Listening to Adam this week made me think of Von Smith and how sad I am that he's having problems. I still hope for something from him eventually, he has an amazing voice and I'm still a fan.
Not a fan nor a hater, but I definitely think it would have been to his advantage for people to know he was home-schooled. There'd be more leniency with regard to his awkward social skills as a show-off kid. I know I would have gone easier on him --- not so much that I'd vote for him, but I would have rolled my eyes less. Talented? Sure. Nice kid? Probably. But he's NO Sam Harris. At this point VS is just wants to SHOW what he can do, not too concerned whether or not about creating art - Sam is.

He sounds like he could be Sam's son. They both have the same vocal range. Von is VERY good singing cool,jazz numbers. check out his 14g and you will get his vocal range. Von is just coming up,Sam has been there and, still here. Sam would be a GREAT mentor. Mari Ana.
I just re-listened to Sam's version of this song,and you are right,no one can duplicate his version. Sam seems to put more "drama" and "soul" into it. But then Sam is a GREAT producer and director of many stage performances which is not wonder his song interpretations are far above any vocalist.

He sounds like he could be Sam's son. They both have the same vocal range. Von is VERY good singing cool,jazz numbers. check out his 14g and you will get his vocal range. Von is just coming up,Sam has been there and, still here. Sam would be a GREAT mentor. Mari Ana.

I just re-listened to Sam's version of this song,and you are right,no one can duplicate his version. Sam seems to put more "drama" and "soul" into it. But then Sam is a GREAT producer and director of many stage performances which is not wonder his song interpretations are far above any vocalist.

Let me know when this is Vicki,I dont want to miss this friend friday. I always thought they should get together. I have had Von Smith on my friends list for a long time. His jazz albums are fantastic!!!His voice is very versatile. The two of them should be great together. brilliant voice, but he lacks stage presence and performance... it's almost like it's a joke or farce. Just his style, but it isn't commercially appealing I'm afraid!

his mom is a great talent as well. my husband used to work with his mom and in turn worked with von writing and producing music.. he definitely has it in his genes.. his momma is quite the singer. :)

jaja sisi, von smith tambien participo en la temporada 8 de american idol con adam lambert pero se fue antes, quedo en el top 36. Igual como que las notas altas de von tienen un sonido muy diferente menos agradable, usa la mix voice. cuando canta mas grave el sonido mejora, osea el tono. Adam llega hasta un Bb5, busca su vocal range esta en youtube (aunque puede llegar mas abajo creo pero no lo pusieron )

There is no doubt that VON has an amazing range & gift! All hed need is intensive vocal coaching on how to best showcase the range without it becoming a distraction to the melody. Not every second note has to be delivered as if one were auditioning to become a new member of the BEE GEES - MARIAH CAREY REUNION TOUR. This version of "Rainbow" lacks the vocal polish of either SAM HARRIS or PATTI LABELLE's versions yet attempts to register the same decible level.

i hate this boy. He's voice sounds like a screaming fag. It's not even pleasing to the ears. It's noise. He style is for the female voice and he keeps on applying it to the his masculine voice. All he does is scream scream and scream.

woah. that is not how that song should be sung. i mean, yeah, his range is freaking incredible, but it does just sound screamy to me. he's got tremendoes talent, i feel like singing like that everyday is going to blow out his voice in no time though

Don't think that much of this. Yes, he has learned to use a lot of range, and there is a certain interest in seeing what he does with it, but I don't find it especially pleasant to listen to. It is screamy, and he's just showing off for the sake of it

someone asked why are there some random faces in the middle of the video.There's a "talent"show in mexico city,on tv azteca called "la academia"but they brushed him off,because he doesn't speak spanish and the faces you see,are from the other contestants,so idk if whoever posted the faces it's trying to say look at what you let go or he should have been here with the rest of them,in any event,any of those guys is not even half as good as this guy,even he's a little too theatrical,he's awesome!!!
