I agree with your comments. I grew in Hayward, CA. I saw Y&T play at my old MT Eden High School in Hayward in the mid 70s and watched them grow playing in Hayward at Frenchy's club on Mission Blvd when they were getting started, I saw them play dozens of times watching them grow as a hard rock band in the East Bay. Eventually playing at the Old Waldorf in San Francisco...nothing but great memories from Hayward. Now I live in PA and I miss Bay Area kick ass rock!

@lukemanify YEA Stryper. They are the original christian metal band from the 80s. Their lead, Micheal Sweat is actually working with Tom Scholtz and BOSTON currently. That band was VERY highly regarded among musicians. My bubbies Jon Drenning (Crimson Glory), Ron Keel, and Kip Winger are all pals with the guys from Stryper to this day. I think they are a very high quality band that people just overlook much like Dokken.

Dave Meniketti has always been an underrated singer/songwriter/guitarist. Earthshaker, Black Tiger, In Rock We Trust...so many great albums that never got the notoriety that they deserved. I’m living out here in the East Coast now, people out here are like Y&who? I just shake my head and thank MTV for their ignorance of talent. Yea, they are ugly motherfuckers, but Y&T rocks!

Dave never wastes a note !!! Y&T sounds as good today as ever. I am probably biased but it's a shame that much of "mainsream" rock doesn't come close to this. Kids pick up a guitar today and want to learn power chords and drop tuning. Bands like Y&T, VH, Dio, Maiden, Priest, Scorps etc really influenced so many great musicians and continue to do so..

For all their dedication and the great music they've made in a career that will span 40 years as of 2012, these guys deserve much more recognition than they've received. Their Power Ballads like "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" are some of the best "makeout music" songs ever written. Single again at 45, I've made a three-disc compilation for my CD changer to play on the wall-mounted speakers in the bedroom on "hot date" nights and I'm sure at least 2/3 of the songs on those discs are by Y & T.

Been fortunate enough to see them a few times in three diffrent decades and they always put on an excellent show weather they are playing for 100 people or an arena. they havent lost a step.
I am a recent cancer survivor myself and I cant tell you how sad it makes me that Phill lost his battle. He will be missed!
At first I wasn't too sure what to think. But after hearing Dave's solo and letting the song play I figure that Y&T is still an ass kicking band. The sound of the band has changed but I guess that is good thing.

Saw Y&T two nights ago...fantastic...ya'all gotta seem them live! Still as great sas they were when I saw them in the early 80's. Dave is stil burning up the fretboard! Great show guys, and this song sounds even better live!! Best wishes to Phil!!
