  • Much like many other people here it seems, I only came here because I heard this commercial was "offensive" and "tasteless." My god, when I die I can only prey that my best friends can re-live our best moments and memories. What IS offensive is anyone calling David Spade "tasteless" as if any of them even knew Chris Farley. Shit dude.

  • I dont want to take 'sides' in this so im just gonna leave you all with this little gem:

Fat guy in a little cooooat!

    RIP Chris

  • Ohhh right so because Chris is dead, we should clearly sweep all his awesomeness under the rug and never, ever mention him or his work again to remind all the kids of today of this genius...I'm sure that's what Chris would have wanted.

  • rip = (

  • you guys are all arguing about this...it doesnt matter..the ad is up..and its still good cuz its brought you to remember how awesome and funny chris farley was...but it is also bad because their exploiting him for money..it doesnt matter now...go watch some classic chris farley and david spade films like black sheep or tommy boy...its over..now just stop arguing

  • As much as Spade meant to do good by this commercal, and he wanted to keep Farley's memory alive....I really just think it was disrespectful. Direct Tv. didn't have Farley's memory in mind when writing it. "Fatty falls down" Created him, but also killed him. R.I.P Chris Farley

  • this disrespected chris farley without consent muther fuckers

  • @CLOVERCITYY15 It did have the consent of his family. They make any decision regarding him now.

  • Really the view of him being a "sarcastic ass" is not David but rather his charecter, dou remeber the seen when Richard gets called "a smuck unhappy little man" well he was called that because his charecter was

  • @lpf98 Exactly, in this commercial he even says, "great im here with tons of fun when i could be watching direct tv". In the movie his character calls chris "tons of fun" so to agree with your statement, he was just reprising his role for this commercial.

  • that guy in a little coat.....that guy in a little coat...man that was a great movie!! R.I.P Chris you were one of the best!

  • @kingofthemile87 In the movie and on the Direct TV commercial, Chris Farley is saying," Fat guy in little coat." Not, "That guy in little coat."

  • lol UH-OH.... at the end... :)

  • Actually towards the end they werent that good of friend because chris got all messed up and hit on one of spades girlfriends real bad.

  • 909-644-8393

  • Call me Now to get the Best of both worlds Dish Network or Direct Tv.. I'll let you compare and only offer the programing you need..

  • @baybossdabildin- Chris Farleys main contributing cause of death was artherosclerosis. Its when your artery wall thickens n blocks from build up of fat such as cholesterol n other fatty materials. He might of survived the dose of speedball he took if he wasnt already suffering from artherosclerosis.

  • @kushcaptain1234 Yeah, I remember the doctors saying after the autopsy that he was a good candidate for heart bypass surgery. So even if he didn't overdose that sad December day, he most likely would have had to deal with his heart issues soon afterwards. One of his coronary arteries was 90 percent blocked.

  • This commercial wouldnt be disrespectful if he was still alive n not dead. For his "friend" to say he would rather be watching direct tv then hanging out with probly one the funniest comedian that ever lived is pretty disrespectful n calling him "tons of funs"...... Farleys wieght was one of the main reasons of his death.

  • @kushcaptain1234 Chris Farley died of a speed ball (combination of heroine and cocaine) overdose, not because he was fat.

  • @kushcaptain1234 it's a fucking commercial not an interview

  • R.I.P Chris Farley I hope the jackass who posted the photos of his death rots in hell for that.

  • All this commercial did was remind me how funny Tommy Boy was and how funny Chris Farley still is.

  • I don't think he's, or the company is disrespecting Chris Farley. They are just putting one of his most memorable scene in a commercial. It's more of a tribute.

  • There is nothing offensive about this commercial! David and Chris were best friends, as close as brothers. David probably knew Chris better than anyone else on the planet. I don't think David would ever do anything to desecrate or harm the memory of Chris. For a brief moment, it was as if Chris was still here with us. By doing this commercial, David could introduce a whole new generation to Chris' work. Thank you David Spade and RIP Chris Farley!!

  • This was awesome to see on TV, i was glad to see chris again.

  • isnt it that scen=e were david spade is watching that girl skinnydipping in the pool

  • More Farley, less Direct TV

  • I love that in this commercial he says you can either have Direct TV or be in a room with Chris Farley, who is dancing around and being hilarious like always.

    Tough choice. Haha.

  • @katdf123 that almost hurts direct tv's case doesnt it? id rather hang with chris farely hands down

  • There's nothing wrong with this commercial. Posting pics of Farley dead on the internet.....Now THAT'S wrong! I think the commercial is fine.

