Having JON ANDERSON of YES sing this song is a major upgrade over Dylan...Bob Dylan is a legend (deservedly so) and is a great writer, performer and singer (all three areas)...probably the greatest of all time...BUT...JA is THE GREATEST ROCK VOCALIST of all time...who has sang unbelieveably complex songs...and never received the credit due him for his great and unigue talent... Don't believe me...let's see Dylan try singing "Close to the Edge". YES/JA should be in the RHOF!!!!
I thought I was gonna be disheartened by the covers of this song. But they are all actually good so now I am just in awe. And thinking of my sad eyed lady, wherever she is, How can we write songs for these people when the words we want to say have already been said by Dylan?
What the .... have those photos to this song? Some of them are Ok but I have to say most of them are without any sense...... Song is great. What about Full Version I have it on some sort of Yes & Friends Album....
nice cover by Steve Howe & Jon Anderson...I love that they decided to try this. The original is great as well, but Steve Howe & Jon Anderson bring a cool, otherworldly feel to it. The juxtaposition of some of the images with this song is a little weird (Britney Spears?!)
Thanks for this. This is the version I know, and only just heard the Dylan original! The Yes chaps do it brilliantly. To be honest, it can make you a bit weepy. Nice pictures too. Well done!
how I hate when lyrics are simply backed with "matching" pictures. it has no imagination, or creativity at all. furthermore it does not give any extra to the song. on the contrary, it ruins the song. sorry to say....
It's an unusual interpretation, seemingly a collection of Googled images to literally display as many lyrics as possible. Interesting. It wouldn't be what I envisioned, but I appreciate the work.
No it is not from Blood On The Tracks its from Blonde On Blonde Mate! Yes it is about his wife Sara but im sure it could be sang for many other women too.
You missed what smitter meant - but it is on "Desire" where BD mentions "writing SELOTL for you" - the track was Sara. I guess BD wanted to tell everybody it was not Joan Baez, as often claimed.
Nice and sophisticated version. Awesome harmonics and I enjoy that you enjoy singing as you do. Lovely video. Very nice to listen to at 8 pm New Years Eve.I have never worked out the lyrics. Could be any one or is it someone in particular? Did Dylan do Acid? Wow, I love this song. An Anthem. Remember the sixties? Make Love Not War, Leary, Woodstock and Goa/Kathmandu? BTW, who's Britney Spears? Thank you YesMan46. Arcane and poetic. Infact, I think that I'll watch it again.
If you can work out any of jon andersons lyrics then you are blessed!!!! I don't even think the other members in the band can understand them and jon is there to explain them!!!
Never worked out the lyrics? Fancy that. Most likely neither has Bob. But I think you could say he was talking about a mystical idea of inscrutable female intelligence that was a favourite theme of his, as in Love minus Zero, She belongs to me - it's the same theme. "The thick world cannot touch you or understand you".
Did he do acid? Did you ever listen to "Chimes of Freedom"? If not, the answer is "yes".
I think you did a nice job yesman! To many people take Dylan songs to serious so don't worry about that crowd, at the end of the day this song could be aimed at alot of women world wide so on doing this video you will after take a bit of stick co's people take Dylans song to heart.Good Luck Mate!!!
yes man i don't get all that implication nonsense either i enjoyed your video, and it now has a place in my favourites keep it up. some people really ought to lighten up.
next time you might think about the implications some of your images carry. good editing is more than just linking up words with their literal visual counterparts. i mean, c'mon - putting britney spears photos in a bob dylan song (at the point when he sings "flesh") is a fucking travesty!!!
as much as i've been into yes for over 30 years, i'd never heard that before. I liked the slideshow too, don't get why anyone would get bugged out over it, I suppose we all have the right to get steamed over anything! I myself ********* Liked it,tanx
Thanks, Yes it's a nice Yes-like song. On the CD it's actualy over 12 minutes long, glad you like the slide show, took me a while to just get 4:23 seconds worth of visuals...
sorry, but this is deplorable... the edited video is just like pornography: the images illustrates clumsyly word by word. do you really think this is good?
This is an attempt to match lyrics with pictures a lot better than many videos that have no relevance to the song what so ever.
I also have racked my brains to understand how this at all relates to pornography.....the title of the song is 'Sad Eyed Lady' not sureprisingly there are plenty of ladies in it, but as far as I can see they are all respectably clad. So how is it pornographic?
The video overall not slick but it was a good attempt to make the pictures relevant to the music.
making a good film with music is difficult. certainly NEVER TO show what is just heard in the lyrics - unless you want a simple, boring and stereotypical video.
Invention, vision and creativity are required for a good one!!!
nice to meet you....im flashback...jon anderson is my all time mentor...i think he is the purest soul on earth...one of them anyway...thanks ...love all.....
This is a sad tinged song and my favorite version of this song--remember all ur dead when listening...its like a tribute

nice version, though I don't like the choirs (a bit too baroque, isn't it? Dylan's version is beautiful in its essentiality)
Robusto103 3 years ago
Bob Dylan's greatest love song; treated gently and with much respect. I was happily surprised to hear how well this was done.
Not as masterful as Dylan's version, but, very nicely done.
