I own a zippo blu,...do not buy this piece of crap, it is a waste of good metal and plastic. I could go into all the problems I have with it but I will just say that one day one of these things will blow someones hand off. When you first get it out of the box it works alright,...but it wont be long before you will agree,..zippo blu sux.
The zippo blu is an awesome lighter but the price makes it not worth it. You can get a z-plus butane insert for i think around $15 on amazon and it's pretty much the same thing
I've had one of these for about 3 yrs now. it always took many tries to light it. non of my friends could get it to light. bought new fluid and flints and nothing changed (both zippo products). And ended up stop using it for awhile cause i thought butane and flint is just a bad combination and it's never going to reliable. randomly found it few days ago went to get new flint, store didnt have zippo brand so i got a different brand recommneded by owner. Wow! now it just works fine on one flick!
Anyone know if the ones on eBay are like factory overruns or something from Zippo? I bought a normal Zippo lighter off eBay and there are a few minor cosmetic issues, much like the ones you described in this video. It could be that this is one that failed Zippo's QC for cosmetic stuff, but still worked just fine. It wouldn't surprise me, and I'd be fine buying factory overruns, I'd just like to be made aware that they are overruns. Anyone know anything about this?
That torx screw on the bottom is just security version of the torx. You can get the tools to remove them on Amazon. They look just like the normal ones, they just have a dimple on the ends.
I dont like butane lighters the reason being is I smoke cigars and if you use butane you can taste the butane through the cigar so I use the original zippo's
I understand your concern about the pricing but it's much more modern than the traditional zippo lighter, and it is constructed in a more sophisticated fashion. It is a cigar lover's dream come true as the flame is concentrated making it ideal for cigar lighting.
I've ordered a Shure SM58 microphone on ebay, it looked real with all the documentation, box, manuals, warranty cards, carrying case with the engraved Shure logo, literally perfect copy - it didn't till it broke and I took it to an AV shop to be looked at they took it apart and it was all cheap, crappy components inside. It is very possible this lighter is a fake if it was cheaper than official resellers.
hello i am a up and coming vlogger i do vlogs almost daily and i believe they are pretty entertaining so check them out and if you like them subscribe i will also be having gam plays and mine craft videos uploaded
@MartyInLa I prefer cheap chinese butane lighters. I get mine from dealextreme. I find the cheaper lighters with a lot of reviews and buy 2 or 3 because they sometimes break. it takes about 2 weeks for the items to arrive at my house in illinois because they are shipped from china so if you are impatient then go somewhere else. its a slow but reliable company.
@cutlerylover i dunno it apears to me that the second time when you went to have a go lighting it that it lit easier because you held down the wheel for a bit before you started it
You got a defected on. Mine works perfectly fine. It lights up on the first try, and the flame is high. Also the lid is perfect, and sits very well. There was no "break in period" needed. I like the idea of an adjustable flame, but it's perfect. Sorry to hear you weren't lucky man.
a quick tip on avoiding the multiple light attempts - don't understand it, but when mine does that for one or two failed light attempts, if i shake it once, a quick flip, it lights on the next attempt. FWIW
@11chrls918 what the fuck is up your faggot ass you little fuckin bitch. hes making informational videos to help people who own zippos and you come in here with a tiny cock and spew utter fuckin retarted bullshit. just shut the fuck up and lick that black chili ring you love you fuckin faggot ass bitch. cutlery, you dont have to even respond to a dumb fuck like this. such little bitch babies. keep on informing, many people need to know how to replace the flint, wick or the fuel. payce.
hey man when i go to light mine it just looks like a normal flame and i bled it of everything refilled it and it still isn't a jet flame any suggestions?
Had plenty of 'jet flame' lighters, and just recently i have read instruction for one of them, apparently you need to remove air from the system after filling them? How why and why would air be in the system i do not know.
But I hate 'jet' lighters, sticking with my Classic Zippo :)
@cutlerylover talking about the heat factor, I imagine because I have used multiple torches that as well as those i have used you can get steel hot enough to where it is cherry red and extremely malleable. i have used this method with tools that I need to hammer straight, which is way easier than just hammering away.
Hi I've just purchased one of these and mine lights every time well 9 out of ten at least. But I do have a problem with the lighter continuing to flame after button release, maybe because it's new. Thanks.
he isnt lighting it right it is much more reliable than how it is shown in this video if you old the spark thing down for a sec then spark it, it should work every time
The stupidity of some people is astounding. Cigars date back to the 1400's but butane dates back to only the 1950's, so how can butane be the "proper" way to light a cigar when cigars outdate it by 450 years?
Original zippos are great, but The BLU are much better for cigars where that lighter fluid taste can taint the quality tobacco. Also The high temperature from the torch lighters are much better for getting an even light on a good cigar. Especially outdoors..
Yes! I also smoke cigars, and had the same problem. A friend recommended the blu to me, and it makes all the difference! Absolutely designed with cigars in mind.
these are reliable. i have one. you need to hold the flint-wheel down for a second or two to release some gas so when you strike it, the sparks have something to catch on. i hope this helps
KGM Vector, cheaper, and a MUCH better lighter, than ANY zippo. Comes in different styles, even one that looks like a zippo. Also, the butane insert will fit right into a zippo case, AND you don't need to hold down the button. Get it on Amazon. insert under 10.00
If it does not light every time - then it's NOT a ZIppo - know what I mean - the Old Petrol fule zippo is MUCH MUCH Better - that one even sounds cheap and tinny.. not for me my friend - I will stick to the good old Original ZIPPO
Wow a $50 lighter that is 9% reliable! I bought jet lighter from K-mart for 5 bucks that lights the first time, every time. Also doubles as an LED flashlight, haha
Eh I will stick to my old school Zippo. I would rather soak fluid in the insert any day over trying to force out that pressurized butane. Don't get me wrong nothing looks quite as awesome as those jets but refilling those lighters is a freakin migraine.
i went to walmart and bought some ronson jet lighter, it cost me $3, lights every time and is quite reliable. would suggest buying one over a $60 lighter
Nice video...& very informative...the Zippo i like the most is one with SATIN CHROME finish...Zippo blu isnt a good lighter,& i hope these people will stop putting its advertisement in regular Zippo case...

