  • where is the next class video?????

  • great but only half a tutorial... where's part 2?

  • water... who left the tap open?

  • He probably didn't get it to work himself.

  • Fantastic tutorial, i cant find the part 2 of this video, any1 have the link? Also is there a 'Fog Pass' available in the default layer setting?

  • Thanks really this really helped me

  • Great! Thanks.

  • This video is great , I couldn't figure out rendering in passes until I saw this. Thanks for posting!

  • man this video makes me want to pee.

  • This is something that a lot of people may not know how to do. The audio sounds fine. I think the author would rather appreciate a thankyou. : )

  • roxongueira I would just animate the visibility for the object in the objects attributes....

  • Is there anyone who knows how to use a spotlight to make objects dissapear instead of illuminating them? What I really needed is to make objects fade away as the spotlight moves. I tried to use a surface luminance node to try that effect..I think it's possible to divide the objects into diferent render layers and then composite them taking advantage of the alpha between layers. My problem is, whenever I try to use a light connected to a transparency channel in a shader, the alpha is not showing.

  • nice video ... waiting for part 2 :)

  • wher the second part dude?

  • Hey! anyone knows how can I render objects viewed by some other camera? I'd like just to render the objects within a cone and nothing else. How can I do that?

  • when you create the new render layer only select the item that you wanna see

  • yeah! but I have one doubt! imagine I have a bottle on a table in a layer... I'd like to make the layer dissappear but leave the table...will the shadows fade too? do I have to make 2 occlusion layers? or by alpha?

  • some1 seems to be taking a piss in the backround sound :P nice vid

  • How would i go about rendering an entire video of a very simple bouncing ball, im just trying to get the hang of the very basics.

  • actually I am in need of a reflection layer and realised that it doesnt' exist in the presets.... doh

  • i don't think you posted a second video did you?

thanks for that one I found loads of tutorial on maya render layers and realised that they only appplied to maya 7

  • Well what I would suggest is to just not use layers...and render it all out in one pass then...if that's what you want. Now if your using hardware particles for the rain..I would just make the rain part a seperate scene and render it out in a scene by itself...with alpha of course. You will have to simply composite the rain over the entire other render in something like After Effects, but it won't be difficult at all.

  • Hey I'm having a huuuuge problem with maya 2008, using layers. I'm trying to render rain with maya hardware and everything else with maya software. I'm using a layer override with maya hardware. Ideally i would love to render the master layer all together and not have to composite afterwards. I don't even want to use layers... Please help!

  • Love your vids, man. Very useful. Great work.

  • that was very helpful but i carn't get my shadows to work, even on alpha. I'm sure i did everything u said, its highlighted and is the one ticked render. plz help

  • Nice Vid man. It help me a lot. :)

    Thks.
