hey Jonathan thanks for the vid...wondering if this remote works when stuffed in a pocket ...out of direct view from unti on camera...i want to take pics remotely but not with the remote in view as I ride on a bike
Thanks for a great video. What I still don't understand is if I can use the remote I have from my old G6 with the G11, or if I should go with a third-party kit like this one?
Burst shooing, bracketed exposure, etc... is all supported. From what I've done so far, I don't think it does anything different than the actual shutter button. And yeah, it works from a long distance and works through walls. That's the benefit of RF instead of IR.
So yeah, you have a nice set there, that $20 can really help, i cant wait to get a wireless remote, then at family parties, people would be like "oh ill stand and take the picture for youguys." then i could just whip out my handy dandy wireless remote and say "oh no, i have this bad boy right here." xD
Haha, this is definitely one of the most useful things about it. Also, for long exposure shots, you can have no camera shake you when you take the picture.
G11 also has dual face recognition linked to the self-timer. So you can have it focus on one person, and then it doesn't take the picture until the 2nd person is in the picture.
Thanks Joseph. I checked on Amazon and the cheapest one that I could find is about twice as expensive. There is one for $20, but it doesn't have a receiver; it requires that the camera have it built in.
Yeah, i looked a bit more into it, it turns out even those are ripoffs too, i mean, you have to point it at the camera and it only works from what, 16 feet away. This is a wayyyyy better deal, you don't have to point this at the camera, right? Oh also, does this have burst shooting supported?
You can get an official canon one for the same price on amazon. But anyway, it really doesnt even matter, if it's a wireless remote that works, that's all that matters. But yeah, nice camera, I recently got bored today, looked up really good canon point and shoots because i got bored of looking at dslr's and i really noticed the g11. Looked like a really nice camera.

is there a shutter lock for the bulb mode?

@kennethFOB
Not that I'm aware of. You should look into it, though, because I'm not entirely sure.

@jonathanlong724
there is no bulb mode on the G11, but you can use CHDK to get longer exposures up to 5 mins i think it is.

Good review, thanks.
Sorry if I missed it, but can you indicate which model this is for the G11?
I have found the JJC website, but cannot pin down the model of this unit, thanks.

Wow, Who cares about the logo slapped on it, how about quality and reasonableness.
