  • 5 seconds the HDD sounds like a sprinkler

  • that was the first thing what came up my mind hahahaahahaa

  • so thats what r2 d2s vocal cords are

  • rd d2, hey why produce that sounds? jajaja

  • HOme cinema

  • nice bend

  • thats a really funny idea. Nice trick of ripping out r2d2's voice box.

  • i am SO gonna do this AHAHAHHA perfect

  • thank! haha is funny when i heard again...^^lol

  • hey!! how u do that??

  • ^^/

    haha

  • its like a retarded DJ

  • R2D2, is that you?

  • Funny ROFL

  • Very !

  • COOL

  • Cool! To think I have one of those disks just waiting to be used, possibly even for circuit bending. Thanks for the inspiration.

  • Awesome!

  • the hard drive's disk doesn't seem to be moving. fake?

  • The sound is reproduced from resonance in the read heads voice coil, the spinning platter doesn't produce the sound

  • Anything can produce sound if it has a magnet and a coil in it, electric motors can even produce quality sound with alot of bass ;)

The actuator arm is powered by the occilation, not resonance

even the actuator arm can produce alot of clear bass, but out-volumed by the treble

  • What? It's "Oscillation". How can the bass be clear if it's out-volumed? And there are motors where the spinny bit in the middle is suspended by changing magnetic fields, so there is no friction, and no sound, thus proving your statement a bit rubbish.

  • There's always an electronic current going through a motors electromagnetic coils else there would be a 1/20 chance of it not start spinning (without help).

because the electronic current from a stereo (or other) the polarity of the electronic changes too quickly to start a motor to revolve perfectly, unless theres a constant polarity with enough voltage.

    The bass is there nontheless.

I urge you to try it.

  • I think you need to learn more about AC motors, how to form a sentence, and then come back!

  • Wat did you use to make those sounds tho,, I know the hard drive was producing them but was that an actual music file on your PC or CD player? and wat was it?

  • Cool

  • damn that was awesome, musical hard drives do exist!

  • nice!
