ok first just let me say this dead or alive is one of the games that inspired me to be a 3d artist. secondly DOA has excellent graphics I can't complain their. The reason why I said it is no longer a good game is because style over substance.

they use to make a fighting game but now they are so focused on what the fans want that they do not pay attention to good game play. In my opinion they sacrificed good combat for graphics. number 3 actually took planning and practice out of space damn

I must disagree my dude. The fight mechanics of DOA4 far exceed that of any other franchise. The series offers real fluidity in motion. A combo in DOA looks like a combo, in Tekken/VF for instance the static/stuttering motions makes the fighting seem like a series of individual moves cut and pasted together... so essentially they are isolated punches & kicks sped up to seem conjoined but not actually conjoined.
