I'm really not knowledgeable about salvia, but I don't think there are permanent side effects apart from HPPD (google it), which you won't necesarilly develop. Now, I have HPPD from LSD trips and for me it has been TERRIBLE. I don't do LSD anymore. Yet, LSD and all psychedelics should be legal, studied, and everyone should make at least one very good trip and one very bad trip during their life time.
Now, my personal opinion is you should DEFINETELY stop when you experience uncomfortable HPPD symptoms (anxiety, depression specially) or start developing a tendency towards bad trips. I didn't. ((Specially because nobody more experienced was there to warn me.) So now I suffer the consequences.

I don't know anything about salvia, but LSD made me massively depressed for a couple weeks.
but then I had a "waking up" moment. I stopped doing all drugs, realizing one trip gave me plenty of perspective, and my behavior's massively improving. I'm a teenage kid who's been a bit of trouble ( haha ), and not for a year now.
honestly, LSD set me free.

My condolences, but whatever triggered that boys death ran deeper then a drug trip. It is comforting to explain away a very painful event by focusing your rage on a single scapegoat factor, in this case Salvia. However, life is never so simple. Salvia may have been a trigger, but other emotional and psychological factors must have been involved beforehand.

I'm really not knowledgeable about salvia, but I don't think there are permanent side effects apart from HPPD (google it), which you won't necesarilly develop. Now, I have HPPD from LSD trips and for me it has been TERRIBLE. I don't do LSD anymore. Yet, LSD and all psychedelics should be legal, studied, and everyone should make at least one very good trip and one very bad trip during their life time.

i doubt he killed himself while triping balls off salvia. it was a decision he had come to while in a sober state of mind. the salvia didn't give him his depression. he had been depressed for years. somthing in his past really fucked him up for him to have trips like that. i'm sure he loved salvia, just happened to hate the living state of existance and come to the conclusion that life is pointless because of something bad that had happened in his life

Yet another opinion laden American news broadcast. No research cited and few facts. To anyone who hasn't done salvia don't let this turn you off salvia. Tried it once and it was an amazing and totally harmless experience. But thats just my opinion:)
