To me, this was about the people who died or lost love ones on 9/11. Mothers, Fathers, brothers, sisters, friends, husbands, wives, and most of all, Americans. We should never forget,it's not about Bush, but the people. If you don't like our symbol of freedom and the flag, let me know how I can get you to somewhere you will be happy. We don't need you here.
When I see this kind of ultra-patriotic imagery in this context, I am reminded not of the tragedy of the attack itself, but rather the way the attack has been taken advantage of by our political leadership over the past 6 years while hiding behind exactly this kind of imagery. What they have done in the name of the victims I consider more tragic than the attack.
So while it was not intended to evoke any laughter, it was making fun of the image, which I happen to think looks pretty cool. I in no way intended to ridicule or belittle the attack itself. If thats how it looked, I apologize.
I'll always remember how the Republican party took the unity that the whole nation had that moment and turned it to dust. I remember how they told the dems that they wanted to coddle terrorists and try to understand them. I remember how they shut out the democratic party from any decision making in the battle of our lifetime. Meanwhile calling anyone whose not lockstep with them traitors. Sigh yes I will always remember.
I will remember how the Repulicans wanted to go after the terrorists and the Democrats said "We need to look at our foreign policy and ask ourselves what did we do to make these people commit these terrible acts". I will always remember how the democrats wanted to stop every piece of legislation that protected our country.
On September, 11th of 1973, over three thousand people died and disappeared when the US supported Dictator Augusto Pinochet's Brutal Coup of Chile's Democratically Elected President Salvador Allende.
Pinochet's Dictatorship caused nothing but years of pain & suffering for the people of Chile. And despite widespread Brutality and Torture, U.S. continued its military support of Pinochet.
"U.S. support for Dictators has been legendary. Things that we did abroad are kept entirely secret from Americans, so when retaliation comes they have no ability to put into context the cause and effect. Why do they hate us? You might well have wanted to ask, who is it on earth that doesn't hate us for good reason." -Chalmers Johnson. The Sorrows of Empire
... I'm Canadian but every September 11th, I take a moment of silence for our brothers from other mothers. Osama and all of his fucktards should be dead.
I have already forgotton. If you try and remember every major event then you will have to remember millions of happenings: Cold war, World war 1, World war 2, Iraqi freedom, The battle in Vietnam, the tsunami , etc, etc

You might tell me to forget, and if I were out of my right mind I would try, but I would fail. Knowing about something as tragic as this event happening in my lifetime will cause me to never be able to forget. Even if I were to try. However, I won't try to forget, because too many were lost to simply throw the thought aside and say "Well, it wasn't me." It's unfortunate there are Americans who think that way, but its simply inevitable.
You'd remember if you were one of the family members who received a phone call from one of the passengers on one of those planes. You'd not only remember, you'd hear the voice of your loved one speaking their last words... echoing, echoing.... Think, Feel, LOVE
I agree Dorothy. The issue for me has nothing to do with the criticality of remembering that terrible day. I did not have relatives die, but friends, yes. And no, I was not on a cell phone as it happened. That's unbearable. The issue is - when you place yourself in that remembering moment, does your mind show you a militaristic eagle -- or the face of someone you love? that is my entire issue. thank you
I think I mentioned before, that in my opinion Zipster wasn't trying to offend anyone or cause controversy by the militaristic eagle. I just think he, out of his natural kindness and respect for others, wanted those who wanted to,to share a moment of silence, in memoriam.
Just finished watching a documentary on the effects of the toxic smoke from the collapsed buildings. Policemen and firemen who worked on the scene are unfortunately still dying from it. :(
I saw that too, I can't believe the city wasn't evacuated and those who would have been assigned to keep guard been supplied with state of the art gas masks. Not only are police and firefighters dying but residents of all ages are coming down with all sorts of symptoms related to toxic air exposure. I think the powers that be wanted the world to think the US is so mighty that we could bounce back, no problem. At the expence of more human suffering 8'(
It's so sad. The EPA claimed it was safe so people just kept on breathing it in and using these ineffective paper masks. The stuff was everywhere, even in nearby offices and residences whose windows were blown or left open at the time. :(

