The network is scared that it will become to "gayish" & 2 straight so they are playing it really really safe. I hate it 2 Callie could have hugged her and shown affection through out the EP.We all know that lesbians in TV shows wont fly.There have been gay men in TV series & shows.Gay men are safe and funny(sorry).There has not been a real "drama" show with gay men or lesbians in network TV.(That lasted) The only show that had drama and Lesbians in it was canned so.(S.O.N) I hope they do better.

I know I will upset folks here, but let's be honest: the Calzona story is lovely, but it seriously LACKS basic intimacy that you see in every day life and movies, correct? If you watch this episode again (the full ep. I mean, do you count how many opportunities there were for intimacy i.e. a simple hug or a tender kiss? Against that background, I find the story too safe and actually I think those of us that love these storylines are now settling for far less. Has Otalia lowered the bar for us?

i dont think it's so much that they lack intimacy because of the writing or because they aren't doing a good job acting or anything. You can't really blame the show. it's more so that networks don't allow much lesbian or gay content. It's really closeminded and idiotic that they think this way, but in no way should the show itself be blamed

it's mainly because it's not cable...i mean it's ok to show gay people on tv in new york or california but it's not that ok in utah...see what I mean? They can't take it too far because some people (or even states) might get offended by it...(a hug would've been nice and appropriate if they were just friends like meredith and christina..but since they're a lesbian couple it might offend some people...) it's stupid and retrograde but what can we do!?

Totally agree. However, how come the show that came on at 8pm family hour primetime tv BEFORE GA shown more lesbian action and sexually charged dialogue in one episode than this episode combined?! And it's airing on the SAME network too. It's weird.

But I do agree it's network tv, not cable, they are bound to be more conservative no matter what.