  • I love how people always assume that when an actor has something to do with a friend who has passed away, they're trying to get limelight.... Can't he have his happy memories about his best friend? Or would you rather he be stuck in grief with people bringing it up all the time? Isn't he allowed to remember Chris's good times? Or do you want to forget them too? Let the memories of a man who made you happy slip away with the fact that he died years ago. Go David, I'm with you!

  • not bad

  • is it " fat guy in the little coat " because when I hear it sounds like chris farley is saying " that guy in the little coat " I'm just saying that its different from what I heard

  • @mrandymcool Its fat guy in a little coat, from Tommy Boy.

  • Nice!

  • Apparently David Spade said that he felt offended when he did this commercial because of Chris Farley's death

  • @14Hodges No, It was that he was upset because other people were offended. He loves Chris. He wouldn't have done it if he were offended.

  • fat guy little coat

  • Sacrilege.

  • @Vixen522 I find it interesting that you think David paying homage to his best friend's memory sacrilegious... Not to mention that there is nothing sacrilegious about the commercial. Even his last line about “Never gets old...” Means it's something he still finds funny, something he can look back to, to remember his good friend with happiness, rather than constantly grieving and being hounded. He doesn't need to remember that part. Let him have his happy memories.

  • david spade just sunk to a new low

  • David you whore

  • my favorite movie with David Spade and Chris Farley is "Black Sheep"...

  • :,(

  • I love this commercial its amazing how they can do that.

Rest in peace Chris Farley I will always remember you.

  • aw I thought this was sweet of David. :)

  • a lot of you guys think that this is offensive!!!!! david spade was best friends with chris farley one of chris farleys reletives said that he would have LOVED this!!!

  • exactly. as a matter of fact, the big gap in spades carreer was couse of farleys death. alot of people i know said they can tell david spades comedy is more of a depressy comedy than a happy one after farleys death. that actually was his BEST friend.

  • @GrindDevonIntoBitz yeah. especially his stand up.

  • @TheFanOfChocolate

I am sure Farley would have been in the commercial too if he were alive today.

  • its wierd how i c every1 saying its not contreversial or its a tribute wen hav yet 2 see 1 comment saying it is contreversial r.i.p. chris farley

  • I for one love this commercial and i think that chris wouldve been behind it all the way. I feel it brings back chris's wonderful sense of humor. So stop freaking out about it! Please!

  • what movie is this from?

  • Are you crazy?! Don't tell me you've never seen Tommy Boy.

  • David Spade shaved for this?

  • Is anyone complaining about the Christopher Lloyd one? cos he mentions Michael J Fox's character and he now has Parkinson's? That complaint is as stupid as saying this is disrespectful to Farley's memory. Anyone who finds this disrespectful is a moron. Chris and Spade are lucky that Tommy Boy was even considered popular enough to get a parody commerical about it, I don't think it is.

  • This video brings back so many memories. R.I.P. Tommy Boy

  • @foleyisstillgod Did the movie died?

  • it seems like right after farley died spade sterted to get fat and every one is gettting harsh on him.

  • Chris's family was 100% behind this commercial. I like it a lot. It's like Chris came back to us for a brief moment. Heck, Chris probably got a kick out of it in Heaven. Spade, Sandler, Chris Rock--all those guys miss him like crazy and love him so much. We all do.

  • right at this moment, fucking Direct tv is not working for about 30 minuts, direct tv is so bad it sucks! sorry for the languaje is that, i'm really fustrated

  • @valer123451 Dish is just as bad

  • This was taken from an iconic movie and David wrote that skit. Chris would've forgiven the ignorance in this world............................. Read "The Chris Farley Show" if u r a fan.

Great ideas often receive violent opposition from mediocre minds.

    ~Albert Einstein~

  • raise controversey to his family and friends

  • Why r people tripping?

  • @Mizvictor07 because Chris Farley is dead

  • what is the name of teh movie?

  • Tommy Boy

  • they were best friends david didnt got to chris funeral because he didnt want to see his friend in a box david has always loved chris always i this right here is great chris would have loved it think about it

  • i love how they did this

  • ssinner!

  • why did people make such a big deal about this commercial!?

  • because they aren't marketing a dead celebrity, same kind of thing with joe jackson

  • Joe dirt was funny. But he aint nothin without chris farley

  • I love this commercial.

It brings back memories with that movie and David was a very good friend to Chris so there's no way in hell he meant for this to be disrespectful.

  • theres nothing wrong with this... David Spade loves Chris Farley.. i think its great just to see him again and just sayin "never gets old".. says it all ..

  • I totally agree, hillab25. I think it's so sweet when he says, "Never gets old." Brilliant!

  • @hillab25 What's wrong with this is an untalented hack making money off a dead "friends" image. It's sick that he agreed to do this shitty commercial for a few bucks, and didn't think once about dignity. Shame on him.