One thing, as an American, I *don't* need is some fierce eagle with an American flag burnished into it as a reminder of the horrific losses on that day. I don't need any reminders that convey this date in terms of American symbolic terms. The people who sustained the unforgettable losses are the family members and friends of those who perished. THEY don't need an eagle reminding them either. (2)
(2) ... If the message is "GET the assholes who did this", then I for one would like to see the US Govt honor its pledge made on Sept 12 2001 to track down OBL and get him dead or alive. What we got instead was a 6 year diversion completely unrelated, which cost as many American lives as lost on that tragic day. And a complete abandonment of going after OBL. Don't anybody try to tap into the sacredness of 9/11 to suggest we, America, are on the warpath for justice -- (3)
(3) because that train left the station in March 2003 - and it never came back. So spare me your eagles. I find a disgusting and Walmart commemorative-coin kind of way to commemorate the people who were innocent victims of an outrageous act of terrorism.
I agree with you on the political points you make, someone is trying to pull the wool over our eyes as far as the OSB thing. I also chuckled (silently) at your 'Walmart commemorative-coin' statement. But I do think Zipster, through his kindheartedness meant only to express his sympathies in memorium to that tragic, unforgettable day and to allow those of us who care to, to share a moment of silence.

i was in hopes one of the guys i was subscribed to would make one of these you are the only one zip and i would of expected a much grander thing from you but it was short and to the point.
Gender, race, religion- it didn't matter. Strangers were picking up the stranded in Jersey City and driving them 80 miles home. Anyone with a skill was tring to get into NYC to try to help. Firemen from as far away as Delaware and Massachusettes and further were heading into the city not knowing if they'd ever go home again.
I consider NYC to be MY HOLY CITY and what happened there was so despicable and so cowardly it is matched only by the religious perverts who killed those at the Pentagon and Flight 93. BUT! When these events took place, YOU SAW AMERICA AT ITS BEST.
Hey, Yeah, you were on I Caught tonight. I'll never forget 9/11, I was in the 8th Grade watchin' it all happen on tv in gym class. I don't know how I still remember that....You Know, you could of did somethin' with this video to help with your campaign for prez, you would've got a boost in your ratings
A nice moment of silence Terry. My Mom used to tell me how, when Kennedy was shot, everyone remembered where they were and what they were doing, when they heard the news. I never quite understood what she meant, until 9/11.
(cont) My clock radio went off, and I woke up to the sound of the DJ saying,"A plane has just crashed into the Pentagon." I sprang out of bed and turned on the news, thinking it couldn't be real. I screamed, when I saw the planes hit. I was pregnant, and the shock almost made me faint. I dropped to the floor and sobbed. When I saw people jumping, I went to the bathroom an was ill. My heart broke that day. I will never forget. My children will know this story well.
Yes I also hope that we never forget. Always in my prayers and thoughts. May god be watching over everyone that was involved and friends and family of all. Peace everyone.
I would have thought the conspiracies would have gone by now. Who needs conspiracies when the facts on the matter are much more damning of the administration ? The blatant incompetence is overwhelming - The CIA report they ignored, the unilateral warmongering, the failure with Katrina, the bypassing of your constitution with paranoia...
Just too many self involved, egotistical people who have led cloistered & isolated lives & have no feeling for the loss that day. They want to spin fantasies. Also, it's easy to overlook the problems we did and do have in the care of our citizens. The US has become far too restrictive as far as I'm concerned. I don't mind vigilance but the mindless restrictions on air travel are absurd & laughable.
ATTN: Somehow I believe that my reply of 'AMEN!' was placed under the wrong comment. I specifically can not recall reading the comment under which it appears. I believe it should be under the comment from canucktunes re: blatant incompetence of the administration. I apologize if my reply was misconstrued.
I can't believe how passive a lot of people get about this day now that some time has passed. I'm still just as pissed as the day it happened. Go back and watch the news footage.REMEMBER !! and pray to God that something like this will never happen again. If it does ,kiss most of the middle east good bye. buttons will be pushed. Mark my word
I don't blame you for being mad. Being a cop myself the ones that lost their lives were like family to me. So yeah I am also still going to be pissed, but lets not forget our pride and who came out of top. It made us stronger. Peace! The Eagle is pissed off!
Ah, the old killing a fly with a bazooka bit. And who would push that button ? The same people that let it happen ? The CIA had intelligence predicting this and it was ignored while "bad intelligence" was acted upon to go after Iraq. If Bush had not diverted manpower from Afghanistan, it would have been addressed by now.
