiac can do these books justice.
They should have just translated the movie over...which looks liek they did but theyve changed dialogues and some scenes....needless to say....huge mistake
People who are so loyal to the Swedish version remind me of Twilight fans. They forget about the books and fall in love with an unfaithful movie adaptation and will defend it to the death. It wasn't good. They weren't Larson's characters.
I really wish the American producers would stop remaking foreign films cause they ruin it everytime they do and I am American, do they not have nothing better to do, well the again they havn't had any descent movies made in along time all this twilight garbage is taking over, and the rest of they're movies suck they couldnt even make Capt America good jeeze weez
@malakalili i disagree. Captain america was fine. Nothing great. American remakes arent always bad. Look at insomnia. The U.S version is much better than the original norweigan movie (which was pretty good as well.) I think your just generalising. But i cant blame you the track isnt good. For every good or decent remake we have many bad ones. I think the ration is100:1 (Bad:Good)
This makes me feel so sad, because i love David Fincher, i think the cast is great. But THE ORIGINAL WAS SO GOOD! this is completely unessasary. It's let the right one in all over again :(
why the hell do people always say " I just saw the whole movie in the trailer" does anybody know what a fucking trailer is, it's a device used to attract people to the film. If you just watched the whole movie in the trailer then why the fuck do you still go see it or rent it.
The original Swedish title was 'Men Who Hate Women' also known as 'Män som hatar kvinnor.' I believe Daniel Craig's best film was either Layer Cake or The Road to Perdition.
I dont rly get the reason why they are making this film. Of course if Fincher wants to make his own adaptation I guess its okay, but the original film was so awesome, and rly any1 who havent seen it and are about to see this, GO AND SEE THE ORIGINAL.
This is a remake of the swedish ones. Which were pretty good so Im not so crazy about they making a remake.. Beside that no one can play Lisbeth Salander like Naomi Rapace did.
@gleymmerei I completely agree with you, however I will still watch this, partially to see how bad they fucked it up, and partially because of Danial Craig.

People who are so loyal to the Swedish version remind me of Twilight fans. They forget about the books and fall in love with an unfaithful movie adaptation and will defend it to the death. It wasn't good. They weren't Larson's characters.

A trailer shouldn't be so long
kwanlifu 5 months ago
This is sooo long. Might aswell post the full movie on here. And besides... The original one will be better.

I really wish the American producers would stop remaking foreign films cause they ruin it everytime they do and I am American, do they not have nothing better to do, well the again they havn't had any descent movies made in along time all this twilight garbage is taking over, and the rest of they're movies suck they couldnt even make Capt America good jeeze weez
malakalili 5 months ago
@malakalili i disagree. Captain america was fine. Nothing great. American remakes arent always bad. Look at insomnia. The U.S version is much better than the original norweigan movie (which was pretty good as well.) I think your just generalising. But i cant blame you the track isnt good. For every good or decent remake we have many bad ones. I think the ration is100:1 (Bad:Good)

@malakalili ...that's one hell of a point, well what is the last American-Made film that met your standards?

@malakalili with your grammer I would have guessed that you had only been in america for a couple of years.

I can't wait for this movie, looks dead on from the book. I find the other movie to be a bit overrated.

If you just watched the whole movie in the trailer then why the fuck do you still go see it or rent it.
airgear87 5 months ago
@airgear87 well they kind of did show the whole story in the trailer. They only left out the twist.
JoshBHC 5 months ago
@JoshBHC All right so assuming you did not see the original explain to me the entire 2 hour + plot relying only on the 3:47 trailer you just watched.

Wow, trailermakers really took that whole, 'people enjoy things more when they're spoiled' study to heart.

There is a difference between swedish version and american version: those were made for TV.

Okay tbh it does look good, but unnecessary... leave Swedish cinema alone, America..

This is the longest trailer in the history of trailers
slasherpool 5 months ago
The original Swedish title was 'Men Who Hate Women' also known as 'Män som hatar kvinnor.' I believe Daniel Craig's best film was either Layer Cake or The Road to Perdition.

I dont rly get the reason why they are making this film. Of course if Fincher wants to make his own adaptation I guess its okay, but the original film was so awesome, and rly any1 who havent seen it and are about to see this, GO AND SEE THE ORIGINAL.

This is a remake of the swedish ones. Which were pretty good so Im not so crazy about they making a remake.. Beside that no one can play Lisbeth Salander like Naomi Rapace did.
gleymmerei 5 months ago
@gleymmerei I completely agree with you, however I will still watch this, partially to see how bad they fucked it up, and partially because of Danial Craig.
