I just started playing this, almost a week ago, and honestly this is my favorite MMORPG. I played SWTOR and it just wasn't that good at all. This is much better, even in its current form.
ah~~ i miss this epic opening of Final Fantasy . . . FF13 was ok... but still.. i cannot deny that Nobuo's music gives you the impression of really being part of the game
Game may not be worth paying for now but... I think it will be awesome once it is relaunched as FFXIV 2.0. At least from what I have read and stuff it seems like it will be awesome :)

Ok went through the whole playlist, I definitely ADORE it, people who say this soundtrack is inferior to FFXI are ... well I won't judge, then again it's not superior ;p It's totally different and completely uncomparable, XI gave off a more adventure oriented / Crystal Chronicles feeling, XIV gives off a more epic feeling (and of course more FF feeling) ... All in all I wish the field and small villages musics were more reminiscent of XI, (Kazham, Selbina, Mhaura, Sarutabaruta anyone?) <3
Square Enix is leaving the path of ruin the FF series with way to forced newish-rubbish improvements, cutting off everything the Fan's LOVE about it and starts returning to where it all began? Starting with getting Uematsu back for the music?

@001acidsnake well FF as a MMO isnt all that bad from my experiences of playing FF XI, the only thing i hated about it was you needed to lvl up first before you can do any of the stories, but after all that i found it was worth it, journeying with friends you make on that game also makes it worth while in my opinion. Have you tried out XI or XIV or you just dont like the fact that FF is a MMO in those and just never played?
@FinalFantasyLov3r124 Its actually much better then it use to be, but if you are looking to play it id wait until at least the PS3 release of the game. There should be hordes of improvements by then. But so far I' happy with where the games headed.
@FinalFantasyLov3r124 The PS3 and the PC will have the same updates. The games will be the same but on different systems, just like 11. So even if your on PC your game will still be on the same lvl as the PS3 version. When the PS3 version comes out the game will probably be more to everyone standards thus making it more likable. So it would be better if u got the PC version of the game when the PS3 version comes out.
2) My laptop can not play discs as it has no disc drive to play them on and is utterly rubbish
3) Playing the game online won't work either as I don't have enough money to pay and my laptop won't be able to run the game. Also I get rubbish internet connection.
Final Fantasy3 (US) opened my world up to RPGs. I stopped playing Streetfighter.The sound track to XIV is awesome. To bad Square Enix lost the vision it had with its earlier Final Fantasy games with great stories.
@Autumn6 I agree.. what a waste of man power and dedication. the other members of this group were just focusing on making money and trying to make things look cool. they totally trashed the story portion and the character development portion(in other final fantasy games mainly 12...final fantasy 13 suffers the exact opposite of 12. it has a lot of character but the story is just soooo damn plain = they're being chased.)
Nobuo Uemetsu is like a god among music. The fact that he went all out when creating final fantasy 14's soundtrack created a soundtrack that is truly breathtaking. Too bad the game's development team was not of the same caliber. Seriously the game may have been more profitable if it was just a soundtrack.

The torrent leaked versions only have 50 songs, that i have found at least, and there are 72 here ! ? ripped from alpha . It surely doesn't seem easy to find

@layfons i would much rather buy them to support the artist and have tangible albums and artwork but i dont believe SE released all of the tracks officially ? Unless i'm mistaken, they are just a handful of tracks,(battle tracks and field tracks) which i think is a complete waste of money. I mean, where's all the rest !!?? :D
The music (Uematsu FTW) is awesome, the artwork from the game (Amano FTW) is awesome, but, without Sakaguchi, the game is like crap. WE WANT THE RDREAM TEAM BACK. The rulers trio: Sakaguchi, Uematsu ann Amano!!!!!!!
I'm not too sure that you would really want that. Developing a game like Final Fantasy in 2010 takes teams of hundreds of people. Sakaguchi, Uematsu and Amano alone would not be abel to make the difference if the rest of the development team does not know what they are doing.
Let me put it to you guys plainly, Being born in '85 and playing all the Final Fantasy's except for 12 and 13, I believe that Final Fantasy is NOTHING without the music. Story's, Characters, Gameplay is important too, but square-enix needs to keep Nobuo for as long as they can, the man is a Genius. Nobuo Uematsu is synonymous with Final Fantasy.
It sounds like different Final Fantasy preludes all in one with some different instruments. I hear some of VII and XII in there with some originality in the mix. Maybe they used the other sets as a backbone when working with this one. Yeah, could be it, but still, I enjoy this one.