ppl in america sy never forget you remember seeing all those falgs on ppls houses well 2 years later you dont see a single flag on someones house in the same neighborhoods ppl just feel bad about it for awhile and want to show off there support but when its not popular anymore they dont give a shit and thats america for you
I hate to sound like the bad guy, but how many people younger than 50 years old feel bad about the bombing of Pearl Harbor? We all feel the same way about 9/11, but will that feeling last with the next generation?
I just visited Peal Harbor. Oil still leaks from the ships. The answer is YES. the feeling will be passed on but it's up to this generation to teach the history
And before Pearl Harbor, The Maine & The Alamo. Each has been a rallying cry & in times past, at least, and one of unification. I'm afraid that many Americans have lost the idea of unification & that concerns me more than the loss on 911.
I remember there was a very short period of unification shortly after 9/11. Everybody I saw was just a little nicer to everyone around them. Of course, that only lasted for a few months, until 9/11/02. What's the point of changing your ways after an event like 9/11 if the change only lasts a few months? Either work towards unification or don't change at all.
What happened was bad enough but now the familys of the heros and rescuers recovery crews and clean up crews now get to watch their loved ones die slow deaths from all kinds of exposure at the site.
This is a message to all of my brothers and sisters who died valiantly in trying to save lives in the WTC The FDNY and the NYPD You will not be forgotten. You will have a special place in our hearts forever.
I'll never forget and I'm still pissed as hell. Phones were dead and no one could call each other to see if they were safe. What a fucked up day to say the least. One of the saddest days of my life Thanks for posting ZIP
oman i couldn't remember that day that well i was still in 1st grade and when i came home i saw my mom watching the news and crying, but i didn't rlly notice how tragic it was untill i got old enough to think about things more
No words can describe what happened on that tragic day, and no words can describe what most of us would do to the bastartds that did this. but like you said zip, which is the most important. ALWAYS REMEMBER
Always remember religion can be manipulated into making 19 people kill themselves and 3000 other people... I hate this day. I live in NYC, I can't ever forget. I wish it never happened, there's just too many people to blame for this happening. I'm grateful for all the people that helped out that day, but some of them that died or are sick, their lives and everyone else's could have been spared.
Lest we forget the tragedy of that day and all those that passed. We will not forget our loved ones and we will not forget the ones that saved lives. Peace and love to all those that lost loved ones and praise FDNY and NYPD. Thankyou
Then believe that he or she fought, knowing that there was no chance of living; only possibly saving others. There were some real heroes on that plane that day.
Lets not forget how this tragic event has been used to devide the nation with fear, Justify a senseless war and comprimise our civil liberies and constitution
andyphotox you are so right!!!! Democracy is being compromised by fear! Real or otherwise! This is happening here in the UK. We seem to have a socialist fascist government here!
And we all know why some people are so willing to give up their rights - Because they think they're beyond scrutiny because they aren't from the middle east. Well, if a woman can be arrested by homeland security for bearing her breasts in protest then we know they aren't limited to matters dealing with terrorists.
Yeah, Canadians & Mexicans, & Brits & Japanese & French.
This was more than a tragedy for the US & I know that I've left out many other nationalities. Sometimes we forget that part & that too should never be forgotten.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
well, we don't have to make such a big deal out of it by blocking all of our media (not just TV) with stuff we've heard a billion times! Why do we want to remember such a horrible thing? Oh, don't compare the holocaust to this. A butt load of people died back then, compared to the 9/11 attack.
i was at school when it happened, it happened about 50 blocks away from me. It was scary, and i was 6 at the time. Sure it was horible, but why does everyone want to remember it. Never forget it. If it was horrible, why does one always want to remember it?
Many people need reminders of problems, so they can appreciate what they have, as well as not do the same bad thing. As for 9/11, for many people it was a wake up call, that life is real and we must live it to the fullest. many people that forget about sad and problem times end up going back to a careless life and for get how beautiful life is.
lzakrice, it's not that people want to remember the horror, it's so that we will not forget that this is a possibility in "safe" America & try to find a way to prevent this from happening to future generations. mc
I thought I saw enough of this on the History Channel! Why toucher us each year about this? I mean, we all know this was a devastating time, but enough is enough!