  • @CrownedPeaches

oooohhhh, get that sand out of your vagina the guy's dead, it's been 15 years already GET A FUCKING GRIP!!!

it would be controversial if he had done this a week after his death, it's over a decade already you stupid fucking TWAT!!!

"ooohhh look at me, i'm so cool i talk about celebrities..."

what a prick!!! hope you fucking die...

  • @hillab25 I know. Just the way he says "never gets old" is the whole reason I love this commercial. It's very sweet.

  • @hillab25 They were best friends.

  • David spade died with the 90s, but farleys still alive to this day.

  • no he isnt, he died of a drug overdose in 1997

  • @MrDecidor

no shit, i'm saying he still lives like mufasa still lived in simba. "he lives in you"

  • actually, farley is the one that died, not spade.

  • Once again, I meant he still lives like Mufasa lived in Simba,"He lives in YOU"

  • "Never gets old". Truer words have never been spoken.

  • @avolonsaber couldn't have said it better myself.

  • I don't think this is disrespectful at all. A great tribute to his friend, and stop being judgmental towards him. Of all of Farley's friends(not family) he took his death the hardest, so he KNOWS what is respectful and what is not.

  • that scene always makes me pissed. there are plenty of people in this planet that don't have a decent sportcoat, and he just wasted one. seriously.....FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Rip the best actor in the world to live, Chris Farley.

  • I liked the commercial and I've been a Farley fan since I was three. I respect David for doing this.

  • i am wondering how do they add on the 'it's in sweet beautiful HD...' and so on..how do they do that?

  • Why did people complain about this?

I think this was a classic movie...worth the tribute.

    Lighten up, people.

  • Funny commercial...can't believe whiners made a stink over this.

I suppose the mouthy ones complaining don't watch Farley's movies anymore either because they are only funny if he's alive. Pffft. Yeah right.

  • This is one of my favorite DirecTV Ads.

  • Funny as heck. I thinks it's time to put the brakes on this "issue" society has with political correctness. I am sick to death of people complaining, "oh that's so distasteful", "so what!" I say! Get a grip you nancy's. Thanks David, R.I.P. Chris.

  • "put the brakes on" Nice. lol Farley was a brakes salesman in the movie.

  • i dont know why they made a big deal out of this. it was funny. and in taste

  • WHO

    GIVES

    A

    FUCK

  • spade was in the commerical, you can tell. i think he wanted to do this for his friend, he even said so himself

  • lol Just like all the other ads he does out of personal integrity.

  • That would kinda be ok if Chris Farley was still alive huh?

  • haha love it thats so funny i cant stop thinkin about it

  • DirecTV is much better than cable

  • i think i might actually know you....

  • @SexiiiAamber Wow, really? Haha.

  • Where's the spoof with Joker? Iv'e seen it before it's so funny

  • eh... its a little distasteful but its not that bad..

  • Not cool.

  • lol

  • Comment removed

  • Lighten up people. Farleys' brother even said he thought it was good. What, someone actor dies and its inappropriate for them to be to be seen in anything ever again? Were you prudes sending hatemail to Ford when they put Steve McQueen in a Mustang commercial a few years back? Or Forrest Gump when Gump meets JFK? You haters are a bunch of fuckin grandmas who get worked up over NOTHING!!!!

  • this isnt offensive geez give it up people, the farley family signed off on this, i think its funny maybe if it was hitler & a jew you might have a problem but its 2 great comedians so piss off.

  • DirecTV, Comcast, and Time Warner cable all suck!!!! At&t U-verse TV kicks ass

  • You're a faggot, it's not offensive at all grow a pair of fucking balls.

  • O.o You're not caring. You're just retarted.

    What's offensive about this?

  • Oh? So you prune know best?

What a whiney little bitch you are!

    "Actually caring people"? LMAO.

It effectively ruined your week? Best thing ever that happened to you! I'm glad to hear that. Hope you got so upset, you got diarrhea. Bet it was disgusting having it pour out off both ends.

  • People like YOU are serious kill joys.

  • XDD

this is funny. never saw the movie but :DDDDD

  • I love the commercial, I hate Directv

  • farley's family decided that this would be a good way to remind ppl how funny chris was, if thats not enough for the overly sensitive people then i dunno what is

  • if u dont like this commericial you are stupid.

  • I don't think it's disrespectful so much because it's in the spirit of the movie. Richard being rather annoyed at getting stuck with Tommy and nothing else to entertain him.

  • i dont understand how people could possibly be mad about this, ive seen ads for the new beatles rockband with john lennon in it...no one has complained...people need to realize that the two of them had that kind of relationship on set, so whats the big deal really?

  • Time difference. Lennon has been dead for much longer. Some just think it is too soon still.