this lighter sucks! i loved it for 3 weaks until it stoped working.
the flame isnt jet anymore, its just like a regular flame. it was expenive as hell and worked for 3 weaks. i am super dissapointed! and the fact that you cant take the insert of also sucks. maybe i can fix it my self but im not sure, i dont want to take the insert of and then wont be able to do anything.
i bough a Star lighter with jet flame for like 5 dollars, it worked better for around 6 mounth. do not buy this lighter!
I had a lot of flame size inconsistency when I first got my Blu (Date code A 08). The lighter would put out a short flame some of the time and a really tall one at other times. I complained and sent it to Zippo and they replaced my insert with a new one (insert date code C 11). This made it a usable and even great lighter. Now the flame is always the same height and it is very consistent. I heard that Zippo revised the insert somewhere around 2010-2011. This I think is a big improvement
Im getting a zippo blu.. but where I live, the butane cans is priced 50 dollars for one single can (40 dollars for shipping WITHIN the country, ROFL!)... fucking retarded :)
i wanna get one ,i smoke cigars and love zippos but cant use them for cigar lighting because of the fluid it uses but the zippo blue uses a butane type for fuel ,or am i wrong ?
if you cant take the insert out, how do you replace the flint when the time comes? i know you've had this for a few years and i remember thinking this when you put this vid up, but i forgot to ask

If you like the good old zippo stay with it.
If you use poor butane on a jetflame lighter it will not work porperly.

oh and light it faster, then it will function better.

@NoMutantAllowed
how can a gasoline fueled lighter the right way?
the right way is how the smoker prefers to light his cigar.
some take a match to ignite a piece of burning balsawood to light a cigar. this is the "correct" way.
A butane lighter filled with refined gas is a good way to light a cigar.
humans date back to the stome age, how is a car the proper way of transportation???

The original wick lighters are better. These lighters are for pussies

this lighter sucks! i loved it for 3 weaks until it stoped working.
the flame isnt jet anymore, its just like a regular flame. it was expenive as hell and worked for 3 weaks. i am super dissapointed! and the fact that you cant take the insert of also sucks. maybe i can fix it my self but im not sure, i dont want to take the insert of and then wont be able to do anything.
i bough a Star lighter with jet flame for like 5 dollars, it worked better for around 6 mounth. do not buy this lighter!

my father has an engraved zippo in a stand, that he got from my sister when she was like 6, she's 19 now, and it works perfectly. Zippo ftw!

I bought one in store, much like Wallmart or whatever, 15 bucks, it looks like a gold bar, and the flame is blue :D

This I think is a big improvement

is it true that the fuel runs out relatively faster than a standard zippo?
cuz i have a choice to make, want to get my best friend a nice lighter for his bday. was gna go with a matte regular zippo.

Im getting a zippo blu.. but where I live, the butane cans is priced 50 dollars for one single can (40 dollars for shipping WITHIN the country, ROFL!)... fucking retarded :)

BLU = fail.
Regular Zippo + Thunderbird insert (torch or the soft flame version) or a Z Plus are infinitely better.

if you cant take the insert out, how do you replace the flint when the time comes? i know you've had this for a few years and i remember thinking this when you put this vid up, but i forgot to ask

@joob13
The flint and striker are in a separate tube that you can take out.
