@reillyfornow sambo and judo both incorporate throwing which are similar and they both have submissions dervived from jujitsu. now if you compare hitting and throwing a ball to be equal to hooping ball into a mesh net, then you need to re evaulate your analogy.
@moelicious416 Do you know who Reilly is? I think I'll take his word on what sambo is like or not like. I have his leglock DVD. Excellent technique and well taught.
(2/2) ...forgot to say that sambo allows a lot of leglocks and leg attacks that are not even allowed in judo. so saying that it's the same thing is utterly stupid.
@laokon judo does have leglocks. sensei Mifune incorporated leglocks in judo.it wasn't until the introduction of judo into the olympics that leglocks were banned. check out judoinfo.org. all submission moves from judo dervived from jujitsu, which the founder of sambo learned. so to say the least, sambo learned leglocks from judo via jujitsu.
@moelicious416 as you said it DID have leglocks before it went olympic, as in not anymore(same for throws where you grab the legs btw).judo is a technically light version of jujutsu, both contributed to the developement of sambo(also kudo and various others) but that does not make it the same thing with different rules...At best if you said sambo is like jujutsu but with a different approach,i could make an effort to agree, but with judo,no,sorry.
@laokon Vasili Oshchepkov learned judo, became a black belt and was heavily influenced by judo. he learned his leglocks from judo, which existed in judo at the time. Vasili Oshchepkov was a judoka before sambo even existed. all submissions from amsbo are from judo.. period!
@moelicious416 You seem to be a stuck up person, you have YOUR opinion and won't accept anything else.I never said it didn't come from ANCIENT judo, but that you can't compare MODERN judo and sambo, since both had evolutions and judo is now a technically poor version of jujutsu. You were saying it's the same thing,i said i might have been the same thing.Else find me a MODERN judo dojo where they teach you leglocks and leg entries today.
@laokon leg entries are still taught because they can still be performed in randori only as counters tho not individual primary attacks as for leg locks those wer banned from judo a long time ago because of the risk to the persons knee

realistically there is no difference between judo and sambo just rules.

@moelicious416 sort of like how there is no difference between basketball and baseball... just the rules. got it.

@moelicious416 judo: throwing, and a little ground work (jujutsu has way more, most of it is illegal in judo
sambo: striking, throwing and submissions ( a lot of them ) so yeah your comment was totally wrong in the first place
Sport Sambo allows no striking, but allows almost all armlocks (unlike judo) many chockes (like judo)
Second i'd say Reilly knows what sambo and judo are, if you don't know him, search on his channel or on youtube: Reilly Bodycomb (1/2)

@laokon Bor'ba Sambo (Sport Sambo) doesn't allow chokes, only Bojevoje Sambo (Combat Sambo) does.

このDVD買いましたが冗談抜きお世辞抜きでものすごく面白かったですよ。この先生の解説ってハンパなくわかりやすいです。足関10段とかのDVDとは比べ物にならない体系的な構成です。