  • yea but his own family doesn't care, his brother said that he liked it, and that the commercial was quite tasteful in doing chris liked, and that was making people laugh...

people need to lighten up in this world, thats for sure

  • Chris Farley and legacy in the same sentence? BAFarls, you gotta be kidding. It's Chis fucking Farley not Brando.

  • what's wrong with this ad? this is actually pretty funny...best direct tv ad i've seen!

  • WTF is wrong with this ad????

Wow cause hes dead they can't do this?? This is a classic!! :)

  • Come on. You don't think Farley would have done this ad if he were alive?

  • He's not alive - that's the point.

  • I'm glad to see it done tastefully thank you direct tv. RIP Chris

  • i dont find anything wrong with this

  • Great commercial. Legacy, yes, This is one of Christopher's best displays of his craft and he was good at it. Everyone wants to leave a legacy and Christopher's TV and Movie clips are his legacy. They should be respected and shared by all who loved his work. This is very tastful and should continue. Condemnation of this commercial is hurts his legacy.

  • funny as hell, i think, rip chris farley

  • farley would have loved the fact that they brought this movie into commercials.-David spade nothing wrong with this.

  • this is fine... the reaction i heard on the radio was like he was taking a piss on farley or something.

i think the spot is fine... calm the fuck down.

  • how could this even be considered offensive. can someone please explain to me

  • first of all the Yankees are the world champs. 2nd. I don't find it offensive

  • Some people find it offensive because it uses the late Chris Farley. Apparently, to some, it's 'disrespectful' to use footage in a new add from an actor who passed away. *shrug*

  • This is so wrong!

  • Spade didn't go to the funeral. Spade was nothing without Farley.

  • spade is pretty funny but he can't carry a movie without Chris

  • tributes don't benefit a persons wallet. Direct TV and David Spade are dush bags of the year.

  • this is what David got in shit for?? i see nothing wroung with it. he is remebering his frined and bringing back and reminding us about one of the funniest men ever! good work mr. spade!

  • It's a tribute. Plain and simple.

  • david spade make 3.2k off this commercial....

  • Don't see why anyone would have a problem with this. No different than people buying and selling Lennon and and Elvis.

    Cool commercial.

  • this isnt offensive it honors chris farley

    RIP

  • i dont see why ppl got so worked up about this. just helps us remember the comedic genious that was Farley

  • I remember Spade said in a interview once that Farley used to do the fat guy in a little coat thing all the time to him back in the dressing rooms at SNL. And then they decided to put it in the movie later on.

  • i felt the same way i was like wtf is he thinking but then i kinda cooled down and it was a good way of remembering him i love that movie

  • I'm happy bout this commercial, indeed... loved and love Chris to death.

If people are offended about the way David reffers to him.. cmon, thats how they talked to each other. If uve seen the interviews they both did together and footage and so on, u'd know it. They just had chemistry and were best friends.

I really find this cute. It shows how much we still think bout him :)

  • David Spade is very overrated.

  • RIP U WERE ONE OF THE BEST!

  • what's so offensive about this?

  • one of thems dead

  • @beechcraft11 that would deffinately be the fat gun in the little coat.

  • uhh thanks for the update. i know that. so what?

  • I don't see anything Wrong with the commercial. It's funny.

  • Leave David alone. He loved Chris like a brother.

  • Good god. For those of us who truly remember the days of Chris Farley, these guys were best friends. Spade would never (and didn't) do this without consulting the family first. He even said that even DirectTV went to the family first. This is a way to honor Chris' memory. I was so happy to just see the guy again! It kinda felt like for a minute he was still here...

  • Wait, so it's not okay to use an actor's footage if they're dead?

That's more of a disgrace to their memory than anything.

Chris was amazing and everyone knows that. He had a lot more than just the jokes too, he was awesome.

  • Its not bad that his friend did this, do you think he would want to people to forget about him, im pretty sure he is in heaven right now loving it. I bet his like, Hey they are still using me... they must really love me. The truth is, we all love you Chris, you were epic, may you rest in peace man.

  • If Chris were alive today I bet he'd be doing alot of animated films... He just seems he would fit well as a voice of a goofy main character in a good animated movie... "Baby" Brent in "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" was MADE for Chris... Sigh... Rest well Chris...

  • um, i guess people just have to bitch about something,

  • indeed never gets old. thanks mr spade ;)

  • i really didn't see anything offensive about this. why is everyone so pissed about this commercial?

  • I think every one needs to shut up and just enjoy every thing chris has done

    LOVE YOU CHRIS

  • people upset about this are retarded. I think this helps keep Chris's memory alive, and also all the funds benefited the Farley family. some people should really think about things before the have a fit.