Consider this, they took four planes of innocent victims and those on the ground. We took two of their countries.
600997 4 years ago
Gender, race, religion- it didn't matter. Strangers were picking up the stranded in Jersey City and driving them 80 miles home. Anyone with a skill was tring to get into NYC to try to help. Firemen from as far away as Delaware and Massachusettes and further were heading into the city not knowing if they'd ever go home again.
600997 4 years ago
I consider NYC to be MY HOLY CITY and what happened there was so despicable and so cowardly it is matched only by the religious perverts who killed those at the Pentagon and Flight 93. BUT! When these events took place, YOU SAW AMERICA AT ITS BEST.

Saw American at it's best? I dread to see it at it's worst then...

A nice moment of silence Terry. My Mom used to tell me how, when Kennedy was shot, everyone remembered where they were and what they were doing, when they heard the news. I never quite understood what she meant, until 9/11.
no1funkydiva 4 years ago
(cont) My clock radio went off, and I woke up to the sound of the DJ saying,"A plane has just crashed into the Pentagon." I sprang out of bed and turned on the news, thinking it couldn't be real. I screamed, when I saw the planes hit. I was pregnant, and the shock almost made me faint. I dropped to the floor and sobbed. When I saw people jumping, I went to the bathroom an was ill. My heart broke that day. I will never forget. My children will know this story well.

Gonegoogling.- deep down, do you really think that?? You are truly a moron for believing such bullshit. what is wrong with you??
TheNewYorkTony 4 years ago

TheNewYorkTony 4 years ago
I don't blame you for being mad. Being a cop myself the ones that lost their lives were like family to me. So yeah I am also still going to be pissed, but lets not forget our pride and who came out of top. It made us stronger. Peace! The Eagle is pissed off!
Vosslar 4 years ago
Ah, the old killing a fly with a bazooka bit. And who would push that button ? The same people that let it happen ? The CIA had intelligence predicting this and it was ignored while "bad intelligence" was acted upon to go after Iraq. If Bush had not diverted manpower from Afghanistan, it would have been addressed by now.

I hate to sound like the bad guy, but how many people younger than 50 years old feel bad about the bombing of Pearl Harbor? We all feel the same way about 9/11, but will that feeling last with the next generation?
TXP9 4 years ago
I sat and watched the Towers fall with my father and thats what he said " theres your Pearl Harbor "
andyphotox 4 years ago
I just visited Peal Harbor. Oil still leaks from the ships. The answer is YES. the feeling will be passed on but it's up to this generation to teach the history
TheNewYorkTony 4 years ago
And before Pearl Harbor, The Maine & The Alamo. Each has been a rallying cry & in times past, at least, and one of unification. I'm afraid that many Americans have lost the idea of unification & that concerns me more than the loss on 911.
Dog480 4 years ago
I remember there was a very short period of unification shortly after 9/11. Everybody I saw was just a little nicer to everyone around them. Of course, that only lasted for a few months, until 9/11/02. What's the point of changing your ways after an event like 9/11 if the change only lasts a few months? Either work towards unification or don't change at all.

Let's also not forget how many lives (American and otherwise) continue to be lost daily due as result of a war that was started with a Lie. -
As of September 10 2007 ...
American and Coalition deaths in Iraq: 3774
Americans wounded in Iraq: 27,767
Iraq Body Count estimate of civilian deaths: 71,000-78,000

And we all know why some people are so willing to give up their rights - Because they think they're beyond scrutiny because they aren't from the middle east. Well, if a woman can be arrested by homeland security for bearing her breasts in protest then we know they aren't limited to matters dealing with terrorists.

well, we don't have to make such a big deal out of it by blocking all of our media (not just TV) with stuff we've heard a billion times!

Izakrice 4 years ago
Many people need reminders of problems, so they can appreciate what they have, as well as not do the same bad thing. As for 9/11, for many people it was a wake up call, that life is real and we must live it to the fullest. many people that forget about sad and problem times end up going back to a careless life and for get how beautiful life is.
azzonfu 4 years ago 2
i guess, but then how come no one is morning the day when bush was elected? That was pretty horrible
Izakrice 4 years ago
lzakrice, it's not that people want to remember the horror, it's so that we will not forget that this is a possibility in "safe" America & try to find a way to prevent this from happening to future generations. mc
