My name is Arlen Tackett. My uncle Fred Tackitt taught me the 1st song on guitar.. "Don't think twice". He was an artist/actor/folk musician who died trying to save another life in 1965. How bout that eh?
@Onlymusical Kind of looks like Phil Lesh, but Lesh plays bass not lead guitar...I don't think he ever played with Little Feat, but I know Paul Barrere and Bill Payne did tour with Phil Lesh and Friends in 1999-2000....
I have never been let down in the least by this band no matter which version of their lineup I've seen or heard. These truly great musicians always deliver 100% or at least do their level best to do so. It is a matter of pride in the art and in themselves as a players. Playing as a BAND and NOT as a bunch of ego driven posers always yields a product far superior than the sum of the individual parts. This is American music at it's absolute finest. Little Feat are awesome!
@Jakexx01 Very well put. This clip says it all: totally cool mastery of the instruments (including voice) and an integration that should be a lesson to every band.
I see they found a guy who looked like Lowell George who could imitate that vocal trick he used to do. This is a damn good performance. Saw them live several years ago in a park here in New York City with a woman who kept mewling, "It all sounds the same." Jesus Fuck.
If there's a better SNL musical performance by any band, I want to hear it. This is by far the best I've ever heard on SNL. When they're on, they are on Fi-yah!
when Craig Fuller signed on with the band, I saw them in NYC in '88 and was amazed at how much he sounded like Lowell on vocals. He certainly wasn't going to replace his slide guitar, but if you closed your eyes, you could believe Lowell was singing.
What a great Band.