@paulkdragonmaster2 annoying right im playing it currently it's probably the best MMORPG released in the last few years, but most people either love or hate it if you want a challenge a gorgeous world and amazing music as well as a very helpful community it's worth the 12.99 a month.
Regardless of some of the pissy reviews, i think FFXIV is a great game, mainly because Nobuo is one of SE's major trump cards, and they called on him at the perfect time to add more depth to this game than any MMO's
This music is like.....a path.A path to the world of Final Fantasy.Its like bringing your thoughts to the world of Final Fantasy....its like..when the music ends,you blackout and when you open your eyes,you see Final Fantasy as a real life.No offense but thats how I feel.
IMHO, Nobuo Uemtasu is the ONLY composer who perfectly captures the essence of the whole franchise. He is the soul of Final Fantasy (while Sakaguchi was the heart).
@Incog2k6 I beg to differ, I think the tracks the other two composers have done, especially Kumi Tanioka, are great. I personally loved her work on the Chocobo and Chrystal Chronicles series. However, what makes Uematsu's music stand out is a combination of his knowledge in classical music and his love for rock - including hard rock, progressive rock and heavy metal. It's easy to tell, because several battle themes are quite different from other JRPG's.
@JimSalt88 Not in FFXIII. And the arrangement is different for every game. It was the last song Uematsu wrote for the first Final Fantasy, Sakaguchi came to him and told him he really needed something to play during the title screen. Uematsu wrote it in a few minutes.
hmm anyone know the song name playing when you finish the intro scenes? it starts playing when the game zooms in on your character and the lyrics start with something like "Walk free, walk free"
this game is... well lets just say I'm gonna wait until ps3 launch to review it.
They should have done it like xi, in that they release it in japan for a year (not being rude to japan, you could start in any region for a year) and polish it up, then go. I hope I'm wrong though, I hope the beta =/= release client.

I've been playing FF games since Final Fantasy I on NES, and this is my new favorite version of Prelude. The vocals and riffs on chimes and piano are haunting.

Aw, man - all these people at 9 or 7, I was 13 when I first played FF9 (still my fav FF game of them all) and became a rabid fan.
Uematsu for the win, I'm getting into Eorzea tomorrow - but of course, it HAS to release right when I'm at the busiest I'll be this semester xD

@paulkdragonmaster2 annoying right im playing it currently it's probably the best MMORPG released in the last few years, but most people either love or hate it if you want a challenge a gorgeous world and amazing music as well as a very helpful community it's worth the 12.99 a month.

Regardless of some of the pissy reviews, i think FFXIV is a great game, mainly because Nobuo is one of SE's major trump cards, and they called on him at the perfect time to add more depth to this game than any MMO's

This music is like.....a path.A path to the world of Final Fantasy.Its like bringing your thoughts to the world of Final Fantasy....its like..when the music ends,you blackout and when you open your eyes,you see Final Fantasy as a real life.No offense but thats how I feel.

IMHO, Nobuo Uemtasu is the ONLY composer who perfectly captures the essence of the whole franchise. He is the soul of Final Fantasy (while Sakaguchi was the heart).

@Incog2k6 I beg to differ, I think the tracks the other two composers have done, especially Kumi Tanioka, are great. I personally loved her work on the Chocobo and Chrystal Chronicles series. However, what makes Uematsu's music stand out is a combination of his knowledge in classical music and his love for rock - including hard rock, progressive rock and heavy metal. It's easy to tell, because several battle themes are quite different from other JRPG's.

@JimSalt88 Not in FFXIII. And the arrangement is different for every game. It was the last song Uematsu wrote for the first Final Fantasy, Sakaguchi came to him and told him he really needed something to play during the title screen. Uematsu wrote it in a few minutes.

hmm anyone know the song name playing when you finish the intro scenes? it starts playing when the game zooms in on your character and the lyrics start with something like "Walk free, walk free"

this game is... well lets just say I'm gonna wait until ps3 launch to review it.
They should have done it like xi, in that they release it in japan for a year (not being rude to japan, you could start in any region for a year) and polish it up, then go. I hope I'm wrong though, I hope the beta =/= release client.

I've been playing FF games since Final Fantasy I on NES, and this is my new favorite version of Prelude. The vocals and riffs on chimes and piano are haunting.

The thing about this prelude is, it fits SO WELL, with whatever the theme may be for Final Fantasy (medieval, fantasy, modern, etc).
